CJT cup semi final statement

Great effort by CJT.  Might not have got what we wanted this time but if it prevents the SPFL from treating ICT as 3rd class fans in the future, it has been worth it.

As for Doncaster's offer of help with transport. I asume any expense that they incur will come out of the pooled money from the 2 games. So all 4 clubs will be paying for their and BBC's incompetence.

As Gringo, I think, said on another thread you'd be surprised at how much needs to be done to get trains to run. They can't just stick an extra train on at a certain time as they need to gain track access rights and a whole other load of permissions.

I really didn't expect CJT to get the location or time changed. They did fantastically well to get an audience.

What a difference a few years make, a supporters group that really works for the fans interests and a club/chairman that listens and liaises with the fans, well done to all.

It's a pretty poor decision in my opinion but at least we can take pride that we're the first club that the SPFL have actually listened to.

Did they actually listen, or was it just a 'pat on the head' exercise? knowing fine that they were not going to alter anything about the fixture!

You know me. I don't do pat on the head without at least attempting to bite you, and it didn't feel that way to me.

Just sounds like even more of a snake when asked about the Rangers - Raith Scenario, which i didnt even realise until i saw his interview. What an absolute arse of a man. Good effort by CJT, made a statement by not taking it on the cheek.

I agree, however, what else is Doncaster offering to do? Provide a police escort? If he comes back with hee-haw then that will be symbolic of what the SPFL is.

I fear, RiG, that you will be proven right. He will use words such as "unfortunate" "best efforts" and "unable" and even perhaps "the best will in the world" after he makes a token enquiry.

The positives remain that ICT, via CJT, didn't roll over, and he has had to answer for the debacle. One day, with his job. He has very little ice left.

Common sense isn't part of the SPFL's remit. Sounds like all they did was listen to what CJT had to say but with no intention of giving way.

If there is heavy snow that weekend blocking the A9 and fans can't get down will the game be postponed? I doubt it. I also doubt that the SPFL will pay for the cost of chartering special trains either.

I was against going to Easter Road in the first place regardeless of the date or time. The fact that it's live on BBC has made my mind up where I'll be watching it. I'll save my cash for the final. Looks like we'll be lucky to sell 2000 tickets.

So it would have been a 12.15 kick-off, on a Sunday if the BBC were not involved?

People on here are surprised that we got an audience from the great Doncaster!

Sorry but I wont wear that, we had every right to appeal to the league, they gave us no real consideration whatsoever when arranging the tie.

Come on SPFL and Mr. Doncaster, we are now one of the top teams in this league and you are doing nothing to encourage a crowd coming down from the Highlands. In fact you have deterred the possibility of a crowd coming down, you have also given Hearts an unfair advantage with a near home location.

Well there is something you could still do as a compromise and that is cancel the match and reschedule it, you would do this for many other reasons such as pitch conditions, lights failure, crowd trouble and so on. Possibly even if the media suggested it, so don't give us your excuses just give us the appropriate action.

Is the man so jumped up in himself that we should be glad he granted us an audience, are we so unimportant to him that he should condescend to do so and expect us to accept his patronising excuses?? I for one think it is absolutely shameful.

Well done to CJT, you did the right thing in showing him the error of his ways but  I hope you still have another card to play when he gets back to you because I do not believe the man will make anything more than a token approach to travel companies.

Disgusted!

'Football Special' trains used to be run on a regular basis. I remember one running from Inverness to Ayr in the seventies when Thistle were drawn away there in the Scottish Cup. As I recall, it was fully subscribed with about 350 enthusiastic Jaggies.

Whenever Aberdeen reached cup finals or semis in those days often two or three football specials would run from Aberdeen direct to Mount Florida.

That was when the rail system was joined up and operated by British Rail. I am supposing that the dislocation of the system following privatisation makes such arrangements difficult if not impossible now.

Think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head there Kingsmill.  Privatisation means everything is now controlled 100% by profit...or whether or not they can screw money out of the public purse to (more than) offset possible losses.

The politics here are quite intense. I am sure the SPFL did not want to lose TV money and for Hearts wanted to maximise their income streams. The SPFL is probably more worried that Hearts actually survive first. According to their Administrator, that is far from certain and technically they could go to the wall before the Semi.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25156354

"I've got to convince them that the shares essentially have no value in terms of the club being in administration with a massive amount of debt," explained Jackson.

"But, of course, we require them for technical purposes; the purposes of the CVA, but they'll have to be convinced that that's correct and they'll have to satisfy their own creditors.

"In some respects it's a big obstacle and it's a difficult one to predict because we're dealing with different legislation, a different country and different administrator, who has their own duties, their own obligations to their creditors and their court.''

If Doncaster got the trains to go on a Sunday then fair play, I'd give him his dues. Thing is, needs to be soon, else the cost rockets.

However, if he comes back, with the names of private bus companies for hire, then I do think he should be held accountable for the farce, and CJT should, as said before, be ready to respond, as goodwill is not something to be used as to fob people off, if that turns out to be the case.

If Lord Doncaster has to have his two ties played at the times already announced in the 1st and 2nd of February, which is purely for TV money.  The simplest solution is to swap the two ties around.  Aberdeen and St Johnstone have adequate transport links to Edinburgh for a midday kick off that should not be affected by the weather.  A 1500 kick off on a Saturday allows fans to get from and to Inverness in all but the worst of winter weather.

Neil Doncaster should be made to attempt to drive up and down the A9 in the kind of weather that is to be expected in February.

To be honest, I'd rather wait and see what they come up with. As I said before, I don't want to pre-empt any offer on the basis of speculation so I'll let others get on with that until next thursday. Then we can make a decision about where we go from there.

He should be made to cycle up the A9 naked with a gorse saddle.

We should all agree that everyone who attends the game to keep every receipt for petrol/food/accom/train/bus etc and make up an invoice and send it to Doncaster.
