  1. Having not seen the team play for a while (due to weather and work commitments) I have to say that I thought ICT were a much improved side with some good passing play and a fair bit of style. At least that was the case for the first 24 minutes!

I am puzzled as to why Adam Rooney was playing up front as a lone striker. This was a game for two out-and-out strikers (Rooney and Foran). We seemed ok in midfield - its just a pity we were woeful in attack and defence. One of the main problems with our players is that they are still shot-shy and afraid to shoot on sight. We need risk takers who will have a blast from outside the box whenerver they get the chance.

This was a good game for the neutral - and the 35 Ayr United supporters - but Ayr should have been well and truly buried by half-time.

Got to agree we should have been out of site by half time but sometimes thats the way it goes.

we played some good stuff at times but also overplaying at times. the next 7days will have a big say in the rest of our season.

  2. :thumb03: I really hope this game's on , what a dissapointment last Saturday :)

Well Mr Batty said on the weather tonight that were meant to be getting snow tomorrow and thats one tihng we could do without right now

Agreed Hard hitting financially if it is off.

  3. Apparently they've got a couple of decent young guys on loan from Hearts so I can see them being a very different prospect from our previous meeting this season. I'm going:

    Esson

    proctor Munro bully ldz

    Hayes Duncan mcbain Foran

    Rooney Odiambo

Same team 2-0 Caley Foran & Rooney if game is on.

  4. no-one is taking the **** !!! You are making ludicrous statements and calling the club "diddies" at every opportunity (12 times in your first 12 posts on this site) without the facts or reasoning to back it up.

Yes the club can be run in a 'diddy' fashion in some ways at times but you are fighting a losing battle on this particular episode as they are not at fault on this one. Not sure whether you have an axe to grind with the club over something or what it is if you have one, or even if you are just a County fan on a wind up but it certainly comes across as one of those.

Bottom line, the USH is immaterial as it is not a requirement, whether the club switched it on on Thursday, Friday, or 10 minutes before the ref arrived matters not a jot (although late morning Friday was the actual timing). The call-off is also not their fault, the referee makes that decision and as has been stated time and time again on this thread, ONE of the clubs was desperate to get the game played and it was not the away side !!! If there was a mixup between inspections on Friday, Saturday AM and the only one we know that actually took place on Saturday at 11AM that too is not the fault of the club it is a communication issue between SFL/SFA/Referees Association

I take enough pot shots at the club myself and we all know Don's recent history of speaking his mind and asking questions, but really I do feel obliged to go to bat for the club on this one as they are being slated for events that were largely out of their control.

Fair enough Scotty, It will be murder if there is no footy this weekend and the way things are going it is going to be a financial nightmare for our club.

  5. Ok then lets try and answer some;

"we are run like a diddy club at times but keep burying your head in the sand it's nobodys fault bar our own." - True but thats more to do with the board than anything else

"Then that makes it worse on our part diddy club are we." - in connection to the USH, again we are not obligied to switch it on so Q.O.T.S have no basis to make any complaint against the club for it

"Maybe our joke of a club could have decided either we put the ush on or not" - See response above

"Inverness Thistle failed" - Thats why the club merged with Caley and now its Inverness caledonian Thistle!

"So knowing the forecast was well below freezing why waste money on switching it on in the 1st place." - no, the forecast was taht it would be about -3 and it was double that. weather predictions are not 100% right all the time.

" someone putting 2+2 the gether and getting 5 and trying to deflect any blame" - cant remember what this was in reference to?

" although our club has to shoulder some of the blame hopefully lessons will have been learnt" - Yep we do, we should learn that we should not switch the USH on AT ALL in this division.

"sometimes we run like a diddy club" - Havent we crossed this ground already

"stop trying to deflect criticism of our club silly gamble switching ush on Friday" - again not ICT's problem. we are not obligated to have it on at all.

"money we can ill afford was now wasted" - Yes we have wasted a few grand tryingf to oplease that circus from Dumfries

"the loss of income from hospitality etc and gate money will hopefully teach us a lesson" - i doubt we would have made much out of it. Most of our home support is mainly season ticket holders so the club has the money from that. Some hospitality will be lost but not a great deal. And considering that queens wont bring up much support on the saturday anyway, there aint much of a loss there!

I am only 14 was frustrated the game was off no need to take the ****.

