  1. If he scores and celebrates il boo him. If he doesnt il maintain some respect for him.

But can't say I'm happy with him.

Why shouldn't he celebrate scoring a goal for the team that pays his wages?

to show abit of respect to the fans the supported him for 16 years of his career perhaps

So no players should celebrate scoring against their former teams? (I guess the same should apply to Munro too) Depends what you regard as celebrating, a smile, a hug from teammates? I very much doubt he'd go running up to the ICT fans jumping for joy. Perhaps just a wee wave to Butcher.

Also you say you are not happy with him? I presume for moving to County, would you have been happy to help cover his mortgage, or costs for moving house instead perhaps?

  2. Ross 'County' Tokely - should make next seasons derby games a bit spicier then....

Looking forward to them even more now. I predict though that should County win the first derby CTO will implode! :burning: Here's hoping that we'll have the last laugh. :bouncyblue:

    Edit - Spelling as always.

  3. England haven't been as hyped up as in recent tournaments and the 'we're going to win it' attitude doesn't appear to be there.

I'll take the Dutch to lift the trophy.

    Yep, I'd go with that!

  4. Oh please! Do you really think Butcher would offer anything but the best for his golden boy?!

So nobody knows what kind of deal Foran got then....bar it was a two year one? And even I knew that!

That would make him around the same age, when it is up, as Tokely is now.....so we'll see then how much of a Captain Untouchable he is....won't we?

Age isn't the issue, performances are what matter. As for Foran, I guess it will depend if Butcher is still here in 2 years as to what contract he receives.

Thing is, I have never seen either of them play, to my knowledge, I can only go by posts on this forum, and I am here reading all Match Threads on Match Days (if I remember it is a match day) and listening to the BBC link....and tbh, over the piece, neither of them appear to have regularly covered themselves in glory...but then, I suppose it depends on whether the person posting an opinion is a Foran fan or a Tokely fan.

So failing any other criteria , if neither are playing great, then age has to have an input to any decision as to contracts...stands to reason...doesn't it...or do you give contracts and not just cross your fingers, but also your toes and your legs, that the person who is slowing down this season and approaching 34 will suddenly get a new lease of life next season to warrant the contract he thinks he deserves or do you take a chance that the 31 year old has more chance of coming good next season? (Given that none of us know what money was on offer, just how long the contract was)

    Seems to me a no-brainer. .

People can't be a Foran and Tokely fan? (Or indeed of neither?) I'd imagine most people will simply be fans of the team.

As you say we don't know the figures involved but if there are cuts in the playing budget (and there are) then surely you'd think everyone will have to take a cut of some kind, I'd be appalled if that wasn't the case. However past events would indicate that there are certain player(s) that are held in a 'preferential' status from the manager.

I made all but one home game last season and I don't believe that either played too badly last season on the whole. Foran was very poor (both in attitude and performace) in the earlier parts of the season, mostly when he was up front to be fair but he was the one who said he was gonna score the goals to make up for Rooney iirc. Improved when he dropped back and seemed somewhat back to his previous form. Tokely made mistakes and had a couple of bad games no doubt but he was consistently our most solid defender over the season imo.

If age has to come into contracts in your scenario then are you saying that the older player has to accept that a pay cut is on the cards, thus it would be ok for Foran to not take a cut and Tokely to be given one? Does that apply if one player is 21 and the other 25 or if one player is 6 months older than the other?

Signing any player is taking a chance, if both players are 'slowing down' what difference does it make? Defenders can last a bit longer in the game generally than midfielders (look at Weir) so is 1 year really that big a difference? Tokely will be 33 at the start of next season, Foran will be 32 and seen as age seems to be the deciding factor with you the difference is actually 1 year and 3 months between them FFS!

Nobody goes on forever but I saw nothing to indicate that he wouldn't manage another season in the SPL, but that's just my opinion. Shame as I'd have liked to have seen both players in the squad next season, but sadly that isn't the case. Best of luck to him in the future.

    Edit- Spelling.

  6. may not of been better, but were certainly on a par with them.

all im saying is i was hugely impressed with golobart last season and if i was given the option as manager id take him back in an instant even ifit meant we couldnt keep tokely.

tokelys leaving and was magnificent in his 16 years here and we should be forever greatful but he seems to be spitting the dummy out the pram to me.

where is he going to go? he wont get a better offer not at the stage he is at. i find this move very strange on tokelys part, and i dont buy into the 'terry didnt want him' stories, tokely had the chance to re-sign for us and he didnt take it, i dont see where he is going to go from here.

