  1. I've just ha to check the meaning of "dearth" in the dictionary because I thought I was losing the plot....and no, it means what I thought. I think the last couple of seasons has seen us produce more promising youngsters than ever....... Sutherland, Vigurs, Woods, Gillespie, Kerr, McAllister...and a few more who will be knocking on the door next season. Granted these guys aren't playing regular and "proving" themselves, but they have yet to be given that chance (with the possible exception of McAllister). I'm actually quite excited about the prospects of these guys and think we're far from having a "dearth of talent coming through the Youth System"

  4. I suspect the ICT squad will be a bit of a "Select" as well...or I hope it would. Would be great if they could arrange for some of Barry's old team mates to make an appearance alongside him. Would love to see the likes of Calder making a return to the team for this one, even if it was just for a 45 minute stint :021:

  6. I'll go out on a limb here and predict a virtual clean sweep of the awards for Don Cowie this season :004:
  7. I'm sure I won't be the only one happy to see us put this past season behind us. I'm not a fan of the opinion that avoiding relegation is the aim, but happy that we've done so this year and hope that we can make a solid push for top 6 next season.
  8. Thought someone might have taken up the offer, but with 11 Events connected to the club during May then people are perhaps feeling a little overwhelmed by how much is going on and being selective in what they attend.

I'll be there along with the Highland Marchers. Which watering hole do the ICT fans use pre-match?
  10. As the saying goes......You can lead a horse to water, blah blah blah. Poor atmosphere at the football is not unique to us and it's becoming pretty much the norm throughout the UK as they continue to hinder people's enjoyment with the constant introduction of rules and regulations. It's getting to the stage where a person is scared to fart for fear of breaching some new rule and finding themselves being huckled off by some over zealous steward. Going to the football used to be the one time during the week where otherwise reserved folk could have a couple of beers before the game, let go a little and not have to worry about being judged by those around them for shouting the odd sweary word. Stewards and Police back then needed a good reason to eject people, nowadays they can use any reason at all...and use it they do. The worst you ever had to worry about for getting a little excited at a game a few years back was ejection...nowadays ejection can easily result in a caution, criminal record and a ban. The people running the game in this country, those who make the decisions and those in charge at the clubs are happy enough to have it this way as they see it as making life easy for them. Until the mindset changes then things will just continue to get more and more sterilised and the atmosphere will get flatter and flatter.

How do you wave a flag when your not allowed a flag stick, or allowed to stand to wave it, and not allowed to wave it in front of advertising boards. Mike Smith knew it would be impossible for the flag to be displayed from their seat, and I believe that where the flag was located is where these lads have been told to put their flags by the club....but once again, it's a situation of "when it suites" and fans being given contradicting and confusing information. :017: - I could understand you having an opinion on Asda being better value for money than Tesco, but I fail to see how replacing me with a Polish family would be of any interest to you whatsoever. A more realistic comparison might be someone putting "CaleyD Out" in their signature on this forum. If it then became apparent that it was the opinion of many then it would probably make me stop and look to see why and I'd seek to resolve the issue. I certainly wouldn't remove the Signature nor ban the User for having an opinion just because I have the ability to do so. So, whilst I agree that ICT should have their rights, what they have done in this instance is abuse those rights. If the Flag had read "Brewster is a B*****d" then that would have been an abuse of rights and the removal of the flag would have been justified. Removal of the flag only shows that the club have something to fear from the opinion of the fans. The might have seen it as a show of strength/authority, but it just serves to prove how weak and infirm some at the club really are. The fact that flags/banners containing far more inflamatory slogans have been freely displayed without objection by visiting fans is another argument, but it is another example of how, at ICT, our own fans get hammered far more than they are prepared to hammer the visiting OF support (among others).

IMO, the club as a whole is riding along at the moment on some dodgy foundations both on the playing and non-playing side. On the playing side we've seen some fairly major issues with players and the managers and contracts etc this past couple of seasons. The kind of problems we were seeing don't fix themselves overnight, but that is what we are suppose to believe and some people seem to have forgotten about them in light of a couple of recent good results. On the non-playing side the club has been lacking in many areas for some time now....even long before Alan Savage was Chairman. AS tried to change things and ended up being hounded out of the job, why do people seem to think that George Fraser will be any more successful in bringing about change? He was promoted from within, he was a part of the Board that resisted the changes AS wanted to make and even if he was in agreement with AS, we don't have any new blood in the Boardroom that is going to back the changes he may want to make....especially on the things which really matter to the fans. Not for the first time we are seeing the club take direct action against people who dare to disagree with them or upset the apple cart. Whether you agreed with the Brewster Out flag or not, Mike Smith had absolutely no right whatsoever to remove it....that's not just my opinion, it's one of the fundamental beliefs upon which democratic society is based...EVERY single person in this country has the right to peaceful protest. Does Mike Smith think that TCS is some kind of Oceania and his role is that of Big Brother? I'm also surprised to see members of the Supporters Trust Committee condemning the lad for putting the flag up. I thought they more than anyone else would have been throwing their weight behind the rights of the fans to have a voice!!!

If clubs sacked their managers or changed their boards every time the fans called for it, there would be no continuity and they would fall apart. Fans are fickle, and most are stupid. I'm not just on about Brewster, it's the whole attitude that seems to exist at ICT where they think Fans should be seen and not heard. The empty promises that things will be done, only for problems to be swept under the carpet and conveniently forgotten about.....the arrogance that drives an opinion where the club/manager thinks a couple of good results fixes everything (on and off the park).....the chain of thought that says we should all be dancing in the streets at avoiding relegation each season. This is perhaps something for another thread, but all ICT ever seem to do of late is paper of the cracks. They're like a dodgy car salesman who quickly glosses over the fact that the car your looking at has rusty sills and a loose steering wheel as if they aren't important, because what your looking at is a classic and you can expect a few little problems. A few wee issues I could accept, but when the chassis is rotten and steering is screwed then your either going to fall apart somewhere down the road or end up in a ditch.....regardless of how much you polish the car has on it.

I just came up with a great idea, but not sure if it will swing....perhaps the club could actually show some signs that the give a toss about the opinions of the fans, that way they might not feel the need for such visual displays!!!
  19. I'll take the same again in every game if we can score 6 goals!!!
  20. CaleyD replied to TomCaleyJag's topic in Caley Thistle
I think people should be allowed to have anything they like on a banner provided it's not abusive. Your flag contained nothing but an opinion and although I may not agree with such things I believe that whoever removed it was wrong to do so....if you haven't got the flag back, then you may want to report the theft and ask the Police/Club to look at the CCTV footage to ascertain the perpetrator.

The problem is, they all seemed geared up to giving Zibi a hard time from the off....he was jeered for his clearance which led to the opening goal :029: and some of the lads even tried to put him off on a couple of other occasions in the first half when he was taking a goal kick.
  22. As I posted elsewhere about Niculae yesterday....he was marked out of the game...but being the professional he is he turned it to our advantage. He had at least 2 mean on him for the entire game and instead of dragging them in to clog up the area he held back and dragged these guys all over the pitch....creating the opportunity for others to take advantage of the stretched defence. I'd quite happily see him do that every game if it means we can score 6 goals.
  23. Since when did "we're having talks" mean "He was Singing for St Mirren". The St Mirren interest is old news...nothing in that article that wasn't in Thursdays Newspapers.
