Team for Burnley
Yes--looks like it. Maybe it's the time to give Rory his big chance anyway. Especially in a friendly since if he does nothing of moment then at least he had been given a chance to shine before the serious games start.

Hamilton and Dougie Imrie
He probably would try running between your legs Caley D?

Defender Required
According to a report I read online about Pressley he is not qioite over the hill yet. Just out of shape it seems ... Not quite what Brew would be looking for eh?

Some heavy comments on here--mostly from the barrack-room lawyers--you know, the ones who do most of the hot air barracking. :003: Sack the Board--what for? No one YET has mentioned or PROVED anything concrete done, or even thought of, by the Board that is utterly stupid or bad or incorrect or unlawful . What about sacking the club's lawyer(s) instead? After all, if the Board are so awful and incompetent that they should be sacked don't you think that the lawyer who drew up the Agreement, advised ICT on the contents and sent it on to Romania is a teeny weeny bit to blame. Is he or she just as incompetent --or more so? Oh.......they didn't use a lawyer? Ohhhhhhhh--- I never thought of that ..I mean the sum of money is so small , just a trifle, why bother with a lawyer to transact the most important transfer in the history of the club? Can someone please advise me whether ICT used a LAWYER to effect, supervise and advise on this transaction and it's legalities? Because that's the key. If they did and the Lawyer screwed up then the Board is blameless are they not? :023:

What to spend the pocket money on?
Big question--how much will there be left after the dust settles.? Secondly I don't think in today's climate of restless players ,where the moment they show a good bit of promise (e.g. rankin, dargo) they are off to pastures richer and newer, long-term contracts are a great idea. Players nowasdays simply want to make as much as they can in thier careers and loyalty does seem to take a back seat. Two years seems a good term to me in all the circumstances. :010:

Harry Chibber is right--dead right. To date 98% of the statements posted on here are little more than pure speculation. But that does not stop some posters from asserting in shrill and almost almost paranoid tones things that could be completely false and probably truly in essence just plain ridiculous. If ICT do not want to put anything on the official site they are well within their rights and until this issue is complete, done and thoroughly dusted, to do so would be imprudent and incautious. Which itself might backfire on Caley Thistle. And the suggestions that ICT are always "cocking-up" or "this is another typical error-prone deal" (I paraphrase) these are really emotional utterances and irresponsible. There is no evidence yet that this is the case. What is correct thinking is that if Marius did agree to waive his cut and has now reneged, if this "understanding"formed part of the written contract then it is legal and it does not matter a toss what assumptions are made because the law will sort that one out and Marius is out to lunch and will either be out of pocket or back in Inverness soon. If he does not return to Inverness soon and is slapped with a breach of contract suit then he could be in deep trouble as a player and also financially. In addition, if the verbal statements were made in front of witnesses who are prepared to testify under oath that he did agree verbally to waive his cut to allow ICT to get more money and the transfer to complete, then ICT are probably the aggrieved party and then he could well lose the battle also. Either way he has a lot to lose and ,as someone else said, hopefully saner heads will prevail and at least a reasonable deal will be worked out. Or to put it another way the accusations and speculative assumptions about the ICT Board should be held in check until the truth comes out. As for the suggestion that Dinamo is a tricky eastern European club and ICT have been taken-in because the Management is stupid, too trusting etc, etc, I find that hard to believe. A club of its prominence and stature would be unlikely to stoop to such tactics. However, if ICT did not insist on a waiver clause to be included in writing in the contract then they have really screwed up and can truly be viewed as over-trusting or naive in the extreme. :011:

Brand New Strike Force
A mobile, confident and experienced centre half before the season starts is essential. Priority Brew. I agree with IHE about this.

