  1. Clacher, I think you are totally wrong and I want to take issue with a few of your comments. Whilst it is true that in any organisation you might get people becoming a part of it to try and further their own agenda, or to gain recognition, notoriety or some form of gratuities or freebies I think you are tarring everyone with a pretty nasty brush here. There are people who just like to get involved, or who want to try and help others without the need for an alternative agenda. I dont know everyone involved in the trust but would certainly vouch for that being the case with many of them that I do know. What absolute scheidt. Some people just like to get involved in things. When I was in Inverness I spent time on the committees of various organisations - ICT Supporters Club, Inverness & District Pool Association, Inverness & District Amateur Football Association. Did i join any of them because i was insecure, or psychologically deficient in some way ? NO, I joined them because I am bloody good at organising things and I like to be involved. I get enjoyment in seeing an event take shape and then watching it run like clockwork. do I need to be in the foreground basking in the limelight ? NO, most of the time I am happy (or actually prefer) to sit quite happily in the background helping things tick over. Am I insecure ? NO - I may have had moments of insecurity at times, but most of the time I am quite comfortable with where I am, where I have been and where I am going. I assume that I must also be even more psychologically unhinged because I started a website in 1994 and have maintained it ever since ? Did I do that for recognition or financial gain ? NO, I did it because I wanted to learn web design and ICT was one of the first subjects that popped into my head when i pondered "ok, what will i make it about" .... It has actually cost me way more money than it has ever made but money has never been my motivation. YES, I have had the odd freebie or invite to hospitality but I think I have given back more than I have ever received. Unfortunately, I am not in a financial position to show my support for the club in the same way as someone like David Sutherland can do, so supplying the club with a website made me feel happy that I was contributing to the club in some way especially when the club quite simply couldnt afford to pay someone to do it. Do I like the praise I get (at times) ? YES, of course I do, I wouldnt be human if I didnt, but the search for plaudits was not the reason the site was started (and with the praise also comes criticism in equal measure). The site is actually more important than ever for me now since we moved to being unofficial again and from 3500 miles away it is not likely I will get too much in the way of freebies or a chance to develop a hidden agenda. Instead, it keeps me informed about what is happening in both Inverness and at ICT and it also keeps me in touch with many friends I have made over the years. Finally, from the point of view of why it was started in the first place - to learn web design - the new site has taught me loads of new stuff about all sorts of different and developing web technologies. If the Directors' agenda for the club is to "make as much money and be as successful as we can" then I fully support that but I disagree with you that everyone who tries to volunteer or become involved in some way - whether as part of an organised group or as an individual - has a hidden agenda. There have been people who have offered genuine help but have been knocked back time and again because their face doesnt fit and there have also been (and still are) some who do have an agenda (hidden or otherwise) attached to their involvement with the club. People dont have to be part of any organisation to either have, or not have, an agenda and again you are tarring everyone with the same brush which is unfair.

  5. Mind you, maybe County are stocking up on future stars for us ..... just noticed on the BBC site that they have signed a couple of Serie B players ....... 6. At the end of the day, I dont care where our new signings come from if they are good enough and that is the key phrase .... Rankin is proving to be worth it, and other players who have previously been at County have also served us well. I have never seen Don Cowie play (that I can remember) so cant really pass comment on him but you can only go to the same well so often before it dries up .... Agree we should be looking wherever we can for players ... this is just a thought, but according to the timetable on the Dalcross airport website, Inverness now has regular flights to Birmingham, London (Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton), Manchester, Liverpool, Dublin, Bristol, Leeds, Southampton, Belfast, and East Midlands as well as internal Scottish routes .... perhaps we could think laterally and try to entice players near to these transport links to come here either permanently or on loan and build a certain number of 'free' flights into their contract - hopefully getting round the 'so far away' or 'middle of nowhere' syndrome.
  7. Black did it once and got a yellow card, then did it a second time a few seconds later and got a second yellow. You could (perhaps) call it inconsistent application of the rules of the game (based on the fact that others have done it and not got booked) that he got his first yellow, but the second yellow was due to his own idiocy. Bottom line is that the referee was 100% correct to book him and then book him again - thats the rules. Given the half-time score, we would probably have lost that game anyway, and if we acknowledge that he is a "competitive" player we can even sympathise with his frustration - something that all ICT fans were probably feeling at that time, both in the stadium and listening to the coverage - but he single handedly (or footedly) killed any chance we might have had of a comeback in that game. However, slated though he was for that incident, his last couple of appearances from the bench have been marked by a noted downturn in his petulance, something that has been commented about on these boards after both the Hibs game and the Celtic game. I wouldnt want to see him lose his competitive spirit but if he can channel it in the right direction as he has in the last two games then he will get a lot less bookings and far more praise, and ultimately, accolades.
  8. If Mark had signed a pre-contract with Falkirk I would have been a lot less happy than I am with him moving to Celtic as it at least shows ambition (no disrespect intended to Falkirk, but if any of our players move to another 'mid-table' side then it is a sideways move regardless of that club's history, fanbase or potential). At least at Celtic he is (hopefully) assuring his own and his family's financial future (6k per week for 3 years is nearly a million squid) and has a chance to establish himself ... who knows what might happen if Boruc goes, gets injured or falls out of favour