I have to say Luke if TB ever needs to employ a spin-doctor you're the man for that job! ;)

  7. The club makes a loss of several hundred thousand pounds every year and needs that sort of injection every year to keep us full-time and solvent.

Yeah, this was my understanding. Money was for keeping things ticking over (i.e. general operating costs) for another season rather than a 'war chest'.

  8. The problem I have is should I buy a season ticket? Having sat through dross last season I thought we might just kick on this season but since we are going to start with a team of strangers again we are back to square one. Its all very well having a team of journeymen but will they have the passion? Have they heard of Ross Country, I fear the worst.

Of course you have your concerns, we all do but go on get yersel down to the stadium and help the team out! Like a marriage there are good and bad times, sometimes you're in bed with a smile on your face, sometimes your on the sofa and sometimes the other half really p*sses you off but deep down you know you still love them :love02:. So go get that ticket!!! :ictscarf: After all in either case there's always the bar.... :drinking04:

  9. In the short-term and when everything is going their way, narcissists are often charming, charismatic, compelling, and persuasive. In fact, a little narcissism may provide surface advantages to succeeding as an entrepreneur. The problems arise when the narcissist feels challenged or threatened. If the flow of admiration from others starts to slow down or stop, if funding fails to materialize, if the marketplace doesn’t behave as the narcissist hopes, narcissists are prone to angry outbursts and attempts to retaliate. Narcissists specialize in making everyone else’s life miserable.

Over time, a narcissist will create an emotionally hazardous work environment for the non-narcissist. He (or she) will surround himself with co-dependants,enablers,followers. If he is high enough up the organization, he will appoint them. If he can't appoint them, he will make life so difficult for those who don't subscribe to his 'world view' (or tacitly accept it), that they will leave. The narcissist will eventually end up surrounded by individuals who play the pathological reciprocal role that his behavior typically induces.

And do we not all know who the feckin co-dependants,enablers,followers are ?

You should really speak to someone regarding starting your own daytime tv show a la Dr Phil or a more up market Jeremy Kyle!

  10. Just for your information, we are open today and tomorrow from 10am - 3pm. Renewals processed over this weekend will be processed at the early bird rate. Standard prices will apply as planned from Monday. We are also open Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday normal hours 10am - 5.30pm

If there was ever a post highlighting the lack of season tickets purchased to date this is it

When the club shop resorts to pleading requests it's a fair indication that things aren't too rosey in the garden

    Dougal

I take it you've got your season ticket to support the cause Dougal... oh wait you're saving your money to watch County, I forgot. :tuttut:

  11. Quote from Lindsay Tokely on Facebook:-So after hearing numerous untrue reports I'd just like to confirm as of 48 hours ago, after 16 years of service Ross confirmed he will not be playing for caley thistle next season.

That's the last of the old brigade!

Was just about to post the same. A sad day :(

  12. I am all for setting a deadline if you have an inclination that it will in turn make your out of contract players sign on a bit sooner however if its true that no-one has signed on then the deadline was pretty ineffective.

I agree that we need to see who is available to play for us next season but IMO this just reinforces the point that contract talks should have happened months ago. I dont buy into the excuse that we cannot negotiate with players while the threat of relegation is there. Relegation release clauses or relegation wage drops could easily we written into contracts

Foran got a new 2 year deal in January without a problem. Was he the only one offered a new contract then???

IIRC Hogg was offered his contract not long after he was injured.

  13. Excuse me for not picking up on the tongue in cheek comment hidden among your string of moans and complaints about not getting the letter....or was it all just one big wind-up, you did really get it and I've taken it hook, line and sinker?

No problem, you are excused and no it was not one big wind up. I never thought what I posted would really wind up anyone tbh, it didn't seen that controversial, you should probably relax a bit.

