Arbroath -V- Inverness CT - Preview

There will be not many teams who take 4 points from Gayfield this season. In the circumstances a good solid point. 3 points of the top with a game in hand going into the new year is OK with me.

Looking at our bench yesterday, we probably could have sought a postponement, as we only had 13 first team players, and only 1 was a goalkeeper. We had MacKay, Welsh, MacGregor, McAlear, McDonald and Jamieson missing altogether

We don’t know which players in the squad had been affected by the virus or unable to train much.

Reflecting on it and as a result of the recent challenges, I think the players were tasked with not losing and they achieved that.

It was not pretty, in large part due to the conditions. We failed to use the wind to our advantage in the first half, but equally we stopped Arbroath using it to their advantage in the second.

I don’t like seeing teams wasting time, and we were guilty of it yesterday, but it reflected the objective of not losing. With a fully fit squad, I’m sure we’d have been more positive in the second half.

Hopefully we have a larger squad available for Saturday and they are all fully fit.

On the downside, I see media speculation of the current restrictions continuing until the Spring. Hopefully that is just lazy reporting rather than anything with substance.

I agree. In the circumstances, a point was a decent result and hopefully when we next play we will be in a stronger and much more normal position.

For what it's worth, my guess is that restrictions will be eased when they are reviewed in two weeks time with crowds perhaps increased to half capacity.

The club’s report on the match:

It sounds like the 20 minutes I missed due to the livestream debacle were our best spell of the game!

Anyone had a response from Arbroath about it and the refund requests?

I got re-connected and there was over 1k watching in the second half which is a good earner for Arbroath unless it was all the ones watching it free

Yes, extremely annoying that most of us missed our best spell. I kept getting the message from Arbroath TV that they were trying to address the outages. I never got back on to the match stream, only the chat. After 20 minutes of changing settings I eventually got on to the Vimeo.

I left several messages on the chat asking for a refund before I was given an email address to claim. Still no explanation of what happened though but I received an email about 1pm yesterday advising that I had been refunded the £13.

They said in the commentary that their server(s) got a bit inundated with season ticket holders who would otherwise be at the match not being able to go due to the restrictions. Seems like a pretty honest answer. Kudos to them for having a plan 'B' on vimeo even if it did mean some of us were able to watch a bit of the game for no charge.

There over 1,000 watching because the Vimeo link quickly got shared round social media so a load of people got to watch it for free.

I received an apology and an explanation by twitter DM. Told them to keep the £13.

I think it's run by volunteers so may take a while to get round everyone?

Thanks for that. In fairness, an apology will appease me given RiG shared the link. I couldn’t get to the chat box to get any guidance from them, so would have missed out had it not been for RiG. Thanks pal!!

Did they also say that they'd had a test run the day before to see how their system would cope with a lot of logins?

Clearly not many Arbroath fans were logging in on Ne'erday

Always happy to promote #content.

When the system was crashing there were around 380 folk watching. Not exactly a robust system if a few hundred folk logging on causes it to fall apart. Even our Pixellot system was bett....nah I couldn't bring myself to seriously finish that
