  1. No, but we've booked the "Sightseeing in Inverness" open-top bus for our SPL winner's parade next season.

Does the City Of Inverness do anything to recognize the team winning the 1st div Championship ?
  2. I'm with you Renegade. I don't see supporting a club/national team including the assumption that you must hate your nearest rivals by geographical determination.

Having said that however; I'd rather England over County - purely because I don't want any of my Black Isle pals to have any bragging rights!

Not bothered about the results of either. I find all this hatred and rivalry stuff a bit pathetic and a bit cringeworthy.
  3. Here, here! Let's all get along! :bighug:

Just read this thread, after a great holiday in the sun, and I see not much has changed among some. The OP offers up a single, at no cost, to help the team, the fans, and wherever the proceeds go. Another person offers a very good design for comment, prior to publication. He has also agreed that permissions would be sought as to any copyright issues. People trying to be positive and also trying to guide each other on the little intricacies that go with such a venture. All good points. And points that I'm sure the owners of the copyright of images used would welcome.

Such a shame then that the two main persons concerned find their idea's, and invitations for comment, turn into what I can only describe as a bit of bitchiness.

This thread is about a song and a cover sleeve. It has absolutely nothing to do with copyright of images used for other projects, nor even images posted by members of this site in other areas of this site. It could be construed that we are all guilty of some breach of copyright in what we place on the site, though my view in that tends to be that if the owner of an image places it on a public hosting site then its fair game for others to use it.

All that said. I think the song idea is a fantastic gesture from the OP and look forward to hearing words and music. (will I be breaching his copyright if I sing it?). I also think the artwork is an excellent concept and that with some suggestions being put forward and a little tweaking here and there will turn out as something that the real owners of the images used would have no problem in allowing. Peter Paul would never have a problem with his image being used so long as he is approached beforehand. I dont see the club, as owners of the crest, having a problem either. I'm also sure both could be acknowledged within the finished article.

  4. Pretty glad of this news if it's true.

I do remember a forum thread last season highlighting the fact that many fans thought Granty's captaincy was distracting him from his duty as CB in the SPL. Hopefully all parties concerned are happy with the decision and Grant, Richie and the team will profit from the decision (should the rumour be true, that is!).

  5. I don't think anyone outside the OF will win it (obviously; who ever does?), but I would have to say that any team in the SPL who put together a great run quite easily could. Any team in that league is capable of beating any other on their day - the keys to the title are stability, bottle, experience and an enormous squad!

    BELIEVE

  6. Cheers Rev. Aye as I've said I wouldn't dream of using this image without the consent of all parties concerned outwith this forum where it seems that the distribution of images concerning the club is pretty relaxed.

I'll take into account all suggestions for a next alteration of the design!

I agree with CaleyD on this one, image copyright like music copyright is something you need to have in place. Im sure the copyright holders will be ok with it once they learn of its use.

How many times are images posted on these forums without consent? Just look at the light hearted Ross C*unty threads. Wyness13 has clearly stated that if he were to use the image any further then he would ask permission. I really do not see the problem here, if there was a problem I am sure the admin would have offending images removed or would not post copyrighted images themselves.

  7. The base image is mine CaleyD, taken privately at the end of the Dundee game. The top-layer is a crop of Cox's legs from a photo taken from the caleyjags.com site which was sent to me in high-resolution after I requested it; if this image were to actually be used for a final piece of artwork I would ask permission from the site for it to be included in a final distributed design.

The crest I found in an image-search from google but surely all rights to the crest are owned by the club and this would pose no problem if the image was used?

  8. You could be right about Hayes but I've always wondered whether his physical presence (or lack of) will play a part in his capability in the SPL. If used the right way he could completely take defences by storm, if not I fear he could become very frustrating as there is no question of the talent and ability there! Some of his SFL "signature moves" may be brushed off by bigger, stronger and more capable SPL defenders - here's hoping that he takes the step-up in his stride though and continues his reputation as one of the best players ever to play in an ICT shirt!

I think players such as Roscoe, Foran, Hayes, Duncan, Munro should easily cope with the step up to the SPL. But, I think Rooney, Odhiambo, Sanchez might take a while to settle in to begin with.

Odhiambo is far from the finished article, so i'd expect his appearances to be from the bench.

It depends on Rooney's character, if he can go 75 mins or so without a sniff at goal, and then take one chance and score, it's ok, but some strikers need to warm up with a few chances early on, that wont happen too often, so ability is there but is the mental strength.

One player who i think will set the heather alight is Hayes. He will be rightly targeted as the dangerman, but he can handle that, i think ICT may see a lot of money being offered for him, a record amount for the club.

