Now Chas. Work it out --in North America, when he visited, they called him 4.55 litres.

Canada maybe, but I'm not so sure about the Yanks who have stuck slavishly to antiquated (ironically "Imperial") units like pounds, inches, yards etc. However some of these are of their own specification, including the gallon since an American gallon is almost 17% less than a UK one. This must also be a rare example of the Yanks having something which is actually SMALLER in scale than our version:lol:

That looks like the Caley Ballroom......? Would that be right perchance?

No, it's the corner of Ness Bank and Bridge Street - with the Palace Hotel and the Cathedral on the other side of the river. The windows to the top left of the photo are of what is now again called the Shapla but in the early years it was called ???The Hebridean. And even I can identify the nearest cars as a Mini a Beetle and ?a Triumph Herald Police car.

You are getting good at the cars Charles, the one behind the Police car is a Volvo 122 and I think the white one is an Austin Cambridge.  The Tryst was re-named the Hebridean and was frequented by the "Teuchters" after the Carlton in Ingles Street closed, I wonder where they go now

Anywhere they can get a drink I would imagine:lol: During the Mod the Leejun was packed with them. Or maybe they go to "Glasss-co" for the "Parrrk Baaarrrr".

Superb LP but where was the Gathering ?

Gathering.jpg

Second from the right is keyboard specialist Tom Anderson and seated on the trap beside the guy with the accordion is Tom's fellow Tenerife Trio member, drummer Ted Walker. By a strange coincidence, I was approached in the Social Club just last Saturday after the game by a guy who told me he was Ted Walker's son and reminded me of how my mate and I used to wind his dad up by continually banging on the metal doors of the St Ninian Drive garages.

Tom Anderson was head of music at Millburn and the third member of the Tenerife trio was Les? Munro. I've forgotten what Les? looked like now - possibly because our beverage of choice in the Tenerife in the early 70s was Carlsberg Special. But might he be the other accordionist at the front?
