Inverness CT -V- Dundee Utd (Playoff leg 1)

That was one hell of a game, first half at least. Ruined as a spectacle by the red card, but United seemed to be running out of ideas when they got their goal.

Brilliant effort to stay in the game...play like that on Friday and it's a win.

Good performance from us in both halfs but game ruined as a spectacle by that idiot of a referee. It was a yellow card at best as the United player did lower his head. He then proceeded to thrash about as if he was seriously injured but strangely, he didn't have to go off for treatment and was running about straight away. Don't know if anyone else noticed but it looked like the ref tried to play an advantage for us due to a foul in our box and was about to pull play back for us when the Polworth incident happened. To then compound his mistake, Utd then get the free kick. Shouldn't really be surprised at the ref's performance as hugely similar to his in the last Country game. Truly dreadful refereeing for which there is no excuse.

Don't believe the game is over as Utd were pretty poor, just goes to show that money doesn't always buy you quality and how poor a manager Neilson is.

Even first half, we could have went in ahead if whites header got in instead of post. Sending off should have been a booking only. That changed the game but a strong team performance kept Utd out until late slightly fortuitous goal. Thought Macauley should have come on instead of Harper? Still in it though..to be continued....

He put his whistle to his mouth but didn't give any hand signals that advantage was played

Spot on Huisdean!  We have to go and stuff them on Friday.

Definitely a foul for us in the box though that yet again the idiot of a referee didn't get right. In addition, the number of times White was clearly fouled but got nothing was really poor refereeing. Something really has to be done about the standard of refereeing as the ref on Saturday was equally as poor.

Is there time for any appeal against the red card to be dealt with before the second leg?

Yes but it will cost the club £1,000 which at this moment they do not feel is worth paying in the circumstances.

I thought we were the better team throughout,  and united seemed to lack ideas of how to break us down. That's the second time Nick Walsh has spoiled a game for us, he sent Trafford off against county and now polworth, it was never a red. The standard and inconsistency of the officials in this country is shocking. I hope it's a different ref on friday or we may be F**ked.

Injustice if nothing's done...we all know it was BS, if you have the opportunity to appeal, take it...

Against the possibility that not taking the risk of an appeal could potentially cost us over a million pounds.

Even with money as tight as it is, it strikes me as a gamble worth taking.

Looking on the bright side Utd have shipped 5 goals at home twice this season and we should have beaten them more comfortably in the cup tie at Tannadice they strike me as a team that chuck it once they are two or three down, they struggled to beat Alloa with a goal in the last minute so they are no world beaters. We need the team to go out with a sense of grievance, it can be a great motivator BUT we must take our chances when they come. I don't believe this tie is over and Utd  now have a dilemma do they stick or twist, once you give away momentum in a game it's very difficult to get it back.

A key player restored for a crucial game and probably feeling wronged wanting to make amends is surely ... surely worth £1000.

The scabby Arabs were there for the taking tonite until up pops another pish poor referee who makes a complete hash of things and ruins what was up until then a really good game. The utd players reaction was a fecking joke, banging the ground and rolling around it was comical, but absolute no surprise when you see how the manager hounded and bitched at the 4th official for the total 90mins.

I was amused by some of our supporters shouting abuse at the Utd players and the referee for Utd's time wasting at the end. After the red card, they always looked the more likely to score and having got the goal, I fail to understand why they didn't use the man advantage to push for further goals.  They played as though the it was a one off game and not a two leg tie.  They should have gone for the jugular and  may regret not having done so.  After  conceding the goal I am perfectly happy that we are only one goal down going into the 2nd leg.

Thought Aaron Doran was superb in the first half and it's a great shame that we weren't able to capitalise on his work by scoring.  No doubt that Utd got the rub of the green in this game.  Their fans will now expect them to put the tie to bed at home and all the pressure will be on them.  I think we are capable of upsetting them on Friday.
