Another top of the league clash and hopefully we get another win, but I am worried about this one. Raith are on a good run after a shaky start to the season and, whilst we normally do well against them, Zanatta caused us problems when we played them earlier in the season and he will fancy his chances against whoever we play at right back.

I’d have taken 1-1 before kick off and then when Raith took the lead. Credit the players for getting back into it and a draw was a fair result. It was quite a scrappy game, particularly the

Not disagreeing, but Raith maintained good defensive discipline in the second half, and we were as aimless and toothless as ever. Going down to 10 men rarely makes the difference that everyone ex

How about instead, we aim to lead the table from start to finish ?

Probably the most difficult fixture since Kilmarnock away but if we can somehow come away from Kirkcaldy with all three points we can certainly consider ourselves genuine title contenders.

On Saturday night I am confident that we will still be top of the league and a Doddsie will celebrate at least a draw. :groovy:

While I will be happy with a draw I am hoping we can push on and get an away win :ictscarf:

Surprisingly I am driving from Berwick to montrose on Saturday. ....

Lynne doesn't know yet that there's a match in Kirkcaldy...

Have you told her you won’t be home for dinner yet 🤣

Another top two battle

It's a biggy this weekend as we travel to Kirkaldy to take on second place Raith Rovers at Starks Park on Saturday. Standard 3:00pm kick-off in this one which could be a massive indicator as to the outcome of this campaign. John McGlynn has slowly assembled a squad very capable of challenging for the Championship title and I expect Raith to be in the mix come the end of the season.

Raith are in fine form at the moment after a sluggish start to their season. Recent wins over Arbroath, Kilmarnock, Partick, Morton and Queen of the South have catapulted them into second place, five points behind Inverness. They are the form team over the last five games with four wins and a draw.

We have a great record overall against Rovers with only five defeats from thirty games. Three of those have come at Starks Park, the most recent was...... erm, as Don McLean said, "A long long time ago, I can still remember how Raith beat us". It was back in the days when buffalo roamed the plains, Delerium were top of the Pops with Silence and flares were still in fashion. Raith won this encounter in Kirkaldy 1 - 4 when we were still finding our feet in the big boys leagues. Surprisingly that was their second last ever victory over the Caley Jags in all competitions over ninety minutes. The last defeat was in the same season almost 21 years ago to this October day. Mind you, they had some great players in their team back then.

Other Fixtures all Saturday at 3:00pm

Arbroath v Ayr United

Kilmarnock v Hamilton Academical

Partick Thistle v Dunfermline

Queen of the South v Greenock Morton

Reminder, we play Arbroath at home on Tuesday 26th October in a full night of fixtures. Kick-Off 7:45pm

Last time out

Raith beat Arbroath 2-1 in a Championship game at Starks Park. Dylan Tait scored an early goal and they went two up just on the interval when Ross Mathews headed in. Arbroath notched a goal deep into stoppage time but that result was enough to put Rovers into second place in the table.

Inverness edged out Morton 2-0 in the Highlands. Billy Mckay and Michael Gardyne scored either side of the break as we extended our lead at the top. It was a not overly convincing performance, but it was another three points in the bag.

In the first meeting between the clubs this season, Inverness won thanks to a solitary goal from Roddy MacGregor in a tight affair in the Highlands. And what a goal it was. Boom!

Latest Team News

David Carson is possibly still absent after a family bereavement. Michael Gardyne was patched up to finish the game against Morton after getting a gash on his head. Manny Duku has still to get off the mark and might find it difficult to dislodge Billy Mckay from the strikers berth, but he will be keen to show his former club he has what it takes to make the grade. It's an artificial surface at Starks Park which might limit some of our options. We are thin at the back and Cammy Harper has a groin injury.

James Keatings will not be in the Raith squad as he is on loan at Montrose. Dario Zanatta will be a threat and keeper Jamie MacDonald, Christophe Berra and Kyle Benedictus add plenty of experience to their defence.

If we lose today we lose ground to Raith first of all.

Simples.

Let's not factor in the losing scenario. One quarter season down it's now time to get a run going, despite there being so many plastic pitches against us now.

I believe the English football authorities or UEFA have caused this by enforcing some ridiculous rule that clubs can not stream while there are games being played in their country. As far as I know, all clubs are bound under this petty rule.

You're right, but this is the first time that I have encountered anyone actually enforcing the rule.

I have just downloaded ProtonVPN - https://protonvpn.com/about - and the outside world now thinks I am in Amsterdam, and Raith are allowing me to buy a ticket.  I'll give it a go - all I can lose is the £14 for the PPV pass, and the only downside is that I'll have to watch the match on my computer, and not the TV.

In case anyone wants to try it, ProtonVPN (and ProtonMail) came out of a project that started at the CERN labs.  The idea was to provide safe and secure comms for journalists and activists.  The bottom line is that I trust them.

You need to set up an account with them - I already had one, because I use ProtonMail.  I am going to try using the free version of ProtoVPN.  The VPN encrypts your comms, and also routes your traffic so that it emerges onto the internet from one of their servers.  The free version allows you to choose between the Netherlands, Japan, and the USA, so naturally I chose the Netherlands.  The next version - "basic" - has many more options and costs 4 euro a month, so if the free version doesn't work, I may try that.

You simply download and install the VPN software, then start it up.  You have to login, and then specifiy which of their servers you want to connect to.  After that, all your comms are routed through their network.

I have checked with some of the "what information am I leaking?" sites that I really do appear to be in Amsterdam.  I have also checked email and web browsing, and all looks OK.

It took less time to install and run it than it took me to write this mail.

Fingers crossed!

Let's go clear at the top today please 😍

A win would be nice but our season has gone so well to date that we will still be clear at the top whatever the score at Starks Park or results elsewhere.

Big afternoon ahead. We’ve a good record against Raith and we need to keep that up!

How we defend, and protecting the back four particularly the full backs, may be key.

Maybe Sutherland will score on his birthday?

Update: McDonald also on the bench:

Raith won't let me buy a PPV pass, because I am in England 😢

Might be time to look for a VPN.  Anyone recommend a reliable and safe one?

I can beat that. Arrived in Lewis last night. I know Lewis is full of incomers, but it appears I’m in England too 😂

The problem seems to be that we have a 4G broadband router as opposed to a landline.

I have used VPNUK before for this site when OAM was on each week. Never had any issues with them. Have not had subscription for 2 or 3 years now so not sure of recent performance : VPNUK : VPN Personal IP Specialists : Welcome to VPNUK .

According to reviews IPVANISH is a good option for Scotland because unlike some services whose UK servers are in England, IP Vanish gives you the option to use servers in Glasgow. I have never tried them but would be interested in knowing details if someone has ....

Opera browser also has inbuilt VPN which can use 'European' server. Not sure how effective it would be for streaming though as sometimes this only changes the IP address but the underlying info remains the same. Its not good enough to fool the BBC for example.

The solution I outlined above is working for me.   I'd have thought it would work for you, too.

I just replied to your earlier post but never read on. Had a quick look at ‘top 5 vpn’ or whatever and they were all needing me to fork out money for something I would hardly ever need. Also the Raith guy Neil was supposed to be helping me out but that hasn’t amounted to anything.

That first half didn’t look like first v second. The teams have cancelled each other out with few chances and a lot of loose passing.

A Raith player was controversially sent off just before half time: were his studs up?

We don’t often do well against 10 players so hopefully that changes this afternoon.