  6. Queens can complain all they want but the fact of the matter is that they were presented with options. They were told that there was little to no chacne of the game being played(with or without USH)

so why the phuck did we not call the game off when the pitch was suposidly inspected at 12.30 on the Friday if there was little chance of the game going ahead?

IF there was little chance of the game going ahead with or without ush why did we go to the expence

of switching it on on the Friday morning?

we are run like a diddy club at times but keep burying your head in the sand it's nobodys fault bar our own. :P :P

  7. inspection 9.30 Sat morning failed.

How simple do I have to make this and apparently several other aspects of this issue for you?

There was NO 9:30 inspection on Saturday!

The 11:00 pitch inspection was originally supposed to be at 09:30 but no-one told the ref.

Then that makes it worse on our part diddy club are we.

  8. [quote name='Top Six Next Year' date='Feb 22 2010, 11:53 PM'

    Ouch.

Maybe 'Chis' and the 'stay at home fans' could have contributed towards the massive costs of having the undersoil heating on for an extended period before the match.

I find their official website quite amusing at times. I reckon it's some witty Standard Grade pupils from a local school writing the 'articles'.

  9. Basically we cannot afford to run something that (a) might not work in the weather conditions being forecasted and ( :P will greatly reduce the income from a game against let's face it a team who will bring up maybe 200 fans tops.

So knowing the forecast was well below freezing why waste money on switching it on in the 1st place.

  10. Why would QOS pay for hotel and travel and want a game called off someone putting 2+2 the gether and getting 5 and trying to deflect any blame. anyway it's time to move on its happend and its done with l.

  11. Having the vision to look at the weather forcast and knowing that the ush needed to be on earlier would have meant the game being on and not loosing out on hospitality

The overnight temperature on Thursday night was below the effective range of the USH, switching it on earlier would have had very little if any effect other than costing money. USH is not a magic cure all for wintry weather and hard pitches, it has optimum operating conditions too and once you go outside those conditions you dont get the expected result !

having the game called of means we are loosing out on gate and hospitality money with the game now having to be played midweek. sometimes we run like a diddy club.

Presumably that is one of the reasons why ICT club officials lobbied the ref hard on Saturday to do a further pitch inspection an hour later .... they wanted the game on and felt the extra hour would have meant the pitch was playable. The referee declined. It is not the club's decision to call the game off, the referee makes that decision, and in this case did so despite the protestations of one of the two clubs involved.

I know its easy to blame ICT for absolutely everything that happens at the TCS and some people are very good at that, myself included (when I feel it is justified), but FFS, they cannot be to blame for weather and the decision of a third party with no connection to the club other than the fact that he will be working on their property* for 90 minutes that day !!!!

[* - i know, different debate, stadium ownership etc !!!]

Understand where you are coming from Scotty and know that ush does not thaw a pitch once the frost was already in the ground so was rather pointless in putting it on in the 1st place.

do you know if the club have left it on for the Ayr game or has it been turned back off.

anyway although our club has to shoulder some of the blame hopefully lessons will have been learnt.

  12. Game should have been called off Friday end off. stop trying to deflect criticism of our club silly gamble switching ush on Friday hoping game would have been on money we can ill afford was now wasted. It should have been put on on Thursday the loss of income from hospitality etc and gate money will hopefully teach us a lesson

And calling it off on Friday as you suggest would not have resulted in any loss of hospitality and gate money?

    :025:

Having the vision to look at the weather forcast and knowing that the ush needed to be on earlier would have meant the game being on and not loosing out on hospitality having the game called of means we are loosing out on gate and hospitality money with the game now having to be played midweek. sometimes we run like a diddy club.

  13. Why on Earth would QOTS have wanted the game cancelled ?
injuries perhaps? We know Lilley was out but perhaps there were one or two more who were doubtful that we were not aware of (especially on a 'hard' pitch)?

All I am saying, as witnessed by a number of people who started to arrive at the ground either to work or to cover the game for the media, is that the QOS boss did not appear to be that perturbed that the game was called off after the inspection. In fact, he appeared to be dead set against the ICT suggestion of waiting for a further inspection closer to kick-off when the game might realistically have gone ahead. The 'real' reason for his stance is perhaps only known to Mr Chisholm but to come out on the QOS website and spout an opinion that was diametrically opposite to his actions is complete bullshit.

We are great at blaming ICT for things, and they give us no end of opportunities to do so but on this one they are not at fault and the crap spouted by Chic Young and then Gordon Chisolm is unwarranted and unprofessional.
