Superb display. Our players looked comfortable and confident with the Hughes style, lot of good passing and possession. Watkins was absolutely outstanding and easily the crowd's choice for MotM. His trickery and creative opening up of the right flank was wonderful to watch, and created the goal. We could have finished two or three up, very heartening to see that we didn't try and sit on the lead, but kept taking the game to them.  On this evidence we have every reason to look forward to a good season. I can't see any reason why we should fear any team in the league - rather the reverse.

Yogi's critics  :redcard:  Brills critics  :redcard:   ICT :notworthy:  :notworthy:  :notworthy:  :notworthy:  :notworthy:  :notworthy:  :notworthy:  :notworthy:  :notworthy:  :notworthy: :notworthy:   :ictscarf:

Happy clappers that said naysayers wanted ICT to fail as it was 'personal' against Yogi :redcard:

A great result like this and the usual suspect tried to make it 'them' and 'us'.  Everyone wants ICT to win!  Everyone wants Yogi to succeed!  As many did with Butcher, all naysayers want to hold their hands up and say their wrong.

Amazing this still needs said....

Absolutely right.  This is the poster of course who constantly attacks other posters no-matter what.  Sad that somebody just can't enjoy the win but has to make it all about them as well.  Negative and tiresome in the extreme.  Think we'll find as well that almost all the prominent "Yogi Naysayers" were at the game today, while this superfan was not.

Really enjoyed that today and not just because we defeated Celtic more the manner of our performance - best home performance under Yogi IMO. The passing today was a joy to watch purely due to the fact is was quick and effective. I really liked at times when we caught Celtic's defence out and Watkins and Mckay got the fast break. Marley Watkins was my MOTM today - superb!

Play with that intensity next Saturday vs Killie and hopefully the result will take care of itself.

Interesting to note, I noticed Steve Marsella sitting with the fans in the Main stand today - Scouting?

Allegedly he's on sick leave at Hibs.

Cant get over how in control we were of that game, even if it was Celtic's B team (awaiting that as their excuse).

We moved the ball about so well and used our width to full effect. Draper and Tansey bossed midfield yet again and despite one or two moments are back four looked very solid and Deano stood firm when called upon. Celtic never really got into a stride, they looked dangerous after half time, MacGregor made some nice runs for them but they seemed to run out of ideas fast and we were looking more confident with every surge forward.

We forced them into that OG, was a brilliant ball in from Watkins and it caused all kind of confusion in the box, Marley looked industrious all afternoon and if he couldnt score then making the OG makes up for it.

The work rate was top notch, everyone put in a shift from front to back and we dug deep towards the end to shut Celtic out, nerve wracking end to the game but so worth it.

The title is ours to throw away...

REMINDER - THE SEASON IS ONLY FOUR GAMES OLD - AND MANY WOULD SAY THAT WE HAVE PLAYED TWO PROMOTED TEAMS AT THE BEST POSSIBLE TIME, PLAYED A STRUGGLING WELL AND A WEAKENED AND OTHERWISE FOCUSSED CELTIC.

WTF - Let's feckin gloat and enjoy - especially the Seethe.

Anyway, I'm sure as everyone who could be bothered going today will know, that was a wonderful performance.  The defence and attacking play were both excellent and it is testament to the work being done on the training field.  Draper and Brill amongst others were excellent, as was Marley Watkins who I think is our best winger since Barry Robson.  Carry on like this, and we could well get into Europe.

I'd be sick if I was at Hibs!

Sounds like Celtic had some experienced players out there so no excuse really. At least that's what it seems from afar.

What a start to the season for ICT. Go for it John. Vindication is looming  and the Naysayers are trying to decide which parts of the humble pie they will have to eat?

The whole lot!!

A fantasic result. We have been in the same situation before and got humped 0-4 by their 2nd team.

The players were imense and the discipline and team positioning 1st class.

I take this as a huge compliment, Celtic fc were actually copying us for ideas throughout the match. It didn't do them mutch good though as our player nicked the ball back off them time and time again.

Motherwell continued! Just rgeat to watch. Deano saw a lot of the ball today and was very solid. Draper is immense ( can you see him from space?) . Zinedene Watkins.............take a bow...........great skills and endeavour

Also good to be back with the Innes gang.

I'm loving this

Best home game for a long time, superb performance keeping the celts at bay and preventing them from scoring, a well deserved 3 points, already looking forward to next week more of the same I hope.

Smashing result for us today. Celtic reserves or not I don't care. We've played their supposed B sides before and been well and truly smashed and I was expecting more of the same today truth be told. These games are freebies really and you don't expect to get much from them but in the end I thought we were well worth the three points today. Our defence coped well with Celtic's attacks and when they did get through Brill was able to keep them at bay with some smart saves from Ambrose, Griffiths and also the help of the bar. Our midfield two of Tansey and Draper dominated midfield the latter spending most of the game bench pressing the Celtic players into submission. Williams again had a very good game on the left, Christie was a bit quiet compared to recent weeks but Watkins turned in a stunning display and Mckay worked his damnedest but ultimately got no personal reward however his pressure inadvertently let to the goal.

I didn't think we played as we did against Motherwell last week for the entire 90 minutes today but that was probably going to be a tall order. To begin with we continued to pass, move and receive well continuing the good work from Fir Park. As the first half wore on Celtic came into things a lot more and we seemed to pass and, erm, stand still. Players weren't offering themselves for the ball as they had been doing and this seemed to coincide with the momentum of the game switching. Watkins, who had been tormenting the Celtic left flank was suddenly redundant on the right side of the pitch and couldn't get involved for a time. Ambrose coolly placed a side footed lob towards goal but Brill was alert to tip it over. Celtic then had a fantastic flowing exchange of passes that carved our defence apart and let Commons or Pukki (I think) in but fortunately they couldn't find the back of the net. Briton had that wicked shot crash off the bar after he easily spun away from his marker. It was a cracking effort but just before this we looked like we had a clear penalty turned down by Madden.

We started the second half well and started to press Celtic a lot more than the latter parts of the first half. Whilst we still played some of the Hughes style short passing game we also weren't afraid to go direct when we got a chance which was pleasing. However Celtic probably had the first good chance of the half when ICT conceded possession in the Celtic half and the ball was worked to Griffiths who thumped a low drive at Brill who held on to it well. Whilst it was a routine save I was concerned it might slip through his grasp.

When we took the lead it was no surprise it came down the right as Watkins had started to influence the game again down that side. His direct run led to a dangerous ball being fired across goal. Mckay and Zaluska both went for it and, I'm not quite sure what happened, but it looked liked it bounced off them both and then into the net off O'Connell who was racing back to help out.

After that we started to sit much deeper and conceded possession to Celtic whilst we were content to hit on the break. Celtic struggled to break us down and we should have increased our lead after some shambolic defending from Celtic allowed the ball to drop at the feet of Christie but his placed effort curled wide of the goal. Whilst the rest of the game was largely Celtic probing trying to find a way through we had the best chance of the final few moments when Williams led a counter and crossed to find Nick Ross but, having waited for Zaluska to go down, his shot to the keepers left was at a nice height for Zaluska to desperately stick up his hand to palm it wide.

A fantastic result but I do hope we are more clinical in the weeks ahead and that we also get some chances for Mckay to convert. He seems to ploughing a lone furrow right now and our attack could be doing a bit more for him i feel. The defence however looks rock solid and Raven, a player who I wouldn't mind us trying to replace if we can get someone better in, showed some fantastic touches today. Not as good as my MotM Watkins though who royally roasted a Celtic player on the touchline with a Cruyff turn.

Looking forward to the visit of Killie next week.
