On the Telly...

Not sure if it's a good thing that we are on the telly on Friday night for all to see given our recent tepid performances, but we travel to Dumfries to take on Queen of the South at Palmerston for a 19:45 kick-off. Unfortunately any confidence we built up over the first nine games has dissipated in the Autumn mist and our form is now on a par with Queens who are second bottom of the table. Only Ayr united are worse over the last five games, and we failed to beat them as well.

Our demise has been excruciatingly rapid over the last few weeks where we have gone from five points ahead to four points and two places behind leaders Kilmarnock in the space of five games where we have only managed to accumulate three points out of a possible fifteen with zero wins. This is certainly not the form of a team looking for at least a play-off place, unless of course it's at the wrong end of the table.

Must be a copy'n' paste on the official preview as that's all we get these days. “There’s always a couple of little niggles, I don’t want to give anything away with it being live on TV. We’ve given them right up until the last minute but apart from that I’ve got a healthy squad to choose from.”  What that probably means is that we have four or five missing, and the usual 'made of rice paper' players injured again and a four man bench. Good to see Carson back last week, let's hope he has no reaction from his first game in weeks and hopefully maybe some news about Shane Sutherland.

QOTS (away v Arbroath 1-1): Brynn, McKay, Nditi, Debayo, Johnston, McGrory, Gibson, Liddle (Todd 78′), Paton, Connelly (Roy 58′), Cameron

Same old story from Dodds <<yawn>>

Well, we made it look hard work in the end, but I thought we played pretty well most of the time.  Could easily have been 4-0 up before Queens fight back.  But all in all a good night's work.  Lets ho

We made life unnecessarily difficult for ourselves for the last quarter of an hour but, on the whole, that was a heartening and entertaining performance. A vital three points stopping the rot of

Great win 😁 Never in doubt. Dominated the game. Worked for each other. Enjoyed that cheers. 😍

Looking forward to this one, which is an opportunity to get things back on track. We often raise our game on tv, as we did in the same fixture last season. More of that will do me just fine.

The lack of numbers in the squad is becoming an issue, and if it continues we may need to get some of those out on loan back, particularly Fyffe or Nicolson as we are light on defenders.

As mentioned on another thread, I’d give MacGregor a run in the “no 10” role if Sutherland is not fit to start. McDonald is due a start on the wing also to see if he can contribute more than Walsh.

The downside is them having Innes Cameron who had a habit of scoring against us when with Ayr and Alloa.

Whatever our line up, let’s hope we put on a good show and get the three points.

No Gardyne, Welsh, Walsh or Duffy. Subs bench looks pretty thing. Line up appears to hint towards a return of the 4411 we had earlier this season.

In Gardyne’s absence, will someone step up and be the spark we need?

Good to see Sutherland back in. MacGregor playing out wide?

Dodds is at the game.

MacGregor is really up for it. He’s been class so far tonight.

Devine unlucky not to get the second there. Great run in box but header just wide.

We need a second while we are on top.

The heady days of the start of the season when we could be confident of hanging onto a 1-0 lead are a distant memory.

Deservedly ahead but we need to play the full 90 tonight.

MacGregor, Sutherland and Allardice have impressed most me so far, and a good penalty by Mckay.

As Kingsmills says, I hope we don’t regret not getting further ahead whilst on top.

Same half time scoreline as last week. Same scorer.

Now we need to make absolutely sure that that's where the similarities to last week ends.

Vital that we hold onto this lead if we are not going to lose touch with our promotion rivals.

Impressed with our first half performance. We are very lively upfront.

We always seem better when Sutherland is in the support role.

What a set piece. So unlucky. Doran corner perfectly to Allardice but header just wide of the post and Mckay’s attempt to touch it in. Deserved a goal.

An important 10 minutes ahead. We need to win this one.

How did we not score there? Mckay off the bar after great play by Allardice.
