  1. Reports down here in the New Zealand press say that Butcher is on a shortlist for the vacant All Whites Coaching role. Other candidates on the shortlist are Iain Dowie and Lawrie Sanchez. Seemingly more than 100 applications were received from across the globe. Would be a nice job to get though - frequent travel to Fiji, The Cook Islands, Tonga, Samoa, Tahiti, New Caledonia, Vanuatu and The Solomon Islands as well as numerous parts of Asia. A bit different from going to Dundee, Aberdeen, Motherwell Paisley and occasionally Buckie.
  2. Will the Shetlands and Orkneys vote to leave Scotland if the Yes vote succeeds? Reports here in NZ say that this is a real possibility. A bit like the Inuit in northern Quebec voting to leave Quebec and return to Canada should Quebec vote for independence. Would the Western Isles follow suit? Could the Highlands also leave an Independent Scotland? Reports here in NZ indicate that the drive for Independence is largely driven by the disaffected inhabitants of the Central belt of Scotland where strong nationalistic tendencies abide and that as a result Scotland could split two or three ways after Independence takes place.
  3. Must check out my entitlement to U.K. pension payments forgot about this. I wonder how much I will get?
  4. Bit more drama plz. dougiedanger - I am trying very hard to achieve the level of drama exhibited by a few of the more frequent posters on this topic but it is not easy. I am not a natural drama Queen/King. So I am doing the best I can to match them but it is obvious that they are past masters in the art and have had countless years of practice.
  5. Nationality is a legal bond between a state and an individual. Also The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights states that everyone has the right to a nationality and no one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his nationality nor denied the right to change his nationality. Possession of a nationality carries with it the diplomatic protection of the country of nationality. This referendum has the potential to change all that for me and all other Scots living overseas. Yet we are not allowed a say or a voice in the matter. No one posting here so far has been able or capable of telling me what will happen to our nationality status should Scotland cede from Britain. This is because they do not know and they do not have clue what will happen. They are just trusting that she'll be right mate as they say here in NZ. Not a very clever way to make a decision about your nationality and your future. Also no one has presented a compelling or sound argument as to why we the minority group that live overseas should not be included in the vote. I feel an appeal to the UN and the European Commission coming on given our minority status.
  6. From The Chosen One to The Sacked One in less than a season. Did Moyes deserve longer than he got to get United back on track. On this basis Fergie would not have lasted a season either.
  7. But this referendum is not like "any election". It is about permanent independence for Scotland - the land of my birth and the country that defines my nationality and my passport. It is about a matter which has the potential to significantly ( and permanently ) alter and affect my identity and status and the identity and status of all Scots living outside Scotland for the rest of their lives. Yet we/they are not allowed a voice! I am being told that because I don't live physically in Scotland I get no say in the matter of my Nationality, passport and status being changed forever. I now know what it feels like to have my human rights ignored, abused and violated while people stand by unconcerned and uncaring.
  8. Why is it that only the Scots who live in Scotland get to vote on Independence? Surely the Scots who live outside of Scotland and outside of the U.K. have the right to vote on Scottish Independence - and if not - why not? Personally I would like to vote in this referendum. I am a Highlander born and bred. Like many of my compatriots I am now living overseas ( in NZ ). Surely we are all entitled to vote.
  9. Those were the days when you played on snow covered pitches. Only cancelled if there was severe ice underneath. Remember Murd well - great guy but a tough taskmaster. Even though he had you spewing over the touchline from exertion he expected you to keep going and fight through it. From memory he trained as hard as the players. RIP
  10. Great opportunity for a North Atlantic group - Scotland, Iceland, Nth Ireland, Faeroe Islands and hopefully Greenland. I reckon if we played in this group we would get at least six points from playing Greenland and come in second last. Bring it on I say! A chance for Scotland to capture former glories.
