This 16-team idea was shot down with an atomic bomb by the SPL not a year ago. Suddenly, it's now a good idea...

Just shows how competent and thorough the bigwigs Doncaster and Topping are. Disgusting to throw this out after pushing for a 10-team league and mocking the populist views.

But surely the next step in this saga is that the SPL will announce the immediate creation of an SPL2 into which they will invite Newco and Div 1 clubs?

As I mentioned in the Rangers in admin thread, I was at Hampden for a few hours this morning, and chatter amongst high profile journalists early this morning before the vote took place was the SPL2 will be a 'dead cert'. We await for the next move....

I'm sure the SPL have been working away on this option for the last week or two but still, there isn't much time to get it all in place if they want the SPL2 season to start at the same time as Div 1 was due to be starting.

Correct decision , now lets get down to organising the proposals that were made , never mind an SPL 2 that would invite the newco where is the sporting integrity in that , But can we expect anything Else from Doncaster!!!!! That would be us back to Celtic and Rangers with the biggest share of the cake , time for a fairer distribution of the cash

If Doncaster, Regan and Co have any sence at all they will leave things as are and work towards proper league reconstruction over the next couple of years. If they cant see that as being the correct way then its time for them to go. Only six out of 42 clubs in Scotland have voted with Rangers or abstained from voting. 36 club chairmen are in agreement on how things should by. Thats one hell of a vote of no confidence in those running our game.

First and next step should be removal from office of all those Rangers biased officials who are claiming to be the saviours of Scotish football.

Extraordinary, emergency meetings should be called now and a complete overhaul of all bodies pertaining to Scotttish football should sit down and thrash out an entirely new concept that will restore SF to a credible entity.

There could not be a better time to start.

Wonder how long it will take for Regan and Doncaster to roll out their SPL2 idea.....despite the crucial decision being made today, this debacle is far from over

Rangers statement already released stating the face "an Uncertain Future", and that they expect SPL/SFA to follow through with promises to set up SPL 2 involving Rangers and inviting current SFL1 teams to join. If this happens that would be a discrace. Sevco need to accept that this is not a punishment. They are a new company with no history, and have not actually fulfilled any of the criteria in being accepted into the league at all, but are being givenspecial treatment so the can join the league. Regan and Doncaster OUT!

David Longmuir in his statement seemed to suggest that div 1 clubs would not buy SPL 2 . We shall see. However if the sfa propose SPL 2 it will be civil war with the fans and lower league clubs IMO.

Jesus will those folk ever wake up. Scottish football is crying out for a united body, not further division. To change things to the way they should be will take two or three seasons. By that time The Rangers may be in a position to join the top league but without the control they and Celtic have had over every other team.

Alex Thomson has just tweeted:

Tonight the fight intensifies: Scottish FA pledged to over-rule fanpower and their own clubs.

Alex was tweeting away from the steps of Hampden this morning and in this whole situation he has probably been one of the best journalists to cover it - not bad from a war correspondent!

This is not ending any time soon.

Wow!

From Alex Thomson again:

"WARNING. Club chairman "Everyone in that room heard that Stewart Regan informed Charles Green that there's no way "Rangers" will be in D3 . "

"That's what really went on. Ignore any guff about "Rangers" definitely heading for D3. This fight has only just started. "

Yes, Alex Thomson has been spot on. And what coverage is he getting in the BBC or in the papers? Diddly squat!

So Regan has been getting his hands very dirty indeed. He has to be the first to go, secret e-mails, zero transparency, lies, smokescreens, corruption, threats, sensationalism, and all for one club.

Time to....say goodbye...

Completely agree with this.

On Monday they decide on Dundee or Dunfermline

I think it will only be fair to vote for Dunfermline

Why? Dunfermline were absolute pap last season and were deservedly relegated.

Alex Thomsons blog today makes even more interesting reading. Could it be construed that there is corruption within Scottish football I wonder?

Alex Thomson has been pretty spot on, as mentioned above, in pretty much everything he has said so far. Of course, the Daily Record (aka Rangers Fanzine) is not going to pick up on this kind of stuff but reading Thomsons blog has left me feeling a combination of sadness, anger and complete despair at the way football is run here.

It's all geared towards satisfying the Old Firm and it's absolutely tragic.
