  1. Isn't that the level we tend to sign from in the English Leagues [or lower] , McAlear being the exception
  2. Striker signed on loan today Joe Hardy from Accrington Stanley Might have seen him play on Saturday if I hadn't tested positive for Covid 19 today
  3. Last time I looked we were 2nd in the table, with a game in hand, having lost just 4 games all season, we had a great run at the start of the season, as we did at the end of last season, and yes whilst we've struggled a bit recently, with different players having issues, and with what seems like a bit of dressing room unrest (dealt with) but very few teams, especially on a small budget can expect to go all season firing on all cylinders. Every player brought in so far this year has done all right [save perhaps Duku, who hopefully will have a purple patch soon]. Can we get Carson firing again in midfield rather than RB or can we get good combo's in Welsh/Mclear/MacGregor and the two new boys. Seen some good comments for both of the new boys on twitter from fans of their mother clubs, so I'm hopeful The defence looks a bit short so we might need a fresh face there
  4. Hmm....Allardice and Carson normally so good, and MacGregor too [is he coming back from injury?] Hopefully just a bit of mid-winter lethargy, but an injection of an influential face might help.
  5. Chuffed with that result, on the basis if you can't win the game, don't lose it, [especially grabbing the equaliser late] and with Arbroath losing we are in a 2nd decent place, even though Kilmarnock won. Thinking we need a couple of additions perhaps loans in January, maybe a winger and someone in the middle like Scott Allan back again [although he looks ever presentat Hibs] Is Daniel Mackay injured at Hibs or could we get him back on loan?
  6. Caley winning 6-1 away, and Palace beating Everton at home [deservedly] for the first time in years makes E4C a very happy bunny. Good to see Jamieson and McClear get their first league goals for the club, and Sutherland deserved his brace on recent performances....looking forward to a trip up North of the Border for Killie away in January, just hope I'm not screwed by more Covid restrictions
  7. Good performance all round, defence looks pretty strong, and Billy Mac back to his best. A great goal by Welsh, but the man who caught my eye was Shane Sutherland, one of his best games foir us, won the ball so often and rarely got it taken from him, unlucky not to score.
  8. That was the best atmosphere I've heard at a home Caley game on TV for a while probably helped by the location near the TV camera box? I saw some glimpses of the crowd there and it looked good!
  9. It looks like the board did well signing Dodds as the manager, having handled John Robertson's situation very well. They have done well again with recruitment for the team, with what appears an excellent mix of youth and experience, but all talented...the number of players on decent length contracts is another factor that has to be helpful Few of us would have dreamed that we would make quite the start that we have, and it sounds like yesterday's result was highly deserved. Good to hear that guys like Broadfoot and Gardyne, whose signings were met with a little bit of eyebrow raising along with Devine whose re-signing last season triggered the same reaction are delivering to a good level. I managed to swing past the stadium a couple of weeks ago, with my wife, as we started our holiday around the North Coast 500 route in generally excellent weather, and picked up a Caley face mask which I look forward to wearing in various places down here in South London, we spent three days in total in Inverness, and it was a real delight to be back. Trying to sort a trip up for a home game, but Kilmarnock away in Jan is on!
  10. You've obviously missed that we are supposed to use three word slogans these days...lets hope it's at least "Mckay. Scores. Another" Was a bit despondent losing Toddy after Daniel had gone, but Walsh, McKay and Duku are all welcome replacements.
  11. i want him at Palace...especially with Eze out for 9months. it wont happen of course
  12. This seems like a decent move especially because of his involvement towards the end of the season, which saw a much more confident and effective team switch from looking over their shoulders at a relegation battle to narrowly missing out on the play-offs Just need to find a couple or three players now to turn us from play-off favourites to proper candidates for automatic promotion. It'll be interesting to see if Kilmarnock can recover quickly from the shock of relegation and whether Partick Thistle will do a Raith Rovers or better next season (and can Raith repeat their form for a 2nd season)
  13. He always seemed to do OK in games I saw, but I think he had a very poor run last year? I don't think he let us down too much this season, did he?
