Great result today we had less possession and less attempts , but we were clinical 8 attempts 5 on target of which 3 were goals , if only we had done that against Ayr and Alloa we would have been 4pts clear at the top

Looking forward to the reports from those there. Reading the short piece in the Courier website, it sounds like Doran was very influential today, and a great finish by Polworth, whilst Ridgers and Rooney mentioned for preventing goals being lost.

A very encouraging result and hopefully we start to win at home, starting against Partick in a fortnight, then..... roll on Dingwall!

Hopefully we are seeing the Doran we know and love again, and great to see Polly on the scoresheet. Let's get behind him on the 15th!

A simply stunning ICT performance of yesteryear. A return to the reliable 4-2-3-1 setup and philosophy of sitting in, absorbing pressure and hitting Dunfermline hard on the break. Going into the game and seeing the line up I wasn't expecting much at all but needless to say by full time I was eating humble pie and it tasted great.

Pretty standard defensive set up with Chalmers and Welsh shielding in front of them. Doran started on the left, Walsh right and Polworth behind White. For most of the first half we were probably second best although Chalmers (possibly White?) had a good chance with a header from a Walsh cross and the latter linked with Doran to tee up a good chance but his low drive was well saved by Robinson. Dunfermline forced Ridgers into some good saves with the pick of the bunch coming from a fierce drive by Hippolyte.

The second half saw ICT tear Dunfermline apart by allowing them to come on them before clinically hitting them on the counter. The opener however came after a free kick found its way to Walsh on the Pars left flank and he stood up a cross to the back post where Rooney ghosted in to steer a header into the net.

We extended our lead with a quite brilliant counter attack. Dunfermline failed to make one of their many crosses go anywhere useful and Donaldson cleared the ball to Oakley who brought the ball down and quickly fed Doran who galloped down the right wing and picked out Polworth darting into the box with a quite delicious cross which was sidefooted in to make it two.

The game was killed off when Ridgers partially sclaffed a clearance up the pitch in the general direction of Doran. As the ball sat up nicely for him Doran cheekily backheel flicked it over his head and into the path of Oakley who bench pressed the Pars defender and raced towards goal and cooly slide the ball past Robinson.

A deserved three points and a really good defensive performance from ICT coupled with clinical attacking play. Mckay and Donaldson mopped up pretty much everything that came towards them and Rooney, whilst not great in the first half, really grew into the game after his goal. Tremarco was very solid at left back as well. Welsh looked like the gritty midfielder we have been missing and whilst perhaps not as good as a peak Draper he gives us a bit more bite in the centre and allows Doran and Walsh to be more creative and fire in crosses like they did today as well as releasing Polworth to play further forward. White struggled to begin with but like Rooney grew into the match the longer it went on as he dropped deeper to link with the midfield and build counter attacks.

As has been mentioned on here before it may be that this season we are a more successful team away from home than in Inverness where we might be expected to dominate the opposition. Based on today it seems very much like this is a team that would excel sitting in and hitting on the break and we're unlikely to do that much at TCS. Hopefully Robbo keeps the 4-2-3-1 going forward. A 3 - 0 win away from home against a fellow promotion challenger is not to be sniffed at.

That was fun! As RiG says, it was an excellent counter-attacking display after a tetchy first half. Doran's second half performance was particularly pleasing - I've doubted his ability to come back and he's clearly had to change his game but his work-rate was superb today and his class eventually shone through with two wonderful assists. Great to see Polly back in his proper position and the fans did a good job of undoing some of that damage.

We also saw decent games from Donaldson, Tremarco, Walsh and Welsh, and Ridgers made a couple of blinding saves. Our weaknesses, though, remain glaring. Rooney is a huge concern, and while Welsh is an improvement on Trafford, we still aren't strong enough in defensive midfield where Dunfermline found a lot if room to get shots in from the edge of the box in the first half. And we're no closer to finding out who our striker will be - White worked hard and used his body well but Oakley looked far sharper when he came on and took his goal well.

Clinical and direct Caley Thistle' whilst Dunfermline fiddle-faddled.

Our team looks fit and sharp. You can't win if the defence is not solid. And the chances are very much in favour of NOT losing if the defence is great .Ergo--today's win.

Ridgers has always been a good goalkeeper IMHO and I hope he continues to impress. Winning will do that for a player and boost his confidence. Top of the table, huh? Wow, son of a gun, bejabbers!

Pleased that Rooney came on a bit after that dismal last game. Hope he works hard to control his emotions though and doesn't get sent off any time soon. Maybe he was just reacting emotionally to his inner disappointment that he wasn't the best player on the park last week  And it does take time to fit-in and be a real contributor.

White struggled at first, you say ? Well, maybe he just might need to see the up-tempo Caley  team in full flight and he will join in. Barrow in Furness's pace may not be quite up to the pace of the team who won the Scottish Cup in 2015, eh? After all it is a bit of a working man's backwater,  although one of our former supporters on this site  went to that area as a nuclear scientist but what befell him  afterwards I no longer know because I lost touch with him.

The reports sure are very encouraging and if the team spirit continues to rise and the team quickly gels, one with the other , then who knows what the outcome may be at the end of the season?

Great win and phew, about time. :cheer01:

Brilliant win away, that 0-5 from a year ago exorcised...

That 0-5 was one of the lowest points I can remember witnessing; a horrible experience. Confidence shot to pieces and a keeper struggling badly...watched through fingers.

Ups and downs since but at the very least E4C nails it...an exorcism.

Well done ICT and the support.

Looks like Robbo has found it again...I like Calder and McCart, it's a long season, they'll get their chance.

Thought we were magnificent yesterday. Clinical, quick passing and not too much time dawdling on the ball.  Ridgers, Donaldson, Welsh stand out.  Poli and Doran hungry for the ball.  Great performance great result.  Steak bridie is unusual but strangely tasted better yesterday than the same fixture last year ?. Let’s push on from there.  Even cries of “ Ooh to be a Jaggie” which will please a few of my old pals from the other side.....  ??

What a great shame that we don't have the opportunity to build on this momentum quickly due to the international break.

I can understand the Premiership being suspended but why does the Championship have to suffer disruption when so few players in the division are on international duty ?  It would be an opportunity for the league to be showcased with highlights of all games being shown on Sportscene for example.

There were four seasons when that publicly funded programme featured at least one lower league match every week. I can't for the life of me work out why they stopped.

Really enjoyed that .  Some scary moments in the first half.  Great saves from Ridgers !  Superb.  Then the second half.  That counter attacke for the second goal as just magic.  What a ball from Aaron .  Watch the replay on youtube and Polly breaking his baws to get there !  Brilliant.  George Oakley must be the most annoying bugger to play against . he just does not give up .  And that goal.  Great skill from a tight angle.

Defense was pretty solid .  Coll and Carl were braw.  All in all a great result and now that we ve found that we can score , we will continue.

GREAT STUFF>

I seem to recall that we went twenty odd league games unbeaten the season we won the Third Division under Pele. Is this our longest unbeaten run in the league since ?

We went 21 games unbeaten in 2009/10 when we won the old First Division - we lost 2-1 to Partick on November 28th and then didn't lose a league game until the opener of next season against Celtic.  The Patrick game should've been abandoned as well because of fog.
