Why is Christmas celebrated on December the 25th when there is no evidence to say that that was the date Jesus was born on?

That's easy enough, it's the best time to flog off all the stuff you still have on the shelves before the end of the year, sigh...

Canada Bob.

Apparently there's a lot of evidence to say that Jesus was born in the summer and Jehovah's Witnesses think that he was born on 1st October.

"TinCanFan - Why is Christmas celebrated on December the 25th when there is no evidence to say that that was the date Jesus was born on?"

It's actually the date of the Pagan celebration - Winter solstice or something like that.  Jesus was born in March.

What sadist put the "s" in lisp?  And why is dyslexic so hard to spell???

What do Irish battles fought over 300 years ago have to do with Scottish football ?

History lesson................The Battle of the Boyne was fought between refuge seeking Jacobites and English forces. Both sides recruited the assistance of Irishmen, most of whom ran away when the battle started. If you ever get the chance to be in that area go see the battlefield and the relics of that skirmish. Reminded me a bit of Culloden but with a river.
