  1. Even if Robbo were to be offered the job at some time in the future I don't see what the fact that he has not been a Manager recently has to do with it. Unless at 31 he has developed Alzheimers disease, or vertigo from growing too tall in the interim. I don't think this thread will impress Mr Butcher at this time when the poor gent, with extremely limited resources at his disposal and witha fractured team of still-gelling (that's a 3 step advance on still-born) young, somewhat inexperienced men not about to bring home the bacon, still (oops, sorry about the alliteration) has not even completed his one year contract. As for others mentioned, any man who can make and gamble away a million pounds, having worked for ICT , then Aberdeen, must have brains. I mean, where did all the play money come from in the first place unless he was smart enough to have hired a creative Accountant....? I once knew a gambler who ruined his marriage, stole money from Santa Claus and alienated all his friends, stole the money I paid him to put a new engine in my GMC van and then disappeared into the bush ,emerging unshaven and haggard a couple of months later to face a reporter, and a T V camera, who asked him why he did such things ;then ran back into the bushes....... and never has been seen since in a pair of Gucci shoes. I am not going to moralise since I well remember the old adage .."There but for the Grace of God go I" but hiring someone with a "background" is risky. And invites no end of "I told you so-ers" to come out of the woodwork if, and when, things go wrong. CC probably never had his heart in the job anyway so I would be very surprised if he even was considered again.
  2. Well, perhaps it is just another reminder to us that nobody is irreplaceable. Must be nice though to be a club where they can pick-up and discard a good, experienced player at the drop of a hat. And, as it appears, nobody turns a hair.
  3. And the deletion was a backward Duf.
  4. I am sincerely grateful that Scotty did not initiate Flood control on the site. Such exciting news! I would not have missed it for the world By the way, Elmer *** has signed for Ferranti Thistle. Or is it Tarff Rovers? Dunno. I am just a Pimple.
  5. If Germany and England came onsiode to back Summer football it strikes me that Spain and Italy would, or could, be out in the cold. I think it would not be lomnng befire they also came onside--afetr all, what do they have to lose.
  6. The SFA recently made a decision to firmly dispell the idea that a winter break would be allowed. Something to do with scheduling--T.V. scheduling etc. Soccer is played in Canada in the Summer months and it really is a good feeling to be sitting on a nice Summer's evening in the stand in shirt sleeves watching a decent game . Last Summer we had a very important game extended by about 1.5 hours by a ferocious lightning storm at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby , B.C.. They abandoned the game about half time with the Whitecaps up by one, as I recall, and after waiting for about 45 minutes the game resumed. The sheets of lightning were so frequent and the rain so torrential that thye really had no choice since they had to evacuate the spectators from the seating on the far side of the pitch and told them to either get under the cover of the stand or get right out of the park--I assume that was so that the Management of the park would not entail any liabilities for people out in the open inside the park if they were struck by lightning. The lightning show alone was worth the price of admission alone. Not to mention the claps of thunder that seemed to just about lift the roof off. It was quite exciting to be honest.LOL. Not so much for the players because the pitch was awash in water. I seen o point i theplayers trying to perform in appalling conditions which for them can also be exceptionally dangerous, if not career-ending. But since money rules football these days who cares about the health or physical welfare of the actors upon the stage of football? Maybe secondly but not firstly. For me havinga two month break in Winter makes some sense but playing in the Summer months makes even more sense. I also think that attendances would soar.
  7. We can no doubt take that as a "no". :D
  8. Fantastic news. Now , 9,000 MILES it's a bit far for me to travel on a Saturday but if you need a donation of money just contact me. Come to think of it maybe some other worldwide posters who would benefit from this service would care to contribute also. Meanwhile, Thank you for trying to get this off the ground gentlemen. It's greatly appreciated. S. P.
  9. Naurius, Nauris..?.So long as he is not a nauseous player who careth? Methinks he is he is currently Quintus Superbus in the eyes of many, becoming a true general as it were. :crazy03:
  10. I mean apart from "Open All Mics" which is the link that we are listening to right now. What i am asking is there any commentary from Tuclloch today.?
  11. Pitch looks fine. thank you Caley D. Scoty Where does one find any commentary link in Sportsound these days./ ?
  12. Good morning all. Nice day coming up in Inverness I see. Hope the game is still on with the frost conditions etc, that I see on the forecast . Let's hope it's a great game n an hour. Another beautiful sunny and warm day coming up here (at 6-15 a.m. in Vancouver, B.C. Canada) Cheers. Scarlet
  13. Well, there you have it and Caley D has more or less put it in a nutshell. Just a few more points, however:- a. TB is not the team and therefore is not entirely responsible for all the negative results. b. He knew he had a tough nut to crack when he came here and I don't think he would just walk away form ICT if he thought for a moment that , to better himself, he would have to leave ICT in the lurch. c. In view of a. and b.(above) it must be acknowledged that, under the terms of the contract that he signed onto, both parties have reponsibilities to each other. i.e. if he thinks that he has done his best with the shambles that he inherited then he is quite entitled to EXPECT to be paid out in full for the remaining portion of his Agreement if ICT were to foolishly consider sacking him. d.The pay out of the remainder of his contract to get rid of him would leave ICT not a jot further forward, and would simply add more chaos to the mix. In addition to exacerbating the negative financial picture/resources, it would merely add total confusion to the playing team and probably lead to a demoralisation of the players that would lead to more defeats . Also It would then be very difficult to get any Manager worth his salt to take over without another barrowload of money having to be paid out to him personally AND to allow him to rebuild with quality , expensive, players--which the club probably do not have , so then what? Regardless of whether ICT win tomorrow or not, TB has to stay and will stay until the end of the season so, as I have said before, the only positive thing that the fans can do now is to support him ,and the team, to the hilt......and PRAY. But,then again, :dunno: I'm only a Pimple. :P Just enjoy the game folks , tomorrow, it could be a belter. C'mon ICT.
