Hearts game may be off

Cry me a river.  If they have called off their Development game, then there will be plenty of players from that team that will be available to fill the gaps of players that are out.  Incidentally, they already had a very high injury list for this game, so tactically it would be ideal for the game to be called off - especially with another game on Friday.

Caley Thistle have played many games this season without a full bench and playing youth players so if the game was called off, then it sets a huge precedent.

Not the end of the world IMO, if this happens then maybe reschedule it for Sat 16th at 3pm then we can benefit from perhaps a larger crowd as neither team is in the Scottish Cup and it doesn't matter right now in the League. I do agree it creates a precedent if a game is cancelled due to excess injuries of illness, however this could work in our favour from a financial perspective.

Big match for them on Friday v the dons.

If the weather's good enough we should play.

Would be quite happy to postpone a midweek game to help them with a Euro match but not 2 games before the split. With wet weather forecast across Scotland, the United match may even be postponed.

I certainly think that by allowing games to be called off through illness, there is a lot of scope for individual clubs to use this to gain all sorts of unfair advantages such as letting players rest when they have a run of games close together, managing to alter which games players with suspensions are suspended for and waiting for injured key players who are close to making a return etc. It is up to each club to decide at the start of the season and during the transfer window, how many players they think they need and then they should just have to get on with it like we have done. If a team truly cannot put a team on the pitch then they should forfeit the game.

Surely for the league split to be enacted all the teams must've played the same amount of games (unless there is a game scheduled with both teams already guaranteed to finish in either half).  What if the game is called off and ICT win on Saturday with results going our way meaning that we would've finished in the top six?  Theoretically we could consigned to the bottom six having played less games than everyone else.  It has the potential to be a complete mess.

If they have the necessary medical evidence, which of course they should do, then viral gastroenteritis could well be a definite reason to call off the game. Not only does it spread like wildfire in a setting like a football club but it is also highly contagious and carriers are not recognised.

According to The Scottish Sun Hearts expect their appeal for postponement to be denied

HEARTS will ask the SPFL to call off tomorrow night's game in Inverness after their squad was wiped out by a sickness bug.

SunSport understands the Jambos' have been left with as few as seven recognised first-team players training at Riccarton today.

Concerned Jambos chiefs are in talks with the governing body, but are resigned to making the journey - hopeful that at least a few of the walking wounded will make themselves available.

Robbie Neilson's side could be without 16 players, including suspensions and injuries, for their trip to the Highlands

Hearts have a much larger squad than most in the Premiership and certainly much larger than ours.

All teams take their chances with injury, illness and suspension in the course of the season. At one point we had close to a whole starting XI on the treatment table and had to fulfil our fixtures.

Unless Hearts can produce compelling medical evidence that they don't have eleven players fit enough to play then the game should go ahead.

According to Wiki they have something like 31 players in their first team. Up to 12 are meant to be suffering from this bug so they still have 19 players to pick from plus whatever they have in their development / u20s. Bit of a joke really.

The Daily Record has something that says SPFL (?) rules state that every team must field a 'recognised' keeper (whatever that is). Allegedly without their first choice and recognised backup I suspect that this tipped the scales in favour of calling the game off.

A pile of nonsense ! We haven't got half the squad they have  & been wracked with injuries but just get on with it !

If they can't raise a team then they should forfeit the points !                           Absolute disgrace !

Can we replay the first half of the season then? I don't remember anyone saying much when we've had benches of 4 and 5 players this season.

As harsh as is it on Hearts to have so many out, did we not have 11-12 players out injured at one point. We were forced to get on with it as should they. Plus they have a much much bigger squad than us. Very poor indeed
