Site Updates

I mentioned before Christmas that we are in the process of planning for and testing the next version of the site which we hope will go live sometime before the 2015/16 season (subject to a stable release of the software).  As part of that process we asked for beta-testers a few months ago and I am now looking for a few additional folk to verify and update some of the other data in our pages/info sections which has been pointed out to me is pretty out of date.

If you are able/willing to take a few minutes to help, please let me know. Basically all we are looking for this time is for someone to check the data on the following pages and point out the errors or update the new info. Some of it will likely come from the club, but I figure that some of it may also be verifiable by our users ......

http://caleythistleonline.com/page/CTO%20Internal/Club%20Info/general-info : I believe this page is pretty much correct as CaleyD keeps it up to date.

http://caleythistleonline.com/page/CTO%20Internal/Club%20Info/travel-info : The directions have not changed but some phone numbers may have done so ... happy to receive suggestions on this or generally updated info.

http://caleythistleonline.com/page/index.html/_/history/ : As mentioned on another thread about Ian Broadfoots stats, this is one of the pages he supplied his summaries for. The last season review' was for 2010-11. Perhaps some of our budding writers or media types can help with 2011-12 onwards ?

http://caleythistleonline.com/page/CTO%20Internal/Club%20Info/ticket-info : Need to verify prices and info is correct ?

http://caleythistleonline.com/page/CTO%20Internal/Club%20Info/pubs-grub-accomodation : Happy to include a few watering holes here provided they are regular supporters/sponsors of the club in some way. same applies for the other stuff.

http://caleythistleonline.com/page/CTO%20Internal/Club%20Info/stats-facts : This seems a job for Sneckboy  I believe the 'records' on here may have been surpassed given that much of the info came from Ian Broadfoot who has been retired for a few seasons .... I simply have not checked this in a while.

Other areas where we may be looking for help prior to next season is with our stats program. One of our users has kindly agreed to look at the underlying structure and sql queries and CaleyD keeps the current squad information and photos up to date as this is required for the club ...... but some of the ex-player profiles could perhaps do with some updating. Same applies to a few instances of missing game data where we are basically looking to get those matches entered. We have the data and info, but its time consuming and boring so not much fun !!!

A few 'outdated' records that I've noticed Scotty. I've not looked at it 'in depth' yet - but, i'll happily post any 'updates/corrections' that I discover,  using this thread.

Record home SPL defeat 1-5 v Motherwell  18/11/12

Record away SPL defeat 6-0 v Celtic  27/04/14

Highest Cup defeat HOME 0-5 v Dundee United 09/03/14

Most league goals against - 6 – from the Celtic game from above (equals the Airdrie game already in place)

Record transfer fee receive – the reputed 150k for Billy ‘beats’ the Rankin fee as second-highest.

cheers Sneckboy .... think the 'records' are good up to 2010-11 which is the last time Ian produced a set of official stats for the season and in all honesty when not getting sent these it tends to slip the mind to go in and check everything !!!

Didn't we get about £250,000 from Dinamo Bucharest for Niculae?

That's correct - but I was just 'correcting' the 'second highest fee received' entry! The £400k on the site for Niculae is maybe a bit on the high side!

Talking of stats and records, I noticed that according to Soccerbase, our Ryan Christie's first competitive game was a Scottish Cup tie for Fraserburgh in 2006 - when he was just 11.

It's a bit like Gary Warren being listed as playing a few games for Arbroath in 2005! Apparently it was a Garry Warren, signed from a Dundee Junior team - but those stats are on our Gary's record!

I know this is not to do with CTO but I've noticed that the actual club website is a little outdated on the squad list.

Billy Mckay and Ibra Sekajja still feature, even though Ofere has been included. Also missing Kink. I know the signings have been fairly recent so that's understandable.

Is it not folk from here than run it? Scotty and such. Just thought I'de point it out.

I imagine Billy and Sekajja's names are left there so that their 'stats' are still listed for the season. For example, in a few years anyone looking back at 2014/15 would see that Mckay scored 10 goals for us that season. I suppose it's more a season statistics list rather than 'current squad'.

Unfortunately the BBC have fallen into the trap of thinking that Billy's goals left with him or simply disappeared. Their leading scorers list has no sign of Billy or Tony Andreu since they transferred clubs - it's as if their goals didn't happen!

There are a few reasons Billy still gets listed ..... its a squad list for the season and although he has moved on he was a big part of the season so far. It is also a stats program that covers multiple seasons so we cant just remove a player mid season as that would skew their historical stats.   Its not one of the main reasons but there is also the matter of player sponsorship where someone has sponsored a player for the year with the promise of their name(s) being displayed in the programme and website so that info remains.

We do keep the stats updated for the club (and also for here) and I normally leave the player stats page up to CaleyD as he makes sure that the club requirements are fulfilled in terms of required content. I have added the transfer comment on the pages.

Ah no worries, I didn't see it as a great problem or such, I guess I just viewed it as a Current Squad which seems to feature on most clubs pages but you make very fair points.

Again more than happy to contribute to cosmetic/data changes and such. (aslong as I fix my laptop)
