What between the lines here IHE?
I read that in the paper last night and couldn't help but sense Grassa squirming as he tries to reposition himself on the whole Niculae thing.

Has Niculae been worth it?
L_G mentioned this recently on another thread. That is NOT the way this deal has been presented. A number of people from the club from Brewster to Grassa have talked about "the chairman picking up most of Marius' wage". If that's not the case then it's yet another example of our board treating the club's fans and players with total contempt. As has been said by several people over the season....the next set of club accounts could make for very interesting (and revealing) reading for many people.

Who should be the next chairman at ICT..?
Another member of the "old boys club".....just what we need :029: Don't think so Caley D. He is very much his own man which probably wouldn't suit the Tulloch Yes men. I have no real problem with a Tullochs "Yes Man". It's people like Sutherland who got us where we are and built the stable platform on which the club now rests (or as stable as you get in football these days). So long as a decision is made one way or another then people at least know where they stand. No point in taking in someone who is their own man and then tying their hands and not allowing them to get on with things, just as much as there's no point in taking in a "yes man" and then expecting them to make big decisions off their own back. And above all else, we shouldn't be taking someone in just because they're "one of the lads". They have to be able to perform whatever duties they are charged with. Be that following the instructions of someone else or being a leader in their own right.

Message To Marius
My message to Marius would be an apology for the way in which so called "professional businessmen" have fecked up so badly when it comes to the basic principles of management and turned your signing into a bit of a circus. - They failed to control fan expectations by touting you as the man who would single handedly take us to the top 6. - They failed to manage the changes with the rest of the squad which resulted in your signing being seen as undermining their worth to the club. - They have failed in their attempts to spin the whole wage issue. You've done nothing wrong, you get on well with the vast majority of the squad, your liked by the vast majority of the fans and you've kept your head down and got on with doing your part as a player. For that you should be applauded.

Has Niculae been worth it?
Take money out of the equation and I certainly think Niculae was a worthwhile signing. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge about the game can see that he's a step up from anyone we've ever had playing in an ICT shirt in terms of class. Has he been value for money? I don't think he has been worth ?5000/week to ICT, purely on the basis that I think we could have retained the services of an on-form Dargo for less than half that price and very likely have achieved the same outcome for the season. I don't buy the whole "Orion paying half his wages" line either. As I understand it the only money to come directly to the club from Orion is a ?275,000 invest for a 12% shareholding.....that's not player sponsorship, that's the purchase of a stake in a football club. So, although the investment perhaps made the signing possible, it is ICT who are paying 100% of the wages. You trying going into a shop, buying ?10 worth of goods and telling them to stick your tenner in the charity tin on the counter instead of in the till!!! All that aside though, I don't think it's the money that he's being paid that has caused the majority of the issues. I think it's the way it was done and the fact that existing squad contracts were all but ignored last summer when we were chasing after Niculae. The whole thing smacked of "you're not important we'll deal with you later". I worked in Change Management and the first thing you learn is that change, whatever it is, unsettles people. Fact...more people leave perfectly good jobs which they have been happy in for years during periods of change due to uncertainty than for any other reason...even when the changes will have little to no impact on them. If you want to avoid that then you have to remove the uncertainty, if you want to remove the uncertainty then you have to show/tell/demonstrate to key employees that they are valued and will still be a part of whatever comes after the changes. For a footballer that's all about contract length, wages and bonuses. Had the club taken the time to review the contracts of our key players 12 months ago then I don't think we'd be seeing half the issues we are now. ICT showed some welcome ambition when they signed Niculae but they made the big mistake of taking existing player loyalty for granted and I think that's the reason they are now paying the price and it has very little to do with whether or not "Niculae was worth it" A prime example of some people ignoring the fact that "It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it".

New shirt ?
LG...I could be wrong but I believe the agreements over percentages of each colour to be used only existed for the first 10 years.

The info is out there regarding the situation if you read with an open mind, although I'm sure someone will spell it out in due course.

Who should be the next chairman at ICT..?
Until we see one or two other people removed from positions of authority at the club then I don't think it will matter a jot who the next Chairman is.

UEFA
You raise a good point RiG and I can't help but feel that the media actually play a part in feeding that kind of behaviour by screening it. A few years ago the media decided/were forced into not showing streakers at sporting events when they took to the field of play and it seems to have vastly reduced the amount of incidents. Not saying that blocking the Sectarian stuff will solve the problem, but it will certainly remove the incentive for doing it to get on the TV which doubtlessly exists. I'm not talking about "hiding the problem away" and forgetting about it, but the less exposure you give these idiots the better.