  9. These would be my changes exactly, apart from McBain who I would also give 3.

I agree with all of that apart from Golly should have 3, Tokely should have 3 and sanchez 3.
  10. I am considering going through to the game from Glasgow to sit in the Killie end!

After the grief of last season (not only the 1-0 at the end of the season but the 4-0 at Falkirk which still haunts me)I hope Falkirk spiral down to the third division and never recover.

  11. You seem to have missed the part of iamthecaptain1's post which explained that it would only really be feasible if they would take the wage cut!

I've seen Teale in a couple of televised Derby games and he looked pretty good!

Won't be able to afford either of them. Next.
  12. Also says that on his debut he got sent off and Ipswich lost 3-0!! :021:

Van Zanten was linked to ICT before of course, just after he left Hibs. According to Wikipedia, Eastman is an eighteen year old, Ipswich centre-half. And a pretty tall one too at 6"3.
  13. Thanks.

Yeah I suppose even with a download-only single most media players have album artwork spots and they can be added to the downloadable file for this purpose exactly! I will make a few changes etc. as collectiveaction has pointed out I could really do with some red in there somewhere!

    Real Nice Wyness13...

I am thinking about a download only single, but a including cover will allow people to add this to their media player

    Here's an updated version taking into account a request for the presence of the colour red in the design by collectiveaction;

  14. Very rough conceptual design! Chose not to include the face of players or managers in the images as hopefully club song is something that can last throughout the careers of many! Was also unsure about font...

  15. YYAAAAAAAAAASSSS!

Excellent show of loyalty from Hayes to the club and the manager as I'm sure he will have been offered contracts all over the place! I reckon he's going to tear the SPL apart! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face Johnny!

  16. My point is that a player like Alexander (I am no longer being specific as what I am trying to iterate would be specific to any experienced player moving to ICT) who is coming to the end of his career at the age of 38, may take the wages that ICT would offer as his priorities lie in playing his final year of football in Scotland and the wages are irrelevant as I agree that ICT would not be able to afford the type of wage that he is currently on at Burnley.

As for Pressley being an example of a player who was out of favour at his club, I believe that Alexander is quite a similar case due to his age. Perhaps he would be more suited to a role as a squad player at a Scottish club like ICT than a position in a Burnley squad trying to win promotion in the Championship.

I know what I am trying to say in terms of fans having to have faith in their own team's ability to draw players in even if I am not making it clear; I'm sorry if this is the case. I just feel that for us to shake the stigma attached to our club with regards to our ability to attract players, we have to believe as supporters that our club is attractive as the first step in making it so. All it takes is one or two big names to move to a club to put it on the map to other quality players, and with the likes of Terry Butcher at the club, coupled with the incredible success of our squad this past season - we are surely becoming more and more attractive to players who wish to play for a successful Scottish side with plenty of potential for future growth.

However, as I've said I don't want to argue about this case of Graham Alexander in particular as it is a very speculative rumour given that all we know is that A Scottish team is looking around him. I maintain however that this idea is not ridiculous in the case of any similar player, as I believe our team to be a very attractive one with a promising and capable squad, a great and well-known management and a support that is loyal throughout the team's successes and failures - something that is harder to find in teams at the top-end of the SPL where success becomes expected.

The point of your argument that I disagree with is the fact that "we wouldn't have a hope of getting Graham Alexander". My post earlier in this thread was regarding everything that the club has to offer and how we have grown in stature and history over the 16 years we have been in business. As for budget, Alexander has surely amassed quite an income through playing for Burnley and may well just want to end his footballing carer playing in Scotland while taking the drop of wages in his stride.

You're talking about his budget. I am concentrating on ICTs. If Alexander were to come in his wages would break our structure, something that will not happen again post Niculae (the club have said this incidentally).

We have sen this in established Scottish players moving to the likes of Falkirk in Stephen Pressley's case; a player who once player for Celtic moving to a smaller club with a lower SPL status and obviously taking reduced wages.

Erm, slight difference with that one. Alexander has been a Burnley regular this season. When Pressley moved he was well out of the picture at Celtic and desperate for first team football knowing he wouldn't get it at Celtic. The scenarios are hardly similar.

all I'm saying is that as a club and a support, we need to start believeing that this type of transfer is feasable - otherwise nobody else will and we will remain an understated club with little pulling-power.

So to make ICT a more "attractive club" for potential signings we need to believe that unrealistic rumours of players signing for us are possible therefore leading to other players signing for us? wacko.gif
