  1. Can't remember being put in the "shed" before. Always used to be a section of the main stand or the enclosure.
  2. This was a great performance that seems to have signalled end of the road for McKinnon. Better team all over the pitch, vigurs motm by a mile. He was immense as was polly. Only their keeper that kept it respectable. Brilliant.
  3. I'm nonplussed at this. There's no sniping. There's constructive informed criticism from people who have previously invested a lot in cjt. That's all.
  4. I would concur with every word of this post. I would also immediately say I'm happy to be one of the 35 at any time. Well said Don.
  5. Sorry charles, it's a purely binary thing. Dead or alive. Given it's constitution, it really needs an answer from their board as to whether or not they are still in a position to function. If yes, all well and good. If not, my understanding is that the shares would revert to the ownership of the club (as in the present board) I have asked this type of question before and await any answers.
  6. Caley jags together hold a significant shareholding in these circumstances. How do they intend to use these shares or consult the membership on how they should be used in any possible boardroom schism?
  7. Recorded something post match with the manager, you should get it on the website early in the week. Audio only.
  8. Sorry RiG, but the bit of your post I've underlined is simple unadulterated bull sh*t. I know that Don tried to recruit people (and did) after years of us - Don, Andy, Jack and myself - going to every game home and away to cover it, often at considerable cost and for precious little thanks. Do you know that a lot of the equipment used to give you highlights was bought by the people concerned? That they were paid not a single penny for their efforts? Got absolutely no freebies? Got hassle after hassle from people who really didn't want to be interviewed? Fought to get a better internet connection for the stadium so that we could broadcast highlights? And on a few occasions even paid their own petrol costs. Passwords? least of the problems. And then you tell us that we didn't want help? I'll tell you that I had actually tried to leave that media team so many times that Don and Andy were sick of hearing it because I was spending less and less time with family etc. I couldn't, simply because I could see on one on the horizon that would do the job and I didn't want yet more work foisted upon the rest of the team who are my mates. Don got new guys in and I went (to another unpaid, gladly volunteered matchday job) faster than snow off a dyke. Thanks for covering yourself with "maybe I've picked it up wrong etc." but that doesn't actually justify any of that rubbish. I'm raging that you can put utter tripe on this forum masquerading as considered opinion. It's not and a retraction would be nice. I'll wait.
  9. As part of that media team for a long time, I can safely say that without @CaleyD there would have been no media presence at the club and what you are getting now is what you would always have had - or worse. Another guy who took nothing out of the club - no pay, no freebies, nothing. Someone who drove the team all over the country in his own car, sometimes at his own cost. A guy who drove a clapped out club minibus to Charlton and back with @ANDYCAM. Someone who singlehandedly got the team progressing from written previews and reports to pre and post match video and then on to match coverage with commentary. Someone who occasionally bought equipment that was needed. Someone who put our club twitter account into the realms of national coverage and recognition and facilitated the main star of that twitter account into accomplishing things that he never thought he could. (In the spirit of the "stig", that bit will remain cryptic) Put the club and CJT's web pages together and maintained them. All of this was done in circumstances that were far from ideal, sometimes with little cooperation and appreciation and occasionally at detriment to his health. Of course, being club media, it was never our job to hold the players or manager to account. We were there to support and the MSM could do the other stuff. It has been difficult sometimes to see the carping and personalised rubbish written on here and directed by people who, if they had put in half of @CaleyDs effort would have made a real difference to the club and it's suppporters. Still, it's easier to snipe. As @Fraz says, sometimes you just don't know what you've got until it's gone. Thanks for a great experience Don. You'll be missed.
  10. I suppose that Kenny Cameron’s resignation had a ring of inevitability about it after we were finally relegated. It’s a sad way to end a Chairmanship that delivered a degree of success that might never be bettered. Scottish Cup winners, League Cup finalists, Championship winners and UEFA league qualifiers. That’s a hell of an achievement for what, in anyone’s definition, is a relative football backwater. That all of this was done on the back of a small support and an almost complete absence of financial backing makes it even more noteworthy. I’ve read a lot on here in the past couple of days that bears no resemblance to the man that I know. Uncaring? I’ve witnessed the pain when things have gone wrong. Uninvolved? I’ve seen the tears of utter pride and joy at Hampden. Uncommunicative? Time and again I’ve struggled to get a word in edgeways. There’s a tale of someone fetching up at the stadium looking for a “tour” and being shown around by “this old guy”. Time and again he’s chatted to our mascots, patiently explaining about why we couldn’t sign Messi – at least not this week. He didn’t take a salary. This is not a man who didn’t care. As a former Chair of CJT, he helped us achieve things that we could never have done without his support. He was instrumental in getting funding to charter the trains that took our fans to the League Cup Final against Aberdeen. As far as I know, it’s not been repeated. Any initiative for pricing and ticketing, he always involved us. Sticking up for us against the League’s central belt bias? Every time. I know that Kenny was incredibly well regarded by others in the SPFL as someone who was both engaged and genuine and the club benefited from that influence. However, if things go wrong there are fewer more exposed positions to be in than a football Chairman or Manager and when change happens it’s usually sudden, unpredictable and pretty brutal. That’s where we are right now and why there’s been the amount of anger expressed here over the last few weeks and months. Mistakes have undoubtedly been made but now cool heads are required to identify a clear plan to take us back to the Premiership and this year – of all years – it’s achievable. There is no Rangers, Hibs or Hearts to mount a challenge against and the club will rise to the challenge with the support of all of us, including Kenny’s successor. On a personal note, Kenny was a stranger to me when I first met him through the club. I now count him as a friend and I’m a happy boy that we shared experiences from Glasgow to Bucharest. Enjoy your retirement with Christine. You’ve earned it.