Callum Elliott
What is the matter with Elliot? He does not want to go West to Motherwell, he does not want to go South. There is nothing but Hearts to the East and he does not want to play at Gorgie so is there a breathtaking chance that he might actually want to come to the most desirable palace in the U.K. North to Inverness? Better open up your cheque book Management because that may be your only way of interesting him if you are that desperate and that comes as a very high risk. NOt good looking so why not just concentrate on someone who actually wants to play football, no matter where? I. E a truer professional. Does he think he is mighty when it seems he is merely flighty? If Brew thinks B. Fetai was marvellous in Holland then why did he not produce the warm and fuzzy stuff in spades at Tulloch when he was on loan from Rangers?--because his big head got in the way I suppose. And it will always be the case. Big heads get in the way of enthusiam, humility and ...... PRODUCING THE GOODS. :012:

Elliot sound a bit too much like a temperamental poseur or something. Nah.... :029: Brew might indeed have to get back into the jersey if all else fails. But we can't fault him for effort in trying to sign guys. :clapping03: Problem is , either he is quite satisfied with the defence, warts and all, or he is keeping his cards close to his chest about who he might, may, or is about to sign for shoring up the defence. :008: Frankly it does not look so good from my vantage point :024:

Youngsters - how long is long enough
The cat calls and bashing that Rory has had is disgraceful. It's a wonder he himself has not given up the ghost. He may be a late developer and to write him off at 22 is really hilarious. If the Gaffer does not think he is quite ready for a few games in the first team what is wrong with a lot more games on loan to another club? And what IS WRONG WITH SHOUTS OF ENCOURAGEMENT INSTEAD OF CATCALLS AND INSULTS. It's easy to be a backseat driver.

Manager under scrutiny
A lot of fans come on the forum to gain information but remain silent when it comes to contributing. If they do not contribute by expressing their opinion then they have little to complain about when it comes to assessing the opinions of others. I am a firm believer in backing Brewster until he has had a FAIR chance to shine or fail. Right now we are at a critical point in the building of the team and negative criticism is pointless because he will not leave simply because the moaners on here deride and slag him all the time. What I find irritating is that negative critiscism is frequently never balanced with something positive as if Brew must be perfect and has no right to make any mistakes that bother these posters . If Brew never made a mistake he would also never learn his most valuable lessons so that he and the team can improve and develop. A mistake is nothing more than an opportunity to learn a hard lesson. The problem is that you are usually quite old before you are experienced enough to benefit from past mistakes . :016: :cdn:The secret to allowing him to develop is to be patient and give the man a fair shake for goodness sake. C'mmmmmmmmooon! :rolleyes02:

Reflectively, Marius had to go. Signs that last season was not good financially are there and merely also reflect what is going to happen this coming season financially. No one is to blame per se, not Marius, not the Board ,not Brewster--it's just obvious that finances at Tulloch are VERY tight. And if a pattern of deepening red ink were to continue unchecked then you would soon see REAL problems in every way developing. It has very little to do, in my view, with whether the Board, or this person or that person , does or does not ,want to build a better team--Marius was the one golden opportunity to save this team from sinking into a REAL morass and one of increasing mediocrity and there simply was no choice for Management. Marius' departure will allow for a more balanced approach to the wage and team structure and the morale of the players. A return to a spirited team , as in the past, will work wonders and all of us should heave a sigh of relief that at least the adventurous act of signing Marius has a good ending for all concerned. We certainly wish him all the best. Even if the transfer fee was 1 million pounds it would still not be a lot of money for a smaller struggling team like ICT. What that fee might do would be to allow the Board , collectively, to raise a glass of choice wine in a toast to the big sigh of relief that they would be wont to utter. Whatever the actual transfer fee is, a total of 400,000 pounds or more, will soon be swallowed up in pressing financial obligations and not too much of it will be found to splurge on new players I don't think. Whatever sum is spent in this way I hope a good centre half (or is it "back" nowadays?) is at the top of Brewster's list. The possible transfer fee is a small sum when new stands, new players, new this and new that are on the wish list. Money in hand has a way of trickling away. This is a good piece of business and the wisest decision by Management in present circumstances and the challenges facing them. :clapping03:

