  1. rebelwithoutaclue x 2 please
  2. A pity. Sort of felt last season I wanted to see more of him but there was a lot of competition for the midfield slots. Wish him well (except obvious times of games against us or that affect us). Everyone who was there that day remembers that last gasp 9 man equaliser - what football memories are made of. Should he not have been due a testimonial after 14 years? Thanks Nick
  3. Booked KLM Aberdeen-amsterdam-bucharest. Out wed morn 0920 leave sat tea time. £260. As good as anything else I could see out of Edinburgh or Glasgow. Inverness prices already...ouch. 1.5 hr stopover schipol. Figured no point paying over the odds just to rush back on a Fri when it's the weekend. Staying in Bucharest. Decent prices in good hotels. went for Radisson Blue. hostels 3 nights £15 -5 star hotel £300+ and loads in between. See you there at some bar somewhere!
  4. Disappointed with shape we went with today. Moving Greg tansey out of central role. Own goal was a bit of a farce. Marley goal class. Marley dive when he should've got the ball to tap into open goal -oh dear. Danny Williams not up to physical challenge today. But on a really grotty day we're are unbeaten and have collected another point.
  5. Sitting here grinning -Just the pick me up I needed, he is infectious . No.1 is we're safe from relegation, we're going to make a bit of money from Billy sale and John doesn't have any doubts about G Shinnie's his captains commitment to ICT until the end of the season. And by the sounds of it no-one is going to be invited in just to make up the numbers in the squad. Need to be better than what we've got - interesting. Looking forward to the rest of the season.
  6. Ah well. very disappointed he's joining Aberdeen. Life goes on though. And of course pre-contracts are not set in stone - R Brittian/St Johnstone? - Could be a change of heart yet... What if Aberdeen form dips, McInnes becomes new Rangers manger etc, etc Never say Never. Also, one player doesn't make a team and have always been very comfortable with Carl Tremarco at LB. Hope GS has a great final half season with us.
  7. I was disappointed by the turnout and was hoping for a much better response. Sneckboy's stats tell the story of the numbers we should have been beating. Personally I wouldn't risk it for a Saturday game any time soon. Still believe one of the keys to our commercial success is county demise to the lower leagues.
  8. Huffed, puffed, a bit lacklustre. got 3 points. Tansey didn't have best game today. But his cross field ball to set david raven off on the overlap to set up mackay flicked goal was class.
  9. Good to see Billy Mckay in about chances still. On another day he'll tuck them away. Happens to all strikers but you have to be there to miss in first place. As always - no faulting his work rate.
  10. First half was so-so but felt we really did have control of the game throughout. Greg Tansey's passing today was first class. Passing at the back was very assured as well and no real slip ups. Three points, clean sheet, 2 goals, top of league. Passing, movement and ball retention really was good we looked like a slick outfit.
  11. Agree Yngwie but the beeb as an information source can be a bit "selective" even if I take my Yes blinkers off. This is a corporation with a vested interest in retaining TV licence income and only temporarily withdrew from the No campaigning CBI under a bit of pubic pressure. By all means look at the beeb but I'd recommend a BusinessforScotland presentation as a challenge on that. Know firm No people who have been convinced by this fairly honest explanation of the numbers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W8cKHcZn60.
  12. The figures are the value of Scotlands exports in whisky, oil and gas. We export oil and gas as well as use it. We export refined products from oil and gas. These are nothing to do with revenue income but more to do with demonstrating that we are a thriving nation. Bear in mind that showing a healthy economy also shows that people are in employment and paying taxes. Its not just about the taxes from the profits of the companies its about the taxes from the people. There are around 42,000 employed directly and indirectly in the Scottish whisky industry and close on 200,000 in oil and gas in Scotland. Assuming an average wage of £30,000 and taxes at 20% thats 1.4 billion to the treasury. Add to that the taxes on spending (VAT, Insurance taxes etc) and it comes to a substantial amount from two industries. Yesterday or the day before the Financial Times ran an article stating that an independent Scotland would be in the top twenty of the worlds wealthiest countries. I'd provide a link but I've no intention of paying a subscription. Thanks for trying to clarify, but the figures for oil and gas cannot be annual export value. The link here http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/fff67a62-88fa-11e3-bb5f-00144feab7de.html#axzz3B7Z5SzkA is pretty factual I think and quotes a Scottish Government spokesman as saying the exports of of oil and gas in 2012 (including to the rest of the UK) to be £24.4bn. In terms of wider value to the Scottish economy, using your figures of 200,000 earning an average £30,000 gives us a wage bill of £6bn in oil and gas related activity. The value of oil related exports and the wider benefit to the economy is therefore in the region of £30bn - that is just 2% of the £1,500bn quoted in the "YES" bookle I would imagine that the figure includes sales of oil and gas, sales of petroleum products, sales of expertise, sales of technology, sales of equipment, servicing of rigs etc etc. It may surprise many people not involved in the industry exactly how much of the aforementioned comes out of the country. The installation I'm on at the minute, although built in Singapore, is built from many components sourced from Scottish companies. Sorry, can't buy that one either. The sum quoted is £300,000 for every man woman and child in Scotland and therefore cannot relate to annual figures as the rest would appear to do. Yeah you're right in your assumptions about what it is maybe less so about misleading /duping assumption. It's the estimated total sale value of known oil & gas reserves . The accepted range for known finds to be recovered is 15-24 billion barrels. Broadly speaking the £1.5 trillion pounds is based on 24 billion barrels at roughly 100 dollars per barrel. Doesn't take into account prediction for higher recover than 24 billion barrels from known finds( and there are some) or stuff not found yet. PS we don't need the oil to say Yes but it certainly a bonus to have whatever the final reserves figure comes out as.
  13. Can't ask for more. Great solid professional result.
  14. 10th or better. I used to be 11th or better but the play offs threat has raised my expectations..
  15. astounded by negativity before a ball is kicked. 1st priority every season is enough points to stay up. I hope and dream we win a treble this season but if it's not to be (and it's highly unlikely) I'll shrug my shoulders and settle for still being in SPL in 38 games time to regroup and go again. Just as long as we've given it a right good go.
  16. Saw on the Beeb that Hanwha Eagles in Korea are installing these. Any far flung CTO users interested in a seat at TCS? You can have the open air section. Hell I bet there's a fair chance some folk would be up to take your robot to the pub and an away game too. Could be the answer to our attendance slump.
  17. Not a bad idea, even having a grass area instead of a smoking area may even bring back some of the stay aways. Indeed, though a grass smoking area may not increase the volume of support it might increase food and snack sales. but would we care about the footy??
  18. Nice touch putting Dean Brill blips in black and white amongst all the colour footage. I'd have probably just used black OR white to blank it out completely though.
  19. Enough's Enough's. Must be time for a launch date at least. I'm now getting earache from my Mrs about why we don't have new strips for sale when team is back and playing and my manyana answer is just not cutting it.
  20. After a crap day at work it fair brightened up my drive home when I switched the radio on. Interesting some of the commentary about "old school" coaching methods / tactics not fit for modern game and player development. Maybe his departure was a blessing in disguise for our long term football development? Anyway I'm not visiting this thread again natural justice has prevailed.
  21. Top six and three wins over county.
  22. RiG and PerfICT nailed it for me. Semi-final rerun goosebumps. Unforgettable, injustice, drama, grit. Thank you Nick Ross. Although Drapes nonchalant penalty was a close second.
  23. Marius Niculae ? aye fair point forgot about him may have been the court case that put him off my radar
