Announcement re Managerial Situation Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC regret to announce that, despite every effort to persade them to stay, Terry Butcher and Maurice Malpas have indicated their wish to relinquish their posts as manager and assistant manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Compensation has been agreed with Hibernian FC. Chairman Kenny Cameron said: ”It is a major disappointment to the club and its supporters that they have taken this decision. I'd like to put on record our appreciation of the excellent job they have done at Inverness since Caley Thistle provided them with the opportunity to join the club in January 2009. "Maurice was offered the manager's role but declined. We would, however, like to record our sincere appreciation to him for taking the team on Saturday in what was a resounding victory. "On the field, skipper Richie Foran and the players showed great heart and character. We have a special group of players here and we intend to keep them at this club. Our supporters were excellent, as usual, and we now ask for their patience regarding the team management scenario. For those who don't believe the media are leading them by the nose, try this wee experiment.... Watch the STV footage of Terry at training with the thought he is leaving in your head. You perceive that the claps from players are a "wish you well" gesture. Watch the same footage with the thought he is staying in your head. You perceive the the claps are because Terry has just told them he is staying and they are happy at the news. It's well document scientific fact that our perception of the things we see are heavily influenced by what we hear and either of the above scenarios is possible...along with a few others. Heck, he might have jut told them a joke or done one of those "thinking outside the box" teasers he often does and the claps were for that!

Do people honestly think that if TB was going to say his goodbyes to the players that he would do it so publicly...especially when he was at the stadium with them shortly beforehand? The STV news showing Terry leaving the stadium saying he was going to work was shot BEFORE the footage at training...I would say order of events deliberately altered to cause confusion and keep people tuning in to the news. Why do people continue to pedal press reports as being "fact" when they are, time and again, proven to be nothing but inaccurate speculation? As far as I am concerned, Terry Butcher is the manager of ICTFC until such time as we are officially informed otherwise....and I don't believe that is set to change any time soon.

Not quite accurate. ICT were only approached for permission to speak to him on Tuesday afternoon. He would have only got full details of what was on offer yesterday. Not unreasonable for him to take a day or two to decide his future. During the whole Barnsley fiasco, you were very vocal throughout the whole thing that Butcher would stay. You said this, even during times when it looked more likely he was off, and were often a lone voice citing your belief, which to be fair, you stuck to it throughout and in the end were proven right. During this saga, you've hardly said a word. Why? I have just as much faith in Terry staying this time as I had with the Barnsley approach. A combination of things have meant I've perhaps not been as vocal about it (certainly on CTO) as last time. 1. The timing...pressure of work means I don't have so much time for contributing on CTO at the moment and I find it more practical to partake in discussion on Twitter. 2. I find the attitude of some users and the manner in which they post on here increasingly tiresome and aggravating. Other methods of online chat allow me to be more selective in who I engage with on a regular basis. 3. Due to the work I do with the club, I feel closer to the situation this time than I was last time. Whilst I know no more than what is in the public domain, others may perceive that not to be the case and I do not wish to be seen to mislead when my opinions are just that.

What gets me is that the SFA rules are out of line with FIFA. FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC) PAGE 19 ARTICLE 17 Caution 1. A caution (yellow card) is a warning from the referee to a player during a match to sanction unsporting behaviour of a less serious nature (cf. Law 12 of the Laws of the Game). 2. Two cautions received during the same match incur an expulsion (indirect red card) and, consequently, automatic suspension from the next match (cf. art. 18 par. 4). The two cautions that incurred the red card are rescinded. 3. If a player receives a caution in two separate matches of the same FIFA competition, he is automatically suspended from the next match in that competition. The Disciplinary Committee may exceptionally depart from or amend this rule before the start of a particular competition. Any such decision reached by the Disciplinary Committee is final. 4. If an abandoned match is to be replayed, any caution issued during that match shall be annulled. The injury sustained when Sproule left his studs in looked to be a flesh wound and I wouldn't expect it to effect Tremarco's availability. Thought he slotted in very well and had a solid 45 minutes. Equally pleasing was how well Shinnie made the switch to the right hand side.

Comparing one season to the next like that seldom paints an accurate picture. I also think people vastly over-estimate the income from the league cup semi-final which would be about on par with income from 1 additional TV cup game at home. Just about everything else you mention we had the year before as well...e.g. replace County gates with Rangers gates and we had Celtic at home in the Scottish Cup. The solidarity payment is a bit of a red herring, IMO, as some TV money had to be given up to the SFL to maintain the deal and the league would have had a number of expenses in relation to the whole Rangers saga....and if league "profits" are down, then there's not so much to divide among the clubs. All these things tend to balance themselves out year on year and gains in one area are offset by losses in others. We know that Terry had a sizeable chunk taken from the playing budget and from the Chairman's statement we know that admin costs were down by over £110k. Without those cost saving measures then we'd likely have been facing a loss of over £250k (based on limit figures to hand)...which is in line with how the club had been operating previously. To suggest that we only scrapped a profit based on the items you mentioned, especially when comparable items can be found from previous seasons and when there's clearly defined cost cutting, does the club a bit of a dis-service IMO. For far too long we've talked ourselves down...sometimes justifiably so. However, when things are good, like now, we should be shouting from the rooftops about how well our club is operating and doing our bit to attract new investment...and that new investment could be anything from a new season ticket holder to a sizeable share purchase.

Whilst managing to turn a profit is fairly remarkable in itself, you also have to look at the balance sheet which has improved by near £300k. That's the truest indication of the clubs improved financial position. Taking everything together, what we see is that not only is the club operating within it's means on a day to day basis, it's still attracting capital investment. We've been told before that the boards aim after our relegation season was to get the club back to a position where it had £1 Million in the bank, and the accounts show that the plan is working and things are headed in the right direction. That's two years running now where I'll have nothing to moan about at the AGM....I'm no happy!!!

Setting up and capturing the footage is the easy bit...the tough/time consuming part is the video production/editing, which can take several hour even for a short highlight reel. We want to be able to do more of this kind of thing more often...and we will get there. If anyone has a nice 5 figure sum and wants to sponsor the media team, then that would help speed things along!!!