    POTY

Player of the Year standings now up to date to end of December on the POTY page and have calculated everything up to the Hibs game in my spreadsheet .... Adding a reminder in the forums has seen 4 people add votes so far today. A couple of teasers for the table I will update at the beginning of next week -- Barry has lost top spot to Broonie !!! (by a single point) -- John Rankin has raced up the table in December/January with 3 MOM performances and points in 2 other games -- 5 players have earned points in every single month so far (Bayne, Brown, Dargo, Rankin & Wilson)
  10. The voting numbers seem to be dropping off a little bit so we thought we would post a little reminder here every week to vote for the top 3 players in each game you have attended. Details of the rules, how it is worked out, and the current standings are here : PLAYER OF YEAR Polls that can currently be voted on are here : POLLS

    POTY

didnt think you were having a go, but trust me, the new method is 1000 times easier to add up - in fact, I am doing it right now ... did October in about 10 minutes (Broonie was Player of the Month) and am now half way through November. will add a sticky later this morning to solicit more votes for the Celtic game.......

    POTY

Actually - more people usually vote in this format than voted in the previous format and we are able to add poll links to the match reports and anywhere else we choose. We will not be returning to the old way - unless you are volunteering to add up the points - the current method means that poll results can be downloaded to excel from the admin side of the site and take a fraction of the time to compile when compared to the old way which had to be written down on paper and then added up and manually entered into excel then sorted/filtered. This method also allows us to make sure no-one has voted more than once as it stores username/IP and we can discard multiple votes when they occur. I hold my hands up and admit the results are not up to date but things like brain farts and other technical issues have been occupying our time - I will try to bring it up to date in the next week or so. One compromise we COULD do is to add a thread to the forums with a link to the poll after each game and make it a sticky. this would serve to remind people that its available to be voted on. I dont think everyone enters the site through the front page so may miss the very prominent position it has on that page.
  13. Doesnt even get into the 'B' Squad ...... 'A' Squad McLeish has called up 30 players to attend a team gathering in Ayrshire next week. With no game attached to the gathering, there is the opportunity to include players who are currently injured as well as three - Pressley, Fletcher and McFadden - who are suspended for Scotland's next Euro qualifier at home to Georgia on 24 March. The team meet up on Sunday evening and will have two days together at Turnberry Hotel, with a series of training sessions and meetings to plan the way ahead. Goalkeepers Neil Alexander (Cardiff City) Paul Gallacher (Norwich City) Craig Gordon (Heart of Midlothian) Allan McGregor (Rangers) Defenders Graham Alexander (Preston North End) Russell Anderson (Aberdeen) Gary Caldwell (Celtic) Steven Caldwell (Sunderland) Christian Dailly (West Ham United) Stephen McManus (Celtic) Kevin McNaughton (Cardiff City) Graeme Murty (Reading) Gary Naysmith (Everton) Robbie Neilson (Heart of Midlothian) Steven Pressley (Celtic) Andy Webster (Wigan Athletic/Rangers) David Weir (Rangers) Midfield Barry Ferguson (Rangers) Darren Fletcher (Manchester United) Paul Hartley (Heart of Midlothian) Richard Hughes (Portsmouth) Lee McCulloch (Wigan Athletic) Ian Murray (Rangers) Nigel Quashie (West Ham United) Scott Severin (Aberdeen) Gary Teale (Derby County) Forwards Kris Boyd (Rangers) James McFadden (Everton) Kenny Miller (Celtic) Steven Thompson (Cardiff City) 'B' Squad Scotland B meet Finland B on Wednesday 7 February in the Tennent's B International at Rugby Park, Kilmarnock. Kick-off is 7.45 pm and admission is just £5 for adults, £2 concessions. The match is aimed primarily at players on the fringe of the A squad, as a stepping stone between the Under 21 level and full internationals. Goalkeepers Paul Gallacher (Norwich City) Allan McGregor (Rangers) Defenders Christophe Berra (Heart of Midlothian) Kirk Broadfoot (St Mirren) Gordon Greer (Kilmarnock) Jay McEveley (Derby County) Steven Whittaker (Hibernian) Midfield Charlie Adam (Rangers) Scott Brown (Hibernian) Chris Clark (Aberdeen) Stephen Pearson (Derby County) Michael Stewart (Hibernian) Kevin Thomson (Hibernian) Forwards Craig Beattie (Celtic) Alan Gow (Falkirk) Shaun Maloney (Celtic) Darren Mackie (Aberdeen) Derek Riordan (Celtic)