  14. Hmm..according to https://www.spotrac.com/epl/payroll/ Palace have the 7th highest wage bill in the EPL ...only the 'Big 6' have a higher wage bill, it has certainly limited who we could bring in the past couple of years, but in theory, we are not a team of donkeys. It certainly is interesting to see Caley assemble teams on a shoestring on a regular basis, that at least entertain [some days], and put the effort in [most days] and vie for the top places or play-offs.
  15. The main thing about the Championship, is that it's a lot better than being in League 1! It does strike me that there tends to be one really strong front runner most seasons, with nearly everyone below fairly even. Had we retained Dan Mackay for next season and if we Todorov, I would have felt quite confident we could be the front runner, especially if we could sort the wing position, as midfiel, defence and goalkeeping all look strong, or strong enough. Not too much for the next manager to resolve hopefully if there are any funds
  16. Good grief no! He's a lovely man and all that, but Palace have conceded more goals this season than virtually anyone bar the relegated, and our forward play has been pretty dire!
  17. I'm gutted, as I saw him a big part of a promotion push next season, but it's the way of the world unfortunately, and he deserves it. At least we got a fee, and given how tight finance probably are, that's a good thing, hope it means we can secure Toddy for another year, and Miles
  18. I think the high turnover has played a big part, especially with a small squad. However we seem to have the nucleus of a really decent team, with three youngsters coming on strongly (Daniel in particular). One or two players like Toddy need to be signed up for next season, and one of either McHattie or Brad (because retaining players with known strengths/weaknesses is probably easier than searching for new). We need a decent winger signed, then we decide on either Aaron or Miles to be retained Not getting into the promotion play-offs is a blow, but would be a huge ask to go all the way, from 3rd/4th place.....If we are going to get out of this league I think we need to win it. Can we finish the season playing the long delayed Challenge Cup final [ideally after Raith have had a knackering and unsuccessful play-off campaign]? Given that we had quite a few injuries, then lots of game cancellations, Managerial issues and we were looking over our shoulder at one stage at possible relegation play-offs, I am pretty satisfied as I think we have a proper springboard for next season. I have enjoyed our season much more than my other team Palace's [which has redined the meanings of dire and under-performing]. Given the backdrop of a horrible year because of the pandemic, I'm really excited at the prospect of seeing Caley live again next season. I just wonder who our manager will be.
  19. Fabulous news.... Another illustration of the Club doing a good job, in what has been an incredibly challenging year and a bit
  20. I'm rather hoping that Hearts, having secured promotion, will gently roll over for us!
  21. What a great result! Following via various apps is hard work, especially as it seems Morton came on really strong after half time. The corner count is widely in their favour! Fortunately Toddy was on fire tonight...I'm think of adopting him! And Daniel did it again..... Hopefully Storey will be spurred on to go on a scoring run for himself. McCann and Dodds seem to have worked out the right combo's, but the bench looked a wee sparse tonight...hopefully guys like Welsh, were given the night off to be ready for Saturday, and we'll need contributions from guys like Duffy, McHattie, and Keatings for the run in and the Cup [if we were to beat St Mirren, but were still in with shout of the play-offs we might have to take a decision which is more important].... Good to see Vincent get some game time, and Allardice reminding us what a decent signing he is! Of course every game at this stage is important when in this position, Saturday is a 'mustn't lose' game if we can't secure the win...but we have some big momentum running
  22. Yes....I saw that, incredible really. I am falling in love with that guy!
  23. I can't believe he is only 19, he is the sort of gamechanger that every side needs [certainly at this level, and eventually at Premiership level], he'll have off-days of course, but he has been very influential this season. As someone else said, Devine has done well this season, and has been under-rated. Strong performances all round, but Toddy is surely becoming a bit of a cult figure.
  24. We're saving it for the play-offs..the best time for it
