  1. On one hand I can't help but feel that if it was felt we were in with a genuine shout of the title back in January we would not have got rid of him. On the other hand I have heard he was not the most positive influence in the dressing room.

Bottom line, though, is have we missed him? No.

    So I guess it wasn't a mistake.

  2. Have just rung the Daily Record to complain about the poor one column coverage that we got in today's paper. I asked to get put through to the sport's editor and lo and behold found myself speaking to James Traynor.

I asked him why we had only got one column when even Brechin got a page and a half! To be fair to him he expressed grave disappointment himself saying that the production team had made this decision and that it was totally wrong to give us so little in terms of column inches. I went on to outline the fabulous day we had with a crowd in excess of 6000 in attendance.

Even although it was a 'meaningless' fixture he felt that we should have at least got a decent picture of our celebrations included.

The upshot is that Jim said he would definately be speaking to the production team who were due in the office at 2pm today.

He didn't exactly apologise but I did feel that he was genuinely narked about the lack of coverage for ICT.

Well done. The Sunday Herald was totally pathetic yesterday in terms of coverage.

  3. Total nonsense! We only need ten teams in this league to keep the standard high. I mean, nobody wants to watch a bunch of pub football teams all running around the pitch chasing the ball. If you remember the early days of the premier league attendances went up in correlation with, in my opinion, the level of skill.

Lets keep a high standard here and not dilute the league with also rans.

Really rich from an Aberdonian. Why not have an eight team league? That would get rid of the Dons quick enough. Quite priceless.

You want to open up top flight football to as many different communities as possible. That's got to be good. You have to get rid of the split which is a piece of total nonsense. You want to give as many Scottish players as possible the chance to play at the highest level to see what they are made of. A year in the SFL has certainly shown me that there are some really good players who could and should be playing at a higher level. Even Dundee and County have a few. What more can I say!

  4. I actually filled Les up with Vodka and Coke last night and he told me that it's going to be "Torridon and the Staggies" performing "We're On Our Way" live with a medley from the Dingwall Gaelic Choir as a supporting act.

How may gallons does it take to fill Les up?

  5. The 2 pitch invasions during the game, have been included in the referees report both clubs may now be punished by the SFA's disciplinary committee.

Normally in these circumstances, a copy of the referee's report is sent to the clubs involved and their comments invited.

The clubs have 14 days to respond and the matter will then be dealt with by the disciplinary committee at the next meeting

From speaking to Jimmy Falconer yesterday I believe this to be correct and ICT are bracing themselves for a fine. More pitch invasions this Saturday and the powers that be are likely to be throwing the book at them. So don't do it.

Police and stewards in Inverness are likely to be more prepared than their counterparts in Ayr were. If fans do come onto the pitch they will probably grab some of them who could easily find themselves ejected from the stadium (at best) and possibly banned from returning. Even if they don't get a hold of you straight away, there will be photos galore of the offenders all over the web and the club might act later.

Maybe you think I'm scare-mongering but this advice comes from years working with the Supporters Trust and seeing the difficulties fans get into when they either break the law of the land or the rules that apply to football stadia. In some cases, they have been put through absolute hell. Don't let it happen to you on what should be such a great day.

  6. I'm with Scotty on this one, and whilst I chose not to join in the first twice I was on the pitch at the final whistle.

It probably shouldn't have happened but it was always going to and it did....so it's a "hey ho" as opposed to "bah humbug" from me.

It didn't really cause any delay, the fans were on, celebrated and off and it took no longer than player celebration and return to the centre for the re-start. Ref didn't look particularly surprised or perturbed and stewards handled it appropriately without creating any undue problems or carting anyone off....which might have happened in many other places we've visited this season.

All I would add is that I hope the fans don't get carried away when we start pumping the goals past Dundee next week. Let's keep the partying to the stands until the final whistle and give nobody any excuse to rain on the parade.

Agree totally with CaleyD's last paragraph.

I do fear that ICT will need to be seen, after the events at Somerset, to do their utmost to make sure there are no pitch invasions during the Dundee game. Two pitch invasions in consecutive games, no matter how good natured, will be frowned upon by the powers that be.

So I would not be surprised to read next Saturday night of fans complaining about what they consider to have been heavy handed policing and stewarding during the game. I'm not sure that can be avoided. I would also expect the players to be given advice to not over celebrate goals and certainly not get anywhere near the perimeter wall which Eagle and Morrison did at Ayr and led to folks coming on to the pitch.

Be careful folks. People have been led away in handcuffs after pitch invasions at Caledonian Stadium before.

  7. Found this on You Tube. It's shot in Feb '74 and can only be a year or two before he came to Caley. While the comic value of watching Arbroath beat the Gers is worth a look in itself, seeing Penman again after all the years is so good. You can pick him out on the field from a mile off.

  8. Remember the last day at Hamilton? We took at least 500. It was a six pointer. It was freezing. It was lashing. We got soaked at the BACK of the stand. We got humped. Oh memories!

The smell of sweaty socks with shoes in the air..........
