ICT - Did You Know
TCS was at one stage the largest pitch in Scotland (think it still might be) and maybe even in the UK.

That tackle
Witnessed some nasty tackles over the years, some of which had far more serious outcomes than the one on Brown. Any tackle has the potential to do injury, but most of the worst tackles I have seen have been the result of clumsy/hard tackling where people have been unfortunate to come off badly, the difference with this one however is that it is obviously performed with the intention of doing serious injury. Had one fan done that to another then they would have been facing the courts and most likely a lifetime ban from attending football matches. Players are not above the law, even when they are on the pitch and that tackle was nothing short of pre-mediated assault with the intention of doing actual bodily harm...a charge that would run serious risk of a custodial sentence. Brown was very lucky to come out of that without a snapped legged. Even though his foot was off the ground at the time of the "tackle" he was coming forward over the top of his leg and it's a miracle that he was ok.

Marius Niculae
I'm getting worried that your actually starting to believe your own drivel. Niculae was at full stretch and did well to make contact with the ball to control it towards the goal, their was nothing definite about the opportunity and he worked to turn it in to such.

Question...
My understanding is that regardless of whether exemption is granted as it has been in England that the answer to that question is yes. Although in my experience it has mostly been police who have undertaken this responsibility anyway.

Richie.......
Read the whole thread, the argument has been had already. Fair enough if you disagree with the clubs decision, but (personally) I don't see the need for us to go through the whole thing again.

John Rankin
Far too many people on this thread been taken in by TV's Footballers Wives series I think. Some of these comments are coming very close to the edge in terms of defamation, so I hope (if challenged) you can back it up with solid facts and not just hearsay.

Question...
I can see where your coming from Alex, and although the legislation wasn't "intended" to cover the roles defined in these other areas it does by default and until such time as an exemption is granted then it has to be followed. I've done a lot of reading up on the subject and you really have to do a lot of cross referencing and matching up to get all the legislation to fit together...it is a complete minefield. Much is made of this "exemption" that exists south of the border but it is not a total exemption. Exemption only applies to those stewards who are not performing "licensable activities" and the level of licensing they require depends on whether they are employed directly by the club or are contracted/agency staff. For Club Employees Club Safety Stewards & Stewards performing licensable activities in non-licensed areas require a Level 2 Stewarding Qualification Stewards performing licensable activities in licensed areas and Supervisors require Level 2 Stewarding Qualification and must have undergone a Disclosure Scotland check For Contract/Agency Stewards Safety Stewarding - as above Licensable activities in non-licensed areas - Level 2 SQ and an SIA Manned Guarding License Licensable activities in licensed areas - Level 2 SQ and an SIA Door Supervisor License Licensable activities at football matches consist of - Those who search spectators on entry to the ground and/or - Those who are specifically tasked with intervening against and ejecting spectators who are in breach of ground regulations. Ironically, should the exemption be granted by the Scottish Office then the Safety Officer in charge of overseeing all activities involving the stewards does not need to be licensed, they simply have to have undergone a Disclosure Check (although I believe the National Football Licensing manual dictates that such persons must hold a position at senior level within the company) So as you can see, even if exemption were to come in to force in Scotland, a good portion of the stewarding staff would still need to get a qualification/license of some form.

Dundee Utd - Away
I'd split it from a stickied topic and must've forgotten to set this part to normal.

Another Fan is born ......
By my reckoning that makes it a result of celebrations from our 4th Rd Scottish Cup victory over Dundee Utd last season :015: Congratulations and great to here everyone is well.

Duncan as Captain
I'd give it to one of the ball boys. Seriously though, I've never understood the need for a Captain on the park when you have a Manager on the touchline capable of shouting orders on to the park. Aside from that, if you take away the armband then a natural leader will shine through anyway.

Question...
I would hope it wouldn't be the case, but lets not have anyone looking to test/antagonise the situation. The Stewards will be there to do the same job they always do whether they have a license or not and it is the club and the stewarding company who are leaving themselves open to problems if they have not ensured compliance with the new laws. This situation covers far more than just TCS and if clubs aren't complying with the law then something will happen during the natural course of events to bring it to light and nobody should be risking their own neck intentionally because of the ongoing stewarding issues. In short, they are quite capable of screwing things up themselves without the need for any help from the fans, and at the end of the day, if you cause an issue then the police are still on hand to ensure your dealt with accordingly.

Subs
ictchris, I made the same points when writing up this weeks Match Report for the site. Making "like for like" subs when you need a change in tactics seems like a totally pointless exercise. If your looking to increase your attacking threat then you increase your attacking force, often that means bringing on an extra forward, not just swapping one for another. With regards to the Gretna game, Wilson had to be brought on as Black got injured so it was a forced substitution.

Fanzine
I quite like the idea of a paper based fanzine and "CaleyThistleOffline" has a certain ring to it :001: Not everyone uses the internet and you probably could find a market for it.

Richie.......
Whether the decision is the right one or the wrong one, I don't really care, what's important is that a decision has finally been made and although it dragged on longer than necessary IMO, at least it hasn't been turned into some kind of circus sideshow. It's up to Hart now to earn his place back in the team and I hope he is given the same opportunity in that regard as everyone else and this incident is not held over him or used as an excuse to keep him sidelined. I also hope that our own fans remember who he is out there representing and we don't see repeats of some of the things that happened in pre-season games where some of our own fans thought it funny to berate and shout at him whilst he was taking corners, or every time he was on the ball. It's not big, it's not clever and the only people your effecting are your own team.

Rangers -V- ICT : Matchday Thread
I get the feeling that problems exist within the club at present that go way beyond players performances on the pitch. That's life I guess and everything can't be rosy all of the time, I just hope that someone has it under control and individual ego's and issues aren't being allowed to get in the way of the larger picture.

Can I suggest you ignore the voices???

Utd couldn't afford the final installment so we sent Rossco down to repossess :023:

In hindsight I could understand the logic behind starting Proctor instead of Cowie - holding Rangers for as long as possible and strengthen the defencive aspect of our game - however that went right out the window after 34 seconds and Brewster should have been ready to make the change from that moment on. If we can't fix the problems at the back, then we need to adopt the Pele strategy of scoring more than the opposition.

Apportioning the blame ?
I was slated at the start of the season for suggesting that we thank our current DoF for all he has done getting us where we are and looking for a more qualified replacement.

MIKE FRASER
He must have been bricking it going in to yesterdays game, but he appeared to have channeled that and looked poised and ready the entire 90 minutes...miles from the Fraser of last Wednesday who seemed all over the place and wandering aimlessly up the pitch. Although he isn't the finished article he is the number one choice at the moment and appears to be learning all the time. We can't really ask more of him than that, and until January comes and Brewster is faced with the decision of keeping faith in him or bringing in someone else then we all need to try and back the guy. That doesn't mean he isn't open to criticism, but we have to understand that, at the moment, we have little choice but to try and lift him and not get on his back and add to the problems. The same goes for Fraser, he has to understand that certain expectations have been placed on him and has to work to prove himself capable. The next couple of months will be as big test on his character as it will be on his ability.

Your right about the argument, your wrong about who he had it with :004:
