HST692 is a Wolseley 4/44 on Union St and the Sports car on Church St is a MGT, not sure of the others.

From the left Austin A55 Cambridge, Ford Popular, Vauxhall Cresta, Austin A55, Sunbeam Talbot, the black one is a Wolseley (I think) and Hillman Huskey van.

You are right, your father must have had one

Nearly!  I had one.  It was my first car bought round about Xmas time 1963.  It was a 1951 edition for which I paid the princely sum of £47.  It had the number plate EST 51, probably worth something these days.  I had it the best part of a year before the steering box literally fell out! I sold it for £9 to two McAskill lads (twins) from the Clachnaharry area, who dabbled in second hand cars.  Happy days.
