  1. Thats quite a problem, two equally enticing scenarios. IHE quite likes the scouse derby idea, but then again he's also attracted to the Killie in the cup/lesbian choice. Very tricky, which way will he decide. Well, there's only one way to find out.....................!!!

  2. where you get that info from???

    [/q

Info from close county follower with connections to some of the players and management. Might not happen yet, but genuine

information as far as I know.

  3. Not been much on the mill lately, so here's something that most people will find not very surprising. Higgins contract runs out at

the end of the season with County and he wants to join us. It might depend on us staying up though. I haven't seen him play

but apparently he's much better than AB, very quick, elusive and natural goalscorer and much more likely to impress in the SPL.

This all comes from a reasonably reliable source.

  4. Guess it's a sign of how much Butcher has improved our confidence that I came away yesterday feeling a bit disappointed about us only getting a point. Fair result, but after an hour or so I was daring to hope. Another really spirited performance, though. Duncan, as many have already mentioned, had an excellent first half in particular. Black stood out in the second and covered Duncan's absence really well when Duncan was sent off. I like the look of Imrie and Odihambo up front - load of pace and effort and a little skill too, although as someone said earlier, they still need to build a better understanding. The defence fought for everything and apart from the goal coped reasonably well with a fair bit of pressure. Actually felt Munro was more commanding than Midhadjuks today, but there's no doubt they're the best CB partnership we've had in a couple of seasons. Esson makes a big difference too - he may have fumbled for the goal but he got everything else. I suspect opponents feel far more intimidated playing against him than they do against Fraser. Zadi made a few more good interceptions and strong clearing headers, and although there was also a fair bit of wild slashing at the ball as the second half went on, I think that overall this back four clears its lines far more effectively than the previous line-up where was Hastings at LB and Rosscoe seemed to push forward more. As for the wider players, Foran won a lot in the air, used the ball well and tracked back well, without really imposing himself as a creative force, while Proctor was probably our quietest player without doing anything wrong.

Although I'd like to see a little more creativity from the midfield, I think Butcher's strategy of retaining a successful line-up is the right one. Two changes will be enforced on him next week - I'm sure he'll take the opportunity to give Kerr his chance, and while I'd like to see Vigurs get the other place, I wouldn't be surprised if Butcher opted for the experience of McBain. A few winnable games coming up, and if we keep up yesterday's attitude and get a little more sharpness into the team going forward, we'll start picking up points.

According to the Mail on Sunday ( I get it for the free DVD ) we had Derek Stillie in goal for us yesterday....where do they get these reporters from.

  5. Its not an issue, we need them all. Just because things worked out well yesterday

does,nt mean they always will. Long term injuries, suspensions, tiredness and loss

of form, even the odd jail sentence can all come along and upset the apple cart.

For the 4 who began yesterday we have cover in Imrie, Proctor, Gillespie and Duncan

and for this year Wilson. We will probably need them all before the seasons out. Also

different types of player may be more suitable for certain games than others. We forget

quickly what influential games the likes of Russel Duncan in the holding role have had

against the big teams like Rangers and Celtic. I,d be a little more circumspect in what

you wish for when it comes to dumping one of our most (and only) experienced senior players.

  6. I was encouraged by our first half display.....although Hibs missed a couple o sitters and really should have been 2-1 up at half time!

Second half however was an even worse display than last week !! Long hoofed balls up the park more in panic than hope, unable to make 10 yard passes, and if hibs strikers hadn't been having a bad day at the office we could've lost 6-1!

Couldn't understand why Rankin was being booed, although it was coming from just one section of the home support.

Can't understand why Tokely is being singled out in some of the above posts? However, there are a few players who, after their performances in last 2 home fixtures, need a :rotflmao:

Serious question: Is Barrowman carrying an injury ?.............he seems unable to run at any pace whatsoever?

  7. Mann4thejob! A shame indeed.....but more to the point, shame on you......"and still quite young"....really. You'll be telling us 75 is the new 55 next. You would'nt be careering through

your middle years by any chance would you.

  8. Save your breath Starchief, I've been calling for Ross to be given a run at centreback for years

now, even as far back as the 2nd division days, no one ever takes a blind bit of notice. If he had been introduced to the ways of central defence years back, we may by now have one of the better CHs in the Spl. On the other hand, I'm no coach or manager, so may be missing something in his play that would make him playing there unsuitable. Even Paterson who was his footballing mentor and knew him better than anyone only tried him there a couple of times and then dropped the idea.

  9. As always , hard to tell much from first proper friendly, so read with caution...................

Barrowman has a bit about him, given quality service he should score at least 10-15 goals in

the SPL. Compared to Wood and Rory he's a Torres. Zadi should cause defences a lot of problems this year......our own! Evans the Trialist; looks like he'll carry that tag for a while yet,

until he settles in at a nice mid table 2nd division club. Imrie appears to be carrying on his improvement and should be a positive force for us this season. Zander looked fast and lively but

tended to run into dead ends with no creative outcomes....much refining still needed. Our defensive unit looked better in the 1st half when Grant was organising but very poor once he left the game....much work still to be done there, although to be fair Brewster played 2 up front

supported by 4 attacking midfielders and a mad left back, leaving huge gaps for County to exploit.... I can't see us playing that system very often.  Our best player? Probably Black, his

usual hard tackling, calmness on the ball and good distribution, plus, he kept his cool despite

some provocation....which is more than you can say for Rossco. Team for Aberdeen?

                                                        Fraser

                                 Tokely  McGuire   Munro    Hastings

                                 Wilson  Cowie    Black       Imrie

                                           Niculae   Barrowman

Same old, same old, I'm afraid......still, if we could change the habit of a lifetime and register some early victories for once, the confidence might take a boost and who knows what might lead on from there.

  10. Seems to me the future of the Brewster/Thompson/Savage axis is inextricably linked ( dont know about Grassa ). Nothing will happen this year, no matter what results the team produce,

mainly because of the non-relegation situation but also because of the huge egos involved. I'm

sure Brewster has already persuaded Savage to ride out this season and await the new team

moulded in his own image for 2008/09. Consequently it will be the first  10 games of next season that decide the fate of the management and board. So I guess we might as well keep our powder dry until then and carry on backing the lads as best we can, they may be awful at present but I still believe they care.

  11. Just in defence of Rossco, Macbandy......in case you were not watching closely at the time. The

Falkirk goal came as a direct result of Blackie losing the ball in midfield after trying something just a little bit too clever immediately after he had been announced as man of the match over the tannoy. Just to put the record straight.

  12. Apropos of nothing, I see according to the P&J business supplement, David Sutherland our

esteemed ex chairman paid himself ?5 million from his Tulloch Homes Group's ?32 million pre tax profits last year. Congratulations Sir, couldn't happen to a nicer benefactor. I don't suppose you could throw a few quid Russells way could you......just to shut the blighter up.

  13. MacAffrey, Rankin, Hart, McDonald, Morgan , Watt, Ridgers, McAllisiter, Sutherland, Wood.

Gone, going , or future uncertain, all since Mr Brewster's return. Looks like there is a sorting out

going on of sorts, with Craig gradually putting his own side together, lets hope he gets it right.

  14. Johndo and conival, exactly what i've been saying since the man arrived( as the people I sit with are getting fed up of hearing. Markus may have had the ability to have been an out and out winger in the 2nd division but he hasn't got the pace over 20 or 30 yards or the basic trickery to perform as effectively against the better of the defences in the spl. But in the games

when he moves inside to an inside left position and supports the main striker(s) he looks a different player. From that position he seems to read the game better, frequently gets into goal scoring positions with his feet and head, supports and feeds those around him really well.

In tight positions where he doesn't have the time to think on what he has to do, he seems to have the gift of conjouring up chances instinctively and  combined with an excellent early release of the ball, it seems to me he's too good an asset here than to be wasted out on the wing. I can understand why Brew feels he has to try and find some effective wide pacy play from somewhere, but I dont think Markus is that man, and can only hope he comes to see it our way in the future and gives him a run as an attacking midfielder

  15. 2 goals each against the likes of Gretna and Kilmarnock, and a poor

Hibs ( although admittedly a fine game versus Celtic). Before that, not

that impressive whilst settling in and no goals apart from Arbroath. Not really the form as yet to send bigger teams rushing to Inverness to slap a big fee on the table. Unless he does something incredible in the 3 games left in january I would think he would be with us until at least the end of this season.

  16. Interesting interview with brew on Radio 5 Live sports programme last night, quite long to ( 10 mins) waxed long and thoughtful over the celtic game and all things ICT. Sounded very relaxed and confident, happy to be back with us( so he should be), all in all quite encouraging. You can probably here it on Radio 5 Live web site playback  facility for the next 6 days if your interested.

  17. Marius is totally different to Dargo. Dargo was a pretty pacey penalty box player, always on the shoulder of the last defender, niggling away

and picking up the scraps from 6 yards out, thats how he got 20 goals a season. Marius as witnessed so far hasn't got that game. He plays a similar game to Denis, which is a worry. Can we afford them both in the same starting eleven? Maybe, against Gretna and Falkirk but the partnership seems to struggle when up beside better defences. If we should go back to playing 4-4-2 anytime, wouldn,t it be better to play one holding ball player ( Marius or Denis) alongside a nippy goal hanger.

Exactly.......we haven't got one. So in the event of not being able to attract a decent one fromour own division, how about going back to

Partick for Buchanan...8 goals already and seemingly ever improving.
