  1. It's been said 100 times before but perhaps not so graphically. Good post! Well, cheers. The intent wasn't to upset the lady in question (Mrs. 4ize thinks I was a bit blunt) - as Pompey points out, she's every right to sit on her hands and keep stum, or to tell me if she doesn't like what I do - or even to single her out, because she's far from being alone, but to illustrate this gulf of expectation there seems to be between older and younger (ahem, ish) fans. There's a contingent which I'm afraid is killing the game not just for me but for kids as well. There are a good few youngsters dotted around me - like the silent young man in front - who are getting the message that at this social occasion, which used to be everyone's way of letting off steam with a tirade at the ref or a singalong with your pals, you have to sit in silence. Polite applause is the limit. Really mild swearing - of the kind you get in a Harry Potter book - is off limits. The same people who mump and moan about kids with ASBOs and kids with no respect are glaring and stewarding them away from a place where it used to be ok to be as loud as you liked. I used to try to persuade my boy to ditch the PlayStation and come to games with me: now I'd hate to take him to a place where he might get scowled at for providing vocal support. Until these folk either waken up to the times or move on, we're in for more of the same for a long time yet.
  2. Well, Malpas because it was obviously something which worked well when they were together at Motherwell, so you can't really complain about that (yet) - for the others, I don't know, maybe because the shine is still on the new man whereas most folk were disillusioned with Brew. You know as well as I do that Butcher can sign his Auntie Ethel and as long as she scores a few goals people will be happy.
  3. If the Record interview was right, this is him at last-chance saloon before getting a 'straight' job to put food on the table; there may be a bit more motivation for him to perform now that he's seen the alternative. Newcastle United we're not, but we're all he's got just now. Besides, if he brings the talent to the party, I reckon the dugout can find him the enthusiasm.

You're right :thumb04: The wheels have already fallen off, so the engine might as well go too
  5. Aye, congratulations. I hope he's born with a grand set of lungs which he wisely saves until he's old enough to go to the game
  6. I thought you thought the board were an apology?

Fair enough, but which players, Ralph?

what would you rather have ?50k for black now,or he stays keeps us up and saves us ?millions I think you've completely misunderstood my post Marty. I hope that Terry Butcher can get Bennett to organise players' contracts better so that we're never, or hardly ever, in the position of losing real talent without proper recompense - in other words, don't let your best players' contracts expire in the middle of a bargain hunt, something which seemed to elude Crag Brewster, unless the board are really that willing to laugh off a manager's requests. 4ize, as most people know the contracts had nothing to do with Brewster, its been up to the DoF to sort that out Absolutely, but it's up to the gaffer to nip at the DoF and tell him which players he MUST have signed or they'll be off. If that's ignored then the manager's position starts to become untenable because his employers aren't giving him the resources he needs to do his job. Do you really reckon that Brew was telling that to Grassa, being knocked back and still stayed best pals with him? Jackanory...

And best!! All hail Mihadjuks what a great player hope he stays for a very long time. Yep, more impressive with each game so far - for goodness' sake get a contract extension sorted out NOW. I just hope that TB will be able wind GB up and point him in the right direction when it comes to contract negotiations because CB's attitude to it has lost us Cowie for a supposedly nominal fee and Black for nowt.
  13. While we're on the subject, does anyone know where the 'We Want More' man went? Is he ok, still alive, supporting Elgin or pushing up daisies? I'd planned to join him but he's not been seen all season. Was that the brilliant old man who had a section all to himself and used to sing songs all on his own? What a lagend that man was/is... Yep, that's the man. Anyone know where he went, if he's alright?

