Time to drop Fraser

i think zibi deserves a chance now. i was at the game today and cringed every time fraser came for a cross. dont know what he was doing for the first goal. then later in the first half he dinked it past a killie player, passed it to mcbain who was under pressure then started to saunter back to his goal when killie could easily have nicked in and put it in the net.

We used to joke about keepers having a poor game as 'having a Zibi' - and now he's in our dressing room! Not a move I support at all.

If Mike puts you on the edge of your seat - I reckon Zibi would have you on the mogadon sandwiches in no time.

Mike gets my vote every time. Brewster won't ruin his confidence by dropping him just as we're starting to get points on the board.

Zibi looked ok in the reserves match last week and had some stunning saves, seemed confident in dealing with whatever was thrown at him in terms of crosses etc and had the added dimension of spotting a player for the quick throw out which he uses to great effect.

Not saying Fraser should be dropped, but if it came to that then I think Zibi looks more than capable based on the couple of times I have seen him since he arrived.

I think it might be time to give Fraser a boot up th erse and show him he can be replaced as easy as anyone else in the team, I can accept that the first may have been a mistake but he didn't seem bothered when coming for the second.. and instead of accepting any blame, he just argued with everyone around him..

Don't get me wrong I think that Fraser will become our number 1 for years, his kicking is second to none and he has bags of confidence but he maybe needs a game on the sidelines

I don't know where you're coming from there mate, you couldn't be more wrong. Kicking is one of Mikeys major weaknesses, not one of his strengths.

Tough call for Brew this one.

I was sitting right behind the goal for the 30 second Killie first one and Mikey had a nightmare but I have to say that his performance throughout the match did not exude confidence and it definitely affected our defence - they were decidedly edgy at times. Looks like he's got a definite lack of concentration.

Does Brew drop him and further undermine what looks like a decided lack of confidence in the boy or put Zibi in the No.1 spot and take a chance on him when we know what his track record at Hibs was like.

Not an easy decision.  :024:

compared to who?

His kicking is generally spot on, 10 times better than what we used to have to put up with when Broonie was in the sticks

Am not a fan of Frasers. I think from day 1, he has looked decidedly dodgy a lot of the time and questionable postioning for a lot of goals. However...........am not sure you drop your 1st choice goalie in favour for someone brought in as short term cover. Would be different if Zibi was an actual ICT player

A keeper makes a mistake and he's hung drawn and quartered. Outfielders make mistakes al the time but nobody calls for them to be dropped.

I dont think Ike should be dropped. He misjudged the ball for their first goal but could not be blamed for the second one. Where were the central defenders.........away for a wee tea break? Our whole defensive play was a bit dodgy today.

saw the second killie goal again and it looks like the defenders have left it for ike, so maybe he called then realised the ball wasnt making it to the box.

understand what you are saying alex with goalkeeping errors being highlighted, but there have been a few time this season. if the mistakes were to continue and he stays in the team then brew is as well as saying its ok ur place is safe. even if it is only one or two games on the bench it would let him know that he needs to improve his concentration during games to ensure the retention of the number 1 spot. after the game it didnt look like it had affected him that much, he was smiling talking to people

I believe Fraser made an excellent save in the 1st half that Brewster was raving about after the match.

When keepers make mistakes it tends to be costly.

Fraser shouldn't be dropped. Zibi is a very poor goalkeeper. I shudder to think of him being our first choice  :018:

Tough one this.. if you saw Zibi vs Gretna in the cup you would have seen a keeper that in my mind is more confident and also controls the box far better than Mike, I have not been convinced with Fraser so far.

Zibi made a couple of mistakes in the 2nd half against Gretna that we were lucky to get away with.

They migjht not have been easy to see if you were in the North stand though. He did look rather accomplished in the first half.

I'd be disappointed if Brewster dropped Fraser over 1 bad performance as he seems determined to pick some players over others reagradless of form

Zibi?? That'll be the same Zibi who almost single handedly, through his goalkeeping inability, gave us 6 points the other season?

The same Zibi who Hibbees are desperate for some club to take him off their hands?

Seems to be some short term memories on here!!

If Michael is suffering a confidence crisis at the moment, dropping him will do nothing to help him out with that one. I'd rather him in goals anyday over that clown Zibi.

Praise him or not its a no win sit uation for the time being, the amount of goals conceded speak for themself. We just need to score lots of goals between now and the transfer window.

Look where DDU are in the league, their fans have been well impressed with their keeper.

He just needs is a couple of clean sheets to give his confidence a boost,

all you can do is offer encouragement and hope he excels himself just like the rest of the team have,no point slagging him off when nothing can be done about it [for a couple of months].

Hopefully this thread will disappear !

Just can't make up my mind about this. Forget the mistake for the opener; I thought Fraser looked very shaky at cross balls yesterday, his kicking wasn't great and, as Div1309 pointed out, he took some ridiculous risks with the ball at his feet, almost as if he was trying to show that he hadn't lost confidence. One great save with his feet that I remember, when a Killie attacker was clean through. My initial response was that he was at fault for the second, but my mate thought that Granty was more to blame for letting Nish in.

I've never been all that impressed by Fraser's all-round game, but whether it's right to drop him because of the sort of blunder that every keeper has now and again, I'm just not sure. If he's only staying in the team, however, because the alternative is such utter pysh, then that's not a very good omen for the club. Maybe Malkowski's career could be resurrected, a la Dargo or Dods, by the wonderful healing power of ICT?

Bit of a blow for Mike as he looked pretty good the previous two games, even coming for crosses and catching cleanly.  I fear for him if he slips into the reserves again as he might just stay there if Zibi shows up well.  I like his casual approach and his kicking is normally a strong point for him, well, better than Broons anyway.  Bit of hard work needed with the coaches to get back up to speed and get the confidence back.

I can't say that I ever really feel confident when Fraser is in goals but the alternative isn't that great either.    I have to say that I find it a bit silly that we send 2 other youngsters with little experience out on loan to Elgin but yet we throw a young keeper straight into the SPL.    He should have been away out on loan somwhere first.  I mean Zander Sutherland has taken Elgin by storm,  look at there message boards,  they think he's amazing!!    He will be a **** of a player when he comes back!!

well obviously at the time of browns departure, ike was the only choice. if he is dropped for zibi then it can only be good for him as it will make him see that he needs to improve his concentration in order to retain the number 1 sport

Fraser has been erratic so far this season.  He goes from having a great game where he meets every crossed ball and attempt on goal with confidence and composure to games where he looks the total opposite.  For that reason I don't think his problem lies in his ability but something else.  It could be confidence, attitude, too may late nights, his mother washing his strip in a different detergent...I don't know, but I know that he needs to get it under control or Brewster will be justified in giving Zibi his chance sooner rather than later.