  11. Well done, wish you the best of luck and full buses all year.
  12. Laurence. A bit like CB, I’ve avoided this one because it becomes wearisome to witness the amount of bunkum churned up and presented as fact by both sides. Mostly, it’s just that – bunkum, but occasionally there comes along one dripping in arrogance, half truth, misplaced observation and plain falsehood. It’s usually unionist and your post fits the bill Before anyone gets apoplectic I’ll explain why. That Scotland cannot afford to be independent is simply untrue. Economically, brexit – driven and idealogically born in England - changes everything. The economic cost to the UK of leaving the EU could be as high as a reduction of 10 per cent in average incomes by 2030. If Scotland, by becoming independent, can avoid that fate then there is a clear long term economic gain. Also, if it can remain in the single market, it becomes a gateway to inward investment and immigration that the UK used to be. David Davis for RUK, on the other hand hasn’t even counted the cost (see his answers to Hillary Benn in committee this week) A hard brexit will mean potentially crippling levels of tariff imposed on Scottish goods. The question actually is that can Scotland afford NOT to be independent. NHS Scotland has an annual budget of £12.2 billion per year and as you know is paid for through general taxation (including that levied on it’s 160,00 or so employees) As you know, general taxation is not tied to oil and gas revenue so I can’t really see where the direct correlation arises. Anayway, the oil and gas industry is not funded by UK treasury. Income from it has dropped to £60 million per year from £8.1 billion per year – bad enough in it’s self – but your assertion isn’t true. It’s possible to improve overall economics by growing revenue (see above) and redefining spending priorities such as not continuing to fund part of a £205 billion spend on nuclear submarines. There’s your NHS. OPEC has always controlled oil prices and this will not affect Scotland more than it will any other country. The current crisis has been precipitated by OPEC driving down prices to make (mainly) US fracking unsustainable. Given that Scotlands policy is to be 50% reliant on renewables by 2030 (currently, scottish renewable generation makes up approximately 26.4% of total UK output) If oil prices rise again by 2022 (your figure, not mine) the net revenue rises against a lower cost base. All to the good, improves overall economics. I needn’t point out that none of this is UK Gvernment policy. There are 2.52 million income taxpayers in Scotland (8.5% of UK total) generating £11.4 billion per annum. They can (and do) support the country. Scottish productivity is 4 times that of the UK average. The balance of payments (structural deficit) is challenging but addressing it “as is” implies no change in funding, policy or investment in the case of independence. You can bet your bottom dollar that change would in fact be rapid, progressive and egalitarian in focus. Your next two points regarding trucks at gretna and their contents are demostrably nonsense but they illustrate a point. It’s where the drippy arrogance comes in. Discount whisky, salmon, beef and lamb, chemicals, petroleum products, electronics, renewables and textiles which accounted for £4.3 billion in revenue in 2013. Discount that almost two-thirds of Scotland's total exports fall into five categories: business services, instrument engineering, chemicals, food and beverages, and mechanical engineering. There is expertise in this country. Other Scottish exports include textiles and equipment and technology relating to renewable energies. Discount that top importers of Scottish products include Germany, France, the Netherlands and the United States Timber and Livestock ? Wheesht.. Whilst we are at it, the Greece argument is utter tosh and originally produced as a headline in the Times, nothing more. It was based on data and methodology which was flawed to say the least (it quotes, for instance, the Scottish “addiction” to tax and spend) and has been widely discredited. Greece was an economic basket case and bears no resemblance to the Scottish scenario. There you have it friend. Not a single point you have made stands scrutiny. I appreciate and welcome your right to input and put forward arguments but at least “do the math” before committing – that way you might realise that you will have no bill to pay.