  14. Away form is sterling. Home form is stunning. And I always thought that home advantage counted for a heck of a lot.! Unless the next two games are strong wins, then I go back to my original prediction that if ICT were not in a challenging position by Christmas then there will be no promotion this season. After that where we will end up is anyone's guess? Butcher did come in at a big turning point where solid, experienced players were leaving, money was tight and about to get tighter, the youngsters had not yet been blooded to any extent in the first team and so on. He would need more than one season to sort all this out so laying blame at his feet would seem to be unfair. The whole structure, the strength of the skeleton and the lack of flesh on the bones needs quite a lot of time to re-build and the spirit has waned or has vanished--take your pick. With spirit depressed I think it could take up to three years in Division 1, AGAIN, to rekindle the name that ICT once had ----so there you go. That's a long term view from a long way away. :)
  15. Good luck all and, in case I fall foul of the weather or summat ,have a happy Xmas. Hope the game goes ahead though. Er.... I suppose the cost of turning on the electric blanket under the pitch will be too much to allow it to be turned it on , on Thursday. How much do you reckon it will cost to run for on extra day?
  16. Looks as if there is support for getting rid of comments and reports about English matches on this thread the. Good! We can stick to ICT now , hopefully. A pleased Pimple. :D
  17. Mmmmmmm? I am wondering what English soccer results have to do with this ICT thread? Trolling through countless posts about English teams and betting slips on a thread that , imho, should be solely about ICT and the match, tactics, Manager 's performance etc is a waste of our time ans farnkly bopring. Maybe it is just boredom on the part of the posters who cannot get access to any realtime information about he game but...should these things not be on the General Nonsense thread? :023:
  18. Thoughtful post from HiltonCaley.
  19. All the arrows point to the target of a club with tremendous financial challenges. Unless ICT can get 6 points from their next two matches one cannot help but have the feeling that the Board should resign themselves to not winning promotion to the SPL in 2010, consolidating the finances as much as possible by transferring out some players in January, if possible, for reasonable fees then plan the coaching for next season being in the 1st Division. This re-grouping could take time. The finacial pressures might not allow for any other scenario to raise its head prior to the end of the season. Of course, if Caley Thistle soon begin to win all their matches that might prove to be an even bigger problem for the Board because they might feel that the next season in the SPL may bankrupt them as things stand at the moment. Not the most enviable of challenges for this Board. Frankly , folks, running down the Board, the Manager, or the players at this crucial juncture in the history off our team will solve absolutely nothing and will only add to the problems of the club. :024: just a thought.
  20. Holy Shootalinos! That's my Christmas well and truly doon the watter. Well, I remember the Highland League with fondness; if through considerably dimmer eyes than formerly. My expectations from the team then were miniscule and non -critical. So long as there was a terracing place to stand on. and a hairy fitballer with elbow grease plastered all over his huge calf muscles to follow with the straining eyes to remind me that all the heroes were on the park ,and the fact that we young anes were there solely to pay our 6 pence and cheer every goal as if it was the second coming, then we always went home happy ---reghardless of the result. The moral of this old ane's story is simple. There always will be a Caley and there always will be a Thistle and THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS. And if Caley Thistle end up back in the Highland League then it is not the end of the world. And a happy Christmas to one and all from snowy, freezing British Columbia.
  21. Donview--oh , I so missd you me lad> :021: Now could you tell us which teams(s) do you actually support? Does Aberdeen fit in there somewhere? Just asking. Hi from cold Canada, anyways.
  22. Stevico--when you dipped your pen in the inkwell to write the last post had you just arisen out of bed and had sleepy eyes? "Cos I am afraid it was not ink but whatever it was it burned holes in the paper and ah cannae read yer post. Oh! It has just come to me--it was that new-fangled material aptly named ironic jaundiced acid. Guaranteed to make an impact in the paper . :)
  23. Pleased by your report on Rooney IHE! Looks like he may actually fit in and make an impact. Good for him. Any man who works as hard as he appears to be doing deserves praise.
  24. WEll, I enjoyed the highlights and thank that worthy fan for posting them. It was like a drink of water to a thirsty man in the desert. Is it my imagination, but the pace of the players is not exactly electrifying...?? Or are they simply not fit enough to play hard for 90 minutes. Some of them, including Queen/O/S were ambling at times. :)
  25. Dalneigh Caley. You ARE quick on the draw aren't you. ? I got two letters right in his name...what is the matter with you? You have hurt my feelnigs- to the quick. Grrrrr!
