Just been on Corals site {yea, the Bookie who said "no limit" on me bets, expecting I'd be losing of course}, anyway, I wanted a few quid on a team this afternoon that they were offering 4/6 on, and knowing that if I tried to get the money on in one go they'd knock me back I started putting on 100 quids at a time, and managed to do that until I'd a grand on...

The next bet was met with an offer of 8/13, so I though "sod it" I'll keep going, so I put 130 quid on to win 80, managed to get that on 3 times before Corals pulled up the draw bridge offering me the next bet of 8/15 to 60 quid FFS !!! :008:

So much for all that shyte they talk on TV {McCrirrick and co} about how much money yet can get on with the Boookies, Corals just dropped the odds from 4/6 to 8/15 with less than 1,400 quid on !!! their liability is less than a grand, and they loose their nerve, you'd think I was the goalie for the other team

Good / typical article there CB, punters dream of breaking the Bookies Bank, but in reality they have so many ways of closing you down. I note they came out with the same shyte that Corals said to me, you can bet {a Million in that blokes case} same sort of comment to me, "No Limit" aye, up to 5 bob maybe...

The comments attached to the write up are spot on too, particularly about the gaming machines in the Bookies, like one bloke said they ARE the crack cocaine for the mugs that spend all the time {and money} they can in the Bookies.

Some of them machines are taking in 600 quid a day {in shops around Wigin}, and that's per machine, I was gobsmacked when one of the managers for Done's told me that...

The "secret" {if there is one} is, the less often your bet, the more often you win, and the reverse certainly holds true...

I've given up on 'slot machines' since I got shafted at the casino once.

Here's the story...

Wednesday night was my casino night with my mates. finish work, head to the local for a few and hit the casino about 9pm - around the time the free buffet was starting

We'd all sit the the bar area which overlooked the various tables - blackjack, roulette, 3-card, texas etc etc - as well as the various slots.

In the bar there were 2 'normal' bandits. Both ?250 jackpot. One called Italian Job, and one called Dracula.

Playing Dracula one night, was a little old lady. I'd seen a few people play it to no avail the night before, and thought about a flutter, but the lady got there before me as i was getting served at the bar. She'd a tub of ?1 coins and ultimately started plugging them in.

Anyone that plays bandits regular will know that when the tubes are full, you'll hear your money drop 'down the back' - well, this happened with her very first coin.

After 2 hours of playing and only little payouts (which were fed back in i might add) she'd ran out of cash and gone. I thought 'that jackpots about to pay now, surely'...

?50 in, nothing, ?100 in, nothing, ?150 in, nothing. By the time i'd got to this stage i'd started the forbidden task of chasing what i'd already lost. After ?230 odd quid it was a case of 'get my money back' but the highest payot offered on feature was just ?30 or so. So i kpet going.

After ?270 quid the casino was closing and I was ultimately shown the door. Crapping myself that i'd blown so much, I intended to head up to the casino as soon as it opened. I only had ?60 left in the bank!

Yep, you guessed it, it swallowed the whole lot and was still 'dropping down the back'... I immediately got on the phone to some pals to get there arse in and win the loot - after all, i'd rather a mate won it than some random who'd just popped in some loose change! Anyway, my mate garry headed up, ?80 later, still nothing! Mark went up, ?70, nothing. The machine ended up paying out just ?150 in the evening to a friend of my mates dad (brian)...

That'd be about ?310 from me, ?100 ish from the old lady, ?150 from my mates and whatever brian stuck in and still no jackpot!!! It certainly showed me why they call them bandits...

(all was not lost though, as I went the casino one night with just ?50, spent ?20 on drink and came out with ?1,006... God bless roulette!!!)

A sorry tale indeed, and based on the falicy that machines these days are "mechanical" likew the old Tic Tac Toe machines of the 50's and 60's. When their draw {a little bucket} was full and money started to fall into an overflow box the machine knew by weight to drop the jackpot, so 50-60 years ago the strategy you mention might have helped, but not now...

The machines run the same way that computers do, they have a {sort of} randomness, but it's based on a pay out of {usually} 85% {but that get's fiddled with too, and can be pushed down to 30%}, here's how it works, explained to me by a mate of mine that seviced hundreds of machines {for Ken Cowap, a Wigin Bookie} for over 20 years...

Sometimes you'll see on a machine "Guaranteed 85% Pay out" and folks get excited, thinking it pays out 85% of the time {FFS}...

What it REALLY means is...

If you start out with 100 quid, and over the series of spins you put all of the 100 quid in, it will GUARANTEE to take 15% OFF YOU !!!

This will leave you with 85 quid, so your start the game all over again, putting the 85 quid back in, from which {on average} the BANDIT will take it's NEXT 15% off you, you'll then be down to just ore 70 quid, then you'll put that money back in {getting the odd little win, to keep you drugged up} and the machine will GUARANTEE to take ANOTHER 15% off you, on and on it goes until you have feck all left except a weary walk home, while my mate Albert can hardly lift up the bucket inside full of Pound coins, yea, really, mind you when Albert was doing it they were arf crowns etc, then pound coins, but now his successors life is easier, as a bucket full of 20 quid notes don't weigh too heavy.

STAY AWAY from ANY gaming machine, they have been designed to take money from you, EVEN IF you win 250 quid now and again, you'll put it back, you'll buy nowt with it, it'll ALWAYS finish up paying for someone to live better than you do, stay well away from them, they ARE {like the bloke said} the Crack Cocaine of gambling, once you are hooked YOU'LL NEVER GET OFF THE HABIT, see if I'm right the next time you're within 100ft of one of them !

The reverse of that would be if you decline the payout. technically, if you dont take the payout, then the machine hasnt paid out at all :angry:

Roulette is my game. Love it. Two ways I've played are 1) half the wheel (opposite zero, 14 to 27, and an extra chip on 17).or 2) 5 and 34 neighbours. This covers about 1/4 of the wheel.

One guy I used to watch play regularly used to devide the wheel into 6th, pick one of them and play that all night. Sometimes he'd walk with thousands, sometimes lose thousands, but that was his way and it seemed to work the majority of the time. I dont trust online casinos though, although I do dabble at bingo and poker from time to time.