  13. Hello Charles. As usual, so much to take to task in what is an utterly incontinent post. I don't know if it's an image you are fostering but you are increasingly coming across as a puce faced old colonel in danger of blowing a righteously indignant gasket as you strain away. Anyhow, let's disabuse you (again) on the quantumly small chance you will listen. The SNP have heehaw to do with the other two examples of people elected solely on the grounds of popular disconnect between the political mainstream and the electorate. Michael Moore - a vastly more respectable intellect than you - has called this the greatest "f*ck you" in history. That's all there is behind this. There is, as may well become frighteningly apparent with Trump, no plan. That has already become utterly transparent with Brexit. The SNP can't be lumped in there because it is the political mainstream in Scotland and doesn't seem to suffer the same ills as Labour, Democrats et al. It will only do this if and when it has disillusioned it's core support - whether that support is left/ right/ centre is immaterial. It's leaders do not espouse discrimination, bigotry or hatred despite having an independence agenda. One other thing - there are boltholes for "politically illiterate cranks" in Scottish politics but I fear that those wishing to flee to them will have to share with an inconinent old colonel that others stopped listening to years ago. Still, you should enjoy their company.
  14. Well done Mods, a brave move although when the name calling and whataboutery that places like P&B can descend into is compared our disagreements ours are minor and very polite. There must, however be room for people to disagree and be given the room to do so - everyone who uses this forum is hopefully mature enough to spot spurious argument when its there - even IHE. BTW I don't like the "young crew" (what a dreadful name) behaving in ways that are liable to bring them into conflict with others but neither do I want them to be disenfranchised and wander away to watch something else or nothing at all. We need all the fans we can get and if we only have to put up with the odd ill-judged action or comment is that something those of us who ruefully have that t-shirt just have to put up with? I think that's worth thinking about. The only genuinely worrying thing in this whole thread is Charles Bannerman comparing (presumably his own) "gentleman's equipment" to a car exhaust pipe. Is this warranted? We should be told. Mods........
  15. I have a rule mate, it's stop digging when you are in a hole. I can tell you (with some authority) that 1 in 10 people will develope a mental health problem at some point in their life. This is regardless of socioeconomic status or education. There should be services in place for all of these people but there are specialised areas that require a distinct focus such as age related mental health, addiction issues and gender specific issues to name a few. Addressing one does not mean that you ignore everything else (which is what you are coming across as saying) you simply do what you can. That is laudable.
  16. This. One in ten people will experience an episode of mental ill health at some point in their lives. This is fact. This is regardless of their job, economic or marital status. It is also regardless of their tattoo status. Every one of that 1:10 deserves support and if this is a way of reaching a notoriously difficult to engage group (young men in this case) it is unequivocally good.Superficial judgementalism is not.
  17. there were no negatives today. Simply plusses all over the park and in the stands. Great day, great win
  18. It should be noted that under Paatelainen, Tannadice had become a dysfunctional place and was riddled with bizarre and plain bad behaviour. Gunning was not alone .I know this after being treated to some information leaked from the dressing room directly - something that has never and does not happen at ICTFC. I would be a wee bit circumspect about some of the above posts.
  19. C'mon lads, please. Caley D has tried to help, given the options and then given people an option to contact the club if they really (italics to clarify the tone of the expression) don't like it. How is that pompous? What gets me in all of this is that the "official" name of the Club is "The Inverness Caledonian and Thistle Football Club" so if there is any abbreviation that should be universally accepted it's ITCFC! For a good while, fans of the football club and unconnected with what goes on social media at it have used the "pride of the highlands" to describe all sorts of things from pictures of us in Bucharest, Dingwall, Hampden to all points in between. It's something that has been reused by fans on Facebook and their own twitter ID's. It's gone on flags. Now, because it goes on a shirt (as an addition to an unaltered club badge) it provokes this reaction? I'm ever so slightly mystified.
  20. Complete bunkum Bannerman and you know it. I laboured under the illusion that you were a highlander by descent but I suppose being associated with nats would rule that out and explains the peculiar wording of your second sentence. Anyhow, the obese and allegedly homosexual Duke's mother was German (Caroline of Ansbach) and his father nominally English. His house was of Brunswick - Luneberg (Hanover), his Godparents the King and Queen in Prussia and nominally English Dad was actually an elector of the Holy Roman Empire. He has not a drop of Scottish blood, ancestry or tie. I look forward to the day that you get down from your high horse and give it a fair opportunity to hoof your disingenuous *rse
  21. quick half day today and then the ritual bike ride to a pre-season game! Gies a toot if you see me.
  22. This is a real statement of intent by the Board and Richie. I can't think of anyone more committed to the place who is better qualified to lead us forward. His football knowledge, determination, willingness to embrace learning gives me great hope for the season ahead and I'm sure that the whole dressing room will be chuffed that he's got the job.I see an answer to those who thought recently that the board were distant and disconnected from the fans - they've been listening it would seem. Some might be concerned at Richie's lack of experience, but I'd rather that than the "usual suspects" that queue up looking for another job at the first hint of a vacancy. Well done all, togetherness indeed.
