The new manager thread
I disagree. I think the largest majority of people didn't really have any strong feelings one way or the other in regards to John Hughes (or any other manager) and were happy enough to place faith that Kenny Cameron and the board are the ones best placed to know who would be the best appointment. This forum has over 2600 active members and you can pretty much count on the fingers of both hands the number who were/are vehemently against the appointment. They are as entitled to their thoughts and opinions as everyone else...but just because they choose to post the same thing over and over does not (should not) mean they are any more significant than the thoughts and opinions of everyone else, even those who have chosen not to post on the subject. Two things of note.... 1. Many of the dissenters have only really become active posters again in the last few weeks. 2. The number of dissenters is not only a minority, it is largely insignificant.

I can confirm that it's not me...something to do with a lack of fabric at Errea.

Richie Foran and the players don't appear to have any concerns....quite the opposite... And a few words from the Chairman as well...

Are we all just supporting acts?
Just that no other team could ever afford to. The same as no other team would ever be invited to play in a 'glamour friendly'. These rules are only in place for the good of the OF. Rules were agreed by all clubs....if others didn't want it, then they could have rejected the proposal.

SPFL rules allow any team to postpone games and take a winter break during the first fortnight in January.

In my opinion, need to get a manager in this week. While we have won 3 without a manager, Duncan Shearer looks a forlorn figure on the touchline and if things go wrong during a match, which they haven't yet, I think he would struggle to react to what is required. No critisim of Shearer but his body language indicates to me he wants out of this role as soon as possible. You don't need to watch his body language....he's openly admitted it in interview

Radio coverage
hmm! I know people who broadcast their own radio shows with Winamp, a mic & Itunes! They don't seem to have any problems with bandwidth etc. The Glensound boxes are a nice piece of kit. Try Moray Firth or BBC Highland. They have kit like that lying about! I'm sure there is a cheaper solutions out there Caley D If a cup is full, you can't add any more to it...no matter how small that amount might be. I'm not just making up excuses for the sake of it...if there was a practical, reliable, affordable way to be doing our own commentary then I'd be all over it.

Definitely keep the ideas and suggestions coming...you never know when an idea that's not been thought of elsewhere might just spark something. What we won't do is something half-assed. Not only does that just lead to frustration from the viewer/listeners end, it annoys those trying to provide the service and risks driving them away as well. As soon as we can do something reliably, we'll be on it.

Radio coverage
Absolutely, it will be the next step in the progression of CaleyJagsTV.com - but likely that it will be home matches only and not available until fiber is installed in the area around the stadium...which they keep pushing the date back on!!! Don't be expecting it for £4 a month though

As I said in my previous post....there's simply not enough upstream to cope with what we need at the moment, far less adding more. In regards the phone app solution....try using your 3G connection at a stadium around HT or FT and you could struggle. So much so that even wireless phone dongles connected to a laptop are all but useless at these times. I've never seen any journalist or reporter (BBC or otherwise) even attempting to use these things. All of them use the Glensound boxes...even those not live on air and only providing updates will do so using them.

Radio coverage
There's insufficient upstream to cope reliably with what's needed at present...so sticking anything else on to the broadband is not an option. If it was, then a couple of headsets, a mixer and a laptop would be all that's needed and we'd be doing it by now. However, it's not just our stadium we need to set up for, we also need to set up for away games and wifi/internet is not offered to press at some places. The only all round.reliable solution would be the use of a Glensound Broadcaster/Commentator Box (or similar) with a Dual Codec...and they're not cheap, even second hand...starting at around £2000+vat. Suitable headsets start at around £150+vat. Add in cables, spares, carry cases and you're easily beyond £3000.

Their deal is up the end of this season, whereas MP & Silva have the rights for the next 10 years (is them who brokered the China deal). Looks like this season is the transition and MP & Silva appear eager to actively use/market their rights a bit more than Sportfive were...certainly latterly.

That's because we haven't won the lottery and it's still the same effing system

CJT cup semi final statement
Think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head there Kingsmill. Privatisation means everything is now controlled 100% by profit...or whether or not they can screw money out of the public purse to (more than) offset possible losses.

The BBC do not own the rights to broadcast match commentary for the league outside of the UK.

Yeah he'll be fine....only really has any pain about 30 minutes before kick-off.

You don't have to be a coach/official (or player) to be in the dugout. You just have to be listed as an occupant with the match officials before the game. The only rules that determine occupation relates to the number of people allowed and this varies by competition. Our dugout at Hibs included a groundsman and kitman. As I understand it, Foran won't be allowed in the dugout, but that is entirely due to his suspension...he will also be restricted on when he is allowed in the tunnel, dressing room or allowed to sit in the direct vicinity of the technical area (something that the official missed with Kenny Shiels when he sat behind the away dugout when sent to the stand at our place).

Radio coverage
I should add, that the poor internet at the stadium is down to what's realistically available. No fiber (yet) and to get own black fiber installed would cost between £5k & £10k before you even look at the operating costs.
-
Radio coverage
Live match commentary is on our (the media teams) list of things we want to be providing and it will come....we just can't (yet) give a commitment as to "when". Cost is the biggest limiting factor. The equipment needed would be an easy £3k, but probably nearer £4k by the time you add in accessories etc. Operating via an internet connection is not feasible due to bandwidth/reliability (or should I say, lack of bandwidth/reliability)...both at our own and other stadiums.

John Hughes has seemingly been interviewed according to the Daily Express. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/445506/John-Hughes-interviewed-by-Inverness-for-manager-post Aside from paper-talk, If I'm not mistaken, the only concrete facts we know are that the club has interviewed Paul Hartley. Everything else is speculation! I must have missed the clubs press release on Paul Hartley being interviewed!

The new manager thread
I can assure you that these updates are purely driven by the Chairman wanting to keep the fans up to date (as much as is possible/practical) and are in no way influenced by, or in response too, the press/media speculation and chat.