Manfer--do you always speak to venerable seniors like that? :015: Eh em shocked egad! I am not OLD and you will have to GIT off yer high horse before yer blood pressure creams you.. eh em just slipping into a mellow seniority and I am pleased that you were so touched by my banter so that you don't turn into a ranter. But Mr Al Zheimer has not yet breached meh defences so beware... even a scorpion has a sting in his tail. Meantime... Oops, yer slip is showing, but relax , I am just teasing you, young man. I must say I loved your innovative excuse about your laptop. There are times when I can forgive your cheekiness when you bring out these crafty gems of drollery but since you and I are on the same page about Brewster all is forgiven. :002:

Brewster appears to be certainly trying. The action on the transfer front can only be described as a flurry of activity--even slightly bewildering since there are now more options available to him than ever before; at least in the forward positions. It seems as if he is a shade reluctant to throw ICT's youngsters in at the deep end yet but hopes to blood them during the season to test them and give them more experience in the first team-- which is prudent . To achieve this, however, I think that he will have to solidify the position of the team in the league in the early months to allow him to relax a little and to have a "platform" from which to experiment with these team changes .Meantime , initially I think he will go with as much experience as possible to avoid the possibility of a potentially poor start to the campaign. Even if the team scores goals regularly from the start if the defence is woeful all his plans may come to naught so that will also have to be his priority now. Remember ICT did very well because of the better defence over the past few years and a solid replacement for Dods is still critical for solidifying the league positionThat will not happen folks until money is available to invest in such a player. In this connectiuon Marius may be the key to the whole future of ICT! Brewster has his hands full right now I am quite sure so I am for backing him to the hilt until mid season at least to allow the new playesrs to bed-in, the changes to evolve and the results to improve the spirit and position of the team. When I read some of the posts on here which are so negative and almost vitriolic towards Brewster , even before the man has had half a chance to benefit from his own changes , I just shake my head and wonder what the poster hopes to achieve that possibly can benefit the team by uttering such unbalanced drivel ........ eh?

What hope big names??
It's not good to hear some of you knowledgeable punters slagging off East Fife as if they were only formed yesterday.East Fife has been around the block in their day dear friends. Do you now that East Fife many years ago were the top team in Scotland, so successful that acceptance of the many invitations to play in England just wore them out and their performance then started to suffer so that they never regained their former glory. If you are a true football fan please have a look at their website and read their long and quite illustrious history and you will realise that this team has not only a history but a great tradition and pride. I followed them for a few years when I lived in Leven and Methil and saw many a great game at Bayview --games filled with effort and excitement. As for their current position in Scottish football did you notice how they were really flying last season and maybe also somebody like Crawford might think--"ahem...they can win the 2nd Division this year" whilst equally thinking..." ahem ,and Caley Thistle might just be unlucky enough not to do too well this year.." :022:

Reserve judgement until he is on the team and plays. Even a disaffected player can come good and be dynamic if the atmosphere at the club and amongst the players is conducive to his settling in and positive towards his contribution. Then talent can blossom. But only a real tough nut can continue to forge ahead in the face of constant nagativity....oops, I meant negativity. :023: Patience friends, patience. Still you have to admit Brew is trying..... :014:

I agree with what you write Yngwie-that does seem to be the logical explanation. However, it makes more sense to think that the club is trying to ensure that Marius does not sustain an injury than it does from the point of view that other clubs STILL don't know or understand his talent--to believe that is a longshot I think. And if you agree with my opinion then it does seem more and more likely that the club management feels that a "realistic" bid will shortly turn into a positively acceptable bid followed shortly thereafter by an accepted bid. Otherwise it is very strange that one of the top players in the team is not joining his mates in training and pre-season games especially since we know that he took a whiley to get to a finely tuned fitnmess level when he came here first. Sorry folks, but IMO he is toast (Canadian slang for "gone with the wind" )--sooner rather than later methinks. :011:

A looooooong time ago I watched Hibs slauter Kaiserslautern at easter Road. The score was 4-0 and Hibs were literally rampant. I think it was Eddie Turnbull who scored a terrific goal from 40 yards -went like a rocket--goalie never even saw it. Man, was that a thing of beauty. Enough to demoralise any team. So maybe Kaiserslautern are still in need of Marius' talent. Good luck to both. :011:
