Watkins really seems to have divided opinion following yesterday. His workrate his 2nd to none and he did a lot of effective work tracking back but he possesses almost no skill and im yet to see him convincingly beat a man on the wing.

Honestly thinking that you are on the wind-up now!

He's obviously doing the business if we have been praised for 'fast attacking football on the break' for the past 4 games - you can't just do this down one side!

Agree though that we need to use his pace to get behind the defence more.  Tremarco said in his interview that the defensive work of the midfield made the job of the back 4 much easier.

Totally disagree that Watkins has no skill. He is willing to take the ball in tight situations from throws, especially in the first half and worked some good positions. Needs to get his final ball away earlier however as lost the chance to cross on a few occasions. Don't forget however that he is still getting used to this level of football and sometimes it takes a few games to adjust and get it right.

As Rod Stewart said to me the other day...........

They can't stop us now
The world is waiting
It's our turn to stand out from the crowd

They can't stop us now

The tide is turning

They're gonna make us proud

The modern idea is to have right or left sided midfielders who work in support and defence.  ( known as box to box midfielders )

That's not what box-to-box midfielders are.

The term box-to-box midfielder refers to players who possess good mobility and are skilled at both defending and attacking. Such footballers are therefore useful in both their own and their opponents penalty boxes.

Or so Wiki believes.

My understanding is that box-to-box midfielders are central midfield players with the qualities you've just mentioned.  Ross Draper would be a good example.  Wingers and wide midfielders are not box-to-box midfielders though I don't believe (and not according to Football Manager!)