I'm looking over my posts in this thread to try and find my ' string of moans and complaints' and I have to admit I'm struggling to see it. :furtive: I mentioned that I was surprised to not receive one, in fact looking over it again I started with 'Not the end of the world...' another poster said that they were actually sent out and they recieved one. I responded to this with a lighthearted comment (which you totally misunderstood) and said that they where perhaps lost in the post (which you agree was 'not beyond the realms of possibility') or possibly an oversight. I don't know what you regard as a string of moans and complaints but I mentioned it twice FFS! The first time only to mention that it actually happened. Only once did I say I was dissapointed, which is not even a moan nor a complaint. Strange that you seem very quick to moan and complain about people you see as moaning and complaining, do you see the irony?

Take it easy mun, don't look for wee things to get irate about! :rasta:

  14. Perhaps they could only afford the postage on some of them! If it was just me then perhaps it got lost in the post, but if others are saying they never got theirs obviously there has been an oversight somewhere.

The club are going to risk losing out on hundreds of pounds just to save themselves the cost of a stamp....are you for real!!!!

Given the volume of letters sent...and having helped put the renewal packs together I know there were thousands...then it's not beyond the realms of possibility that a few would go astray within the postal system and it's also not beyond the realms of possibility that of those then more than one would be a user on here.

Yes CaleyD I was being 100% for real, I really honestly thought that folk at TCS were fighing over a book of stamps! :rotflmao: I've put a wee smiley in here (which I couldn't do in my previous posts as I was on my phone) which will hopefully make it a bit easier for you to see that it was not a comment to be taken literally.

There are many things that are 'not beyond the realms of possibility' but that doesn't mean it happened. Perhaps the postmaster in the Inverness sorting office is a County supporter! (See I did the same thing with the smiley again).

Perhaps they could only afford the postage on some of them!

The club are going to risk losing out on hundreds of pounds just to save themselves the cost of a stamp....are you for real!!!!

Not to put words in Fraz's mouth, I think the comment was meant tongue in cheek

Well done Martin, A+ for you correctly deciphering my complex prose.

  15. Not the end of the world but I was quite disappointed that we never even received a letter thanking us for our support etc and asking us to renew as we have had in previous years.

As I mentioned in another thread I have renewed but my wife has not. Due to not really enjoying it anymore and wanting to spend the time with our baby daughter.

Despite bleating on here last week about the entertainment last season I renewed ours last Friday. Do they issue books in number order? If they do I got numbers 109 and 110 for the Main Stand. A mate got number 118 this Monday. Does that mean we have only sold that number of season books to date for the Main Stand.

Disappointing that the club didn't have the decency to send out an application form this year.

Here's hoping that our pre-season picks up and we get some folk signed up or it could be a depressing decision lol!

Don't know where your letters are, but we received our letter of thanks early May, presumably after possible relegation was not an issue. Dated 26th April, " The Journey Continues". Also included details of the fans evening on May 7th and application form for season tickets.

So no gripes from us and tickets have been renewed

Perhaps they could only afford the postage on some of them! If it was just me then perhaps it got lost in the post, but if others are saying they never got theirs obviously there has been an oversight somewhere.

  16. We will sign a few players in the next 3 weeks before pre season. We will have the usual trialists and a sprinkling of loanees. Put it in the oven for a season and we will have a lovely fluffy ict sponge.

Wasn't last season the 'building' season? Some of what ur drinking pls Luke! :D

  17. Absolutely disgraceful......SPL vote in new rules which give NewCo green light to stay in the SPL - http://www.bbc.co.uk...otball/18263819

Nothing more than a license for SPL clubs to continue what they are doing now (running up debt, then clearing the board via administration)...and the bigger the club the more likely you are to get away with it as a 1/3rd loss of points isn't going to see you relegated.

Sanctions for NewCo's to be decided on a "case by case basis"....unreal!!!

    Case by case....

Which I guess would mean in the case of the OF we will bend over backwards for you and in the case of everyone else we will bend you over.

  18. As I mentioned in another thread I have renewed but my wife has not. Due to not really enjoying it anymore and wanting to spend the time with our baby daughter.

Not the end of the world but I was quite disappointed that we never even received a letter thanking us for our support etc and asking us to renew as we have had in previous years. Just as well I'm on CTO to find out about early bird dates, cos I haven't even seen anything in the local media about it. Though I'd have probably called the club to see what was happening anyway.

Here's hoping that our pre-season picks up and we get some folk signed up or it could be a depressing decision lol!
