Hi there, my name is Phil Sime and I'm a producer for BBC Radio Scotland. I'm making a radio documentary about ICT and how they became a house-hold name after their Scottish cup win against Celtic on 8th February 2000. I am looking for a few fans to contribute to my programme to talk about their memories of going down to Glasgow, the build up, their thoughts and feelings during the match, the win of course and how they themselves were witnessing history in action. Please could you forward this to any fans that you think might be interested in taking part in the programme. I can be contacted directly via phone or email

My own memory of the night is surprisingly clear .....  We had organised a bus from the Caley Inn to the first game that got postponed just as we turned onto London Road! One of my pals from work phoned me and told me before we heard it on the radio and I thought he was winding me up. We were devastated when we heard it was true but made the best of it with a few (friendly) pints in the Celtic club nearby!  I also ran one of the buses for the Feb 8th game when these were provided to the club. Got interviewed on 5 Live after the game and just about managed to not swear (I think my word of the night was F...F..antastic!), then down to Glasgow that weekend for Off and On the ball sandwiched in between a limp defeat at Love Street.

I have a weird coincidence surrounding this game too. Later that same year, I was visiting Toronto (before I moved here) and scored tickets for a pre-season ice hockey game involving the Toronto Maple Leafs ... got talking to the person sitting next to us at the hockey and it turns out they had been visiting Scotland at the time and had also been at that game with a Celtic supporting friend. Small world!

I still have the 'Ballistic' newspaper in a frame on my wall next to a game worn shirt from that night, the program, and my ticket.

Arriving at the ground to be told that the game was off ..................and leaving after the re-arranged  game with a significant police escort. Probably the only time in our history that we had such a convoy.

Bucharest... CW McCall wrote a song about it

Walking back to the car after the game was the first time I ever made a mobile phone call. I didn’t have my own one in those days so I borrowed one to tell my dad the score - he thought I was winding him up. From him taking me to see Caley in the Highland League to us winning comfortably at Celtic Park, just amazing.

Went to Saturday "game" by train with Raymond Biro the late Gordyfromsneck and heard about the cancellation in the taxi we were taking to Parkhead. Spent the afternoon in various art galleries with Gordy then home. I was the only one who could make the Tuesday game so had the trip by coach and the game in a solitary dwam. I was tempted by the bookie's offer of 22 to 1 against Barry Wilson scoring the first goal but walked on much to my subsequent regret. My dwam state included a soundtrack on the way back and when I went into Tesco to get a drink around midnight I wanted to shout out the news. A few weeks later I bought the issue of the Beano (or was it the Dandy?) that included our ballistic team. Anyone else? A memorable time indeed.

They’re wrong. I bought the copy myself. It came out a few weeks after the game and featured “The famous Inverness Caledonian Thistle” coming  over the horizon to help some struggling team who were the subject of the comic strip. I do think it was the Beano not the Dandy but couldn’t swear it.

About 10 years ago we got a mention in the Bash St Kids in the Beano!