    Reserves

Flower - I tend to agree and Mee, thanks for the compliment. For the avoidance of all doubt, CaleyThistleOnline.com has had no involvement with the provision or upkeep of the official site of the club since approximately September 2006. Prior to this (from March/April 2006 until September) we did supply them with a temporary portal on our webspace which they used while their new site was under development but they entered 90% of the content directly, with myself and CaleyD adding only the official match reports. When this site was the official site of the club (seasons 2000/01 until end of 2005/06) we found it very difficult to obtain information on the reserves and U19s as no-one wanted to spend the time putting the stuff together and sending it out to us. We ended up getting sporadic emails from the SPL and the club with details of fixtures and results and forwarding them to the likes of Mee, CaleyD and one or two others - reports were only online when supporters created them. As Fiona is now responsible for the club's web content, and is adding reports at the very least, I would suggest that those fans who find this information interesting/valuable email her to let her know that it is something they want to see done in a more in-depth level on the official site and I am sure she will consider it. fiona.mcwilliams@ictfc.co.uk

    Reserves

not really a fixture list [matches tend to change at short notice] - but there are reserves/u19 pages on the official site. RESERVES: http://www.ictfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Matc...,,10447,00.html U19s: http://www.ictfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Matc...,,10447,00.html
  17. Its rumoured that Lorimer's shots (or 'Thunderboots' as he was known to many Leeds fans) travelled (with deadly accuracy) at around 90 m.p.h. :010: :010: ...... By comparison, one of today's greats who is reputed to have fierce shooting power - Roberto Carlos - can manage only 72 m.p.h. :012: :012:
  18. Not exactly a huge secret that it was going to be McLeish. I hope McLeish can be as determined in managing the national team as he was when he was playing for it. I am also happy to see 'the Bear' given a role within the setup. As I have said before, many players that played alongside big Roy both at Celtic and for Scotland have commented on the sheer determination of the man and how "motivational" he could be when roaring the side on from the back. I hope he can do that from the sidelines. ... looking at the three pictures on the bbc site .... would you argue with any of them ?
  19. not legally. fraid its sky sports ticker and bbc text commentary for me Wyness subbed after 2 minutes .... injured I assume ?
  20. LINEUPS ICT [attach=1] CELTIC [attach=2]
  21. Kerbie .... think we had a thread about it on here once ... :015:
  22. you are correct. basically, if I understand things the following applies to each match. The Home team can broadcast commentary live on their own website if they wish as they have the rights to all their games The Away team can broadcast commentary live on their own website if they wish as they have the rights to all their games If either team has a broadcasting contract in place, the BBC can be forced to block their service to listeners outside the UK. The BBC can broadcast live on their website if neither team has a broadcast service operating or does have one but doesnt block transmissions (Hibs for example) This basically means ICT (at home and away) v Hibs, Motherwell, Dunfermline, Falkirk, Dundee Utd & St Mirren are the only games available ... forget it if we are playing Rangers, Celtic, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen or Hearts at Tynecastle
  23. Scotty

    Ian Black

thank god for that .... thought when you said 'emo' you meant this guy
  24. I used to go to Scotland games quite frequently and think some of the best I have seen have been the likes of the following .... Davie Cooper & Kenny Dalglish for their consumate skills, Roy Aitken for his determination and leadership rather than skill, Andy Goram and Jim Leighton who were both great keepers, and the defensive trio of McLeish, Miller and Leighton which was something else. From TV coverage I would have to say it was always good to watch the clips of the likes of Jinky, Bremner, Baxter, Law etc and even some of the more modern era players like Jordan, Souness, Hendry, McAllister If I can pick only one player as my favourite then it would have to go to Kenny Dalglish - entertainer, highly skilled, 100+ caps, 31 goals and by now, probably a zero handicap on the golf course :015:
  25. That, is quite possibly the most fantastic chant ever. Yes, that one is pretty good - simple yet true :021:
