I've only very quickly looked over the pervious posts so apologies if I'm going over old ground.
IMO unless there has been a serious identified threat from the police/authorities regarding fans or certain sections of fans then blanket searches see very OTT and are arguably more likely to cause the unrest that they may seek to stop. That said in a nutshell I have no issue with sporadic random searches (even if that includes me) if it helps put off people taking things into the event that they should not. I see little or no difference from a football game to a music festival or even going into a nightclub. In the case of nighclubs - ROAR as i've been told on more than one occasion!
In fairness at TCS it's not the stewards that have ever caused me massive stress it's the bloody traffic wardens outside!

I'm sure others have probably discussed the reasons for people not buying tickets (particularly at this time of year) before so I'll no go into that.
However - If for example 2/3 of sections at the west end of the north stand were used for away fans the home fans would presumably not be able to access the food and toilets at the west of the stadium as the fans would mix. Therefore the majority of the north stand and the whole main stand would have to use the facilities within the main stand, which I'm sure could lead to a bit of a messy situation, plus what about ST holders in this (now away fans) area? Would it be a case of 'sorry you can't have your usual seat, but your mate in the next section over can, tough' It would alienate a good number of folk who are the people actually buying tickets.
I'm sure there's a good number of people in the north stand supporting Celtic anyway!
Regardless, if this benefit cap is introduced Celtic ticket sales will plummet anyway.!
Edit - repeated myself, not for the first time!

West Stand covers the terracing in that area and is concrete poured over the original steps. Not sure how suitable the new steps are in terms of dimensions for converting to safe standing. Centre section houses the media scaffold towers which would need to be moved backwards (they need to stay on the centre line) which would place them above the roof of the catering area...cost would be involved in doing that as you can't just sit them on the roof. Terracing towards the away end....we were already denied permission to use that by police for terracing when in Div 1 as segregation would have (in their opinion) caused problems.
It also doesn't solve the issue of closing in the stadium, which seems to be the OPs main problem.
Bottom line is that many of these things would be possible if we had the money....but we don't and I can't see us having it any time soon. Even if the clubs income was to increase by £500k a year, there's lots of other stuff that need money spending on them before a 4th stand/enclosure would reach the top of the priority list.
That's interesting as, unless I'm misunderstanding the area you are referring to there seemed to be no problem with Celtic fans occupying the west stand at 'our' end in the last game.
