We will have a much better idea once many of our international players, playing for their various countries, return from the Euros.

Those were the days!

Hopefully our new sport fitness specialist is limiting the games for some of the senior players to prevent early season strains.

As for the results - we would like to see big wins against HL teams but then people will just question the standard of opponent, and it is still early days.

Either way we have to be aiming for a good competitive start this year - a poor start and early exit from the league cup is becoming a bad habit which has cost us later in the year.

Its a bit concerning quite a few 1st teamers havent been seen yet? Can only assume they do have knocks tbh

Great to see the likes of Nicolson And Fyffe getting games and keeping clean sheets. These boys will be needed so get them games now - they hardly played any football last year. The coaches know what regulars can do they need to see what everyone else has to offer.

Brora game off Games cancelled came down for tickets and it’s just been called off

Probably the most taxing pre season game we had arranged so a bit of a blow.

I wonder if there will be any scope for arranging a closed door match against either County or Elgin instead ?

I assume we are "the club" mentioned but it's not exactly clear.

Strangely vague statement.  Why don't they just that there's been a positive test rather than a Covid incident.

Presumably to avoid any kind of negative headlines or comments that may appear on the back of this? Sadly it's going to keep happening for a wee while yet I think. We won't be the only club to have someone having to isolate due to COVID-19.

No. It will continue to happen for a while yet.

However, that is no reason not to be clear and honest. Sadly, adequate communication continues to be an ongoing issue at our club despite repeated promises to remedy the problem.

Reading the website version, it is definitely an ICT issue. I have heard that Nairn County have a number of cases whilst most shinty games at the weekend were off due to covid.

With the younger age group being hit most, it is inevitable there will be cases amongst players as they are not vaccinated and could easily pick it up whilst following the current rules. Hopefully it does not impact when competitive matches start.

I suspect that it will continue to have some impact well beyond the start of the competitive season.

However, the odd football match being postponed or even cancelled is a very minor irritation indeed as long as the vaccination programme does it's job and protects the vast majority of those most vulnerable from serious illness.

Once the competitive games start there will be pressure to play games, with presumably positive tested and close contact players missing.

My workplace has seen a spike in track & trace reporting, strangely coinciding about a week after Scotland played at Wembley.

What will happen after lockdown restrictions are removed will be anyone's guess...

It's ICT we don't really do great in the communications arena.

Vaccination does not prevent people spreading it. There are people with second, and even third cases, of Covid even after the jab. The reality is it is here to stay so we have to get used to it. Don't let your guard down even if you have had the jab. The jabs may only be effective for a year or so and are less effective as time goes on. It's not a quick fix for any of us.

No but if we are expecting these guys to be going up and down the country to entertain us then surely the least they can expect is to be double dosed so, if they did catch COVID-19, it will hopefully be pretty mild for them on the back of having two doses of the vaccine.

They should all be double dosed by Sept being in the age group they are. Not sure I would agree re deserving. Tbh I think they should and will be vaccinated when its their age groups turn

I can't agree. There are other more vulnerable people yet to receive a second dose.

Given that these are fit young athletes, whilst there are no certainties, any virus they do contract is likely to result in mild, or no, symptoms even without the protection of vaccination.

Each to their own but I fully agree with what Robbo said recently when he said it wasn't right for everyone else to be at home, staying safe, whilst the players from clubs all over the country were travelling all over the place possibly bringing who knows what back to their families.

I'm hearing we're supposed to be playing Aberdeen behind closed doors at their Cormack Park training centre today.  Said training centre is about a 5 minute walk from my work so if anyone knows what time it's kicking off I wouldn't mind a heads up!

It will stand us in good stead to have a game against better quality opposition before the competitive stuff begins.

Hopefully, we will have a full squad to choose from and a much better idea of our starting XI after Thursday.