Disagree, yes not saying to offer long term contracts to all the new signings, but you also have to calculate who is likely to bring us income in the coming years through transfer fees regardless what division we are in, something we have been to slow to realise with the likes of Black, Cowie. Not sure what wage Pavel is on but we have a sqaud of 27 to 28, worth getting rid of a few that are not up to it to keep a player that seems to have it. Lets face it after 6 or so games last season we knew then that Cowie was an asset and should have said then lets give him a long term contract. After 3-4 games most of us seem to be the same opinion of Pavel so lets get him tied up as if not somebody else will. I agree with that. Don, if we sign the guy on a longer contract, even if we go down we can sell him. Surely this is about keeping the better players and getting some money for them when they go on to better things?
  16. To give you an idea of what we have to endure in the Main Stand: From my seat I can see at least twelve people who look like they've never shouted in their lives. I can see another dozen who look like they'd give Chisholms some business if they shouted. Another two sixes look like they'd like to shout but are feart of the first twelve. The elderly lady in front of me (yes madam, I am the horrible person in row N, seat 6) once told me off for saying 'bloody' three times in quick succession of a Saturday afternoon, presumably to protect her grandson's delicate sensibilities. He looks about 15, by the way, and probably thought I was a Church of Scotland Minister because I didn't swear properly. Today she and (perhaps) her daughter had a wee exchange basically complaining that the person behind was rather loud, much rubbing of delicate wee ears and shaking of heads. This is why the Main Stand is how it is. Until this Silent Generation goes to its grave, and its loveless gaze with it, the atmosphere will always be horrendous. They should have a decibel level that you have to meet when you buy a season ticket. Or at least a warning sticker to alert you to the fact that you're going to a bloody ******* ****** ******** football match and not a tea party. Oh well...
  17. Ok you dont like Blackie point made, anything positive to say about taking a point from the SPL Champions Aberdeen showed how good the SPL champions are if you have a go at them , we did well to get a point but I honestly think they were there for the taking today , half of them were blowing out their erse after 30 mins due to the 2 hours of football they played on a ploughed field in midweek . I dont dislike Black but I do not like to see assaults like the one that eventually got him booked , IMHO Black could / should have been sent off today and cost us a point . Please go and p!ss on someone else's bonfire, just for a bit, and let everyone else bask for a while. Please? :thumb04:
  18. You look like Norman Watts (Curly) :thumb04: Cheeky :018: Possibly the best bit was walking back to the A9 amid a sea of green and white - could have heard a pin drop, bar the odd muttered 'Samaras is ***** like' ;)
  19. I've not come back from a game properly hoarse for ages, but I sound like Tom Waits at the moment. Great atmosphere, best home performance since we overhauled the 'Tic for a 3-2 win, especially considering the changes to the side. They've got me convinced. I'm in the pro-Lionel camp, but apart from that I'll go with pretty much everything that's been said. Does anyone have Charlie Richmond's address? I'd like to send him a new watch, cos he clearly needs one. Possibly attached to some C4
  20. Chip's got good backing with his dad and his agent, and has always been looking at stepping-stones, I think - glad he's got a good move; Watford though, culture shock after the Strath! Mike was incredibly patient while MB hogged the limelight and played reasonably well but once Ryan staked his claim between the sticks that was inevitably the last straw. Blackie - Edinburgh lad, a move back might always be on the cards (hope it's not a house of cards and that he gets paid now and then). I don't think any of the three moves could have been stopped - delayed for six months might have been the best that could be done. What Mr. Butcher might achieve is to prevent any more exits.
  21. It'll also be interesting to see if Rooney now gets more than a token run-out at ten minutes left and two goals down. We may already have a good striker - he's top scorer at least.
  22. I'll go to ?65. Could probably sell one of the kids in this climate.
  23. Think Rankin did it for his first goal - free kick against D.U?
  24. You're in Fukuoka now? Happy days in Umebayashi, many years ago - still following their J-League progress, such as it is, but it provides a lift occasionally when my other teams fail, as my main one seems to do so spectacularly often these days. Still, someone may be able to turn it around - I haven't a clue who the board's shortlist will be but, for all I'd like to see Robbo back, I just think there may be too many burnt bridges there. Hope not. Ardiles? Nut. Wouldn't be amazed to see Bazza in the frame somewhere, but I reckon they'll surprise us. Again.
  25. Sorry to be a lazy fekker and not research this, but Scotty's online and can no doubt clear it up in a minute - how is the board appointed and what's the likelihood (as if I didn't know) of change being forced by anyone other than the Capo di Tulloch? I appointed them. You got a problem, like? Brought to you courtesy of Matthew Gloag & Son Only finding out where you live and organising a mob, like I like the team as it is If you can't organise a mob, what are you doing here? I can organise a mob, they just don't like where you live.
