  1. Nice piece in the P & J from Mr Wilson in which he raises two things that I have commented on recently. 1) While we are in a very good position we still aren't playing the kind of football we are capable of. 2) Our sole tactic on Saturday was "Thump to bayne" which was, essentially, ineffectual garbage. When we pass it we play so much better. *Wilson Interview*

Do you think if we can get the A9 upgraded to dual carriageway all the way he would want to stay?
  3. That is the key comment from Thom(p)son - why did he appoint such an inexperienced manager in the first place? It's a shame we don't have the messages for the Sportnetwork forum any more. I think a fair few of us had said that CB wouldn't last a year.
  4. It is sadly. I've known about this for a while now and only in the last few days did the rumours surface. Fact is the Peterhead board are perhaps more ambitious than the fans and after last season almost expect to push up to Div One as soon as possible. The poor start has led them to this decision. It's not one I think is the correct one as the Division is very tight but clearly they don't feel Stewart is the man to take them that bit further. Paterson and Cooper, potentially, is a very good set up to take them into Div 1.
  5. Spot on. I know from my own experience that linesmen get pelters from the crowd yet as soon as they turn round and give a bit of lip back the fans are screaming murder and trying to get the guy banged up.
  6. Up until the last couple of seasons Robson has easily bettered himself by moving. All well and good saying that he hasn't now that we are above them in the league but for a while we weren't so he is possibly the best candidate for bettering themselves after leaving the Highlands.

The Evening Express, which seems to now publish more Non Aberdeen stories online, also had the same article. *Evening Express*

  9. Rumour is Levein to United, Brew to Dunfermline, Ancelloti to Raith.

A bit like Yogi saying last week he could see ICT coming back into the game and that there would only be one winner yet did nothing about it until the 90th minute when he made 2 substitutions :015:
  11. Charlie Mann said on Sportsound yesterday it was an empty threat.
  12. Brewsters entire United 'revolution' was going to be built around getting cetain players from ICT. He never got them and had no other options in the transfer market. So in a way Graeme Bennet and David Sutherland, by playing hard ball, are the ones who have gotten CB sacked :015:
  13. Like Hairy Chibber I am also being lazy and C n P'ing **** road works near Stirling and the traffic in Glasgow caused my Megabus to be over an hour late with me arriving in Glasgow at just after 15:00. After a quick scarper to Central I got there to see a train on route to Paisley just about to leave. Pelted along to platform 13 to see it haul away. Had to wait another 10 - 15 minutes for the next one which was then late leaving by another 5 - 10 minutes. Got into Paisley about half past three and on the way to Love Street heard that Dargo had scored. Arrived 5 minutes before half time and got in for a tenner in the end thanks to a lovely, sympathetic woman who was hanging about the turnstyles :003: Because of that I can only comment on the 2nd half and St. Mirren basically shagged us utterly dominating posession and playing the ball out well. For a time they were matching us in the God awful long ball rubbish but soon started to get it down and get it wide to the impressive Lappin on the left and *insert name here* on the right. The number of crosses Mirren got into the box were phenominal and seemed to cause us no end of problems in defence. We looked very shaky trying to clear it away. Mirren deservedly drew level based on sheer posession and creation of goal scoring chances. I'd be interested to see the goal again, looked like Sutton had no ICT player near him when he headed towards goal. Reminded me of Dods goal for us against Hearts at Tynie a season or so ago. At our end Dargo had a good shot which might have sneaked in but Wilson got in the way and was offside anyway. A glorious Hart corner should have been buried by Bayne but he missed his header. We had another great chance which escapes me right now but at the end of the day a draw was the least Mirren deserved. As fo the size of our support, shocked that never came up earlier actually, I thought it was a good number as well bearing in mind most were faced with a 10 - 12 hour day trip to watch ICT today.

    Duncan or Black?

Dunan has to learn how to pass a ball - it's getting embarrasssing! Shame we can't combine the two of them... :evil07:
  15. It really is bizarre. We are currently 4th despite playing poorly in most of the last few games! How do we do it? :015: As I've been saying recently, can you imagine what would happen when we click? :001:

    Brewster back?

At the start of the season I would have said yes but now - no chance. It seems that he is done and if he could have done a job he would have been playing for Yinited during their awful hilarious current run of form.

I think Bayne was taken off simply because he lookeda bittie knackered. Nearly 100% of our play was going through him and it was starting to take its toll. In the conditions I would have liked Wyness on to hold the ball up and do a few shuffles which would surely have left a Midden defender on his arse in a heap :015:
  18. Not really as far as I know. It is more of a student bar/pub but any lo0cal Aberdeen fans in the area will of course make use of it. On the whole I think it is considered more of a student place than anything else. I should given that it was my 'local' for my Undergrad years at Uni :001: Do an exam and then head straight for the Bobbin 2 minutes along the road to celebrate/commiserate :015:
  19. Quite right though I am more thinking of when he has actually started in that position?
  20. I would love it if Hearts got shagged tomorrow but I can't see it. The Pars haven't won at Tynie in something like the past 22 games.
  21. Sad to see another crash at Ballenuig (spelling) which appears to be notorious for accidents. It's taken many years and numerous deaths on the A77 for MPs to just lower the speed limit!
  22. Bayne needs to start as we are almost certainly going to play our long ball/counter attack style of play. Personally I hate it but you can't argue with results. I would expect us to sit in and let Mirren come at us. When we repel the attacks the ball will be moved quickly up front to Dargo (to chase) or Bayne (to hold up). St. Mirrens central defence has a combined age of about 300 so Dargos pace will be an asset. We will need to get the ball forward quickly and if possible in behind the back 3 of Saints. Broadfoot is another whom we should look to exploit. He is normally solid but has been responsible for some mistakes that have cost Saints this season. We need Wilson to get right on him as much as possible and Bayne can play a role here. If he can hold the ball coming out of defence and lay it off to Wilson, he could run at Broadfoot and hopefully get past him and feed in Dargo to run in behind the defence. Quite specific but I think quick breaks and pace will be key to this one. Stick with the tried and tested 4 - 4 - 2 for this one... Brown Tokley Dods Munro Hastings Wilson Duncan Rankin McBain Dargo Bayne With Duncan possibly coming in Rankin will be free to move forward in a style similar to what occurred at County where Cowie allowed Rankin the freedom of the pitch by doing the dirty defending work. It can be the same here.

Scary thing is I don't think a lot of the team are playing to your potential but they are certainly good enough. In fact I think we have some of the best players in the SPL in some areas of the team. I can't wait to see us click into top gear and utterly thrash someone - like Falkirk last season 4 - 1 - maybe St. Mirren this weekend? :001:
  24. Neither can I. Almost 100% certain he never played there. Whenever we played 5-3-2 (or 3-5-2 if you want to look at it that way) Tokley was the right full back/wing back. I am trying to mind who deputised for him but certainly not Duncan.
