If you research the ButcherWatch thread from a year ago you will probably notice that most fans wanted Butcher to stay and could not believe he wanted to leave
us but it was eventually about money and potential success & glory. We soon turned against him even before he left.
What would Newport be able to offer him?
A fresh start in English football with a side that came close to league two playoffs so foundations there
What standard do you think league two football would be in Scottish leagues
-
Evening firstly all the best in the Cup Final just gutted for Gary that he's suspend
Anyway you're thoughts on Terry Butcher he's favourite for the job at Newport County Hibs fan been on our forum stating that he will basically kill our club he's not that bad is he!
-
How has the having Scotland play domestic one day games affected the game in Scotland has it seen more players take up the game from Scotland or is the game more for Non Scottish people
And being a Welsh man I have never had a problem with supporting England at cricket and would love to go to an Ashes series in Australia
-
It was until Sevco were put to the third division, stereotypically Scotland are rubbish without both the old firm teams
So now just like the Welsh Premiership you only get one spot, thats wrong
-
Gary is playing very well but I would take a top six as we have never done that before and 2nd only secures a Europa spot, still this would be amazing but it will be hard
Oh sorry whats happened there then I thought the second placed team in SPL was in CL
-
Afternoon all its Jim again from Newport! Dare I say it with out putting the mockers on it for you but you guys are looking good for that second spot.
Whats your personal take on it have you got the players to secure that place
And hows Gary playing of late? he has popped down twice this season to watch us doing well in the Conference with another former player of ours Sam Foley now hes a player that could do a job for you
All the best fellas
Jim

Warren has recently been played as more of a traditional centre half. Prior to that he had been playing in more of a two joint central defenders. He played well before but he certainly looks far more impressive when he is given the more dominant role. He is not the quickest and I feel that he has struggled with pace but is supreme when he is given the role of being the chosen one in the air and plays with a sweeper.
What do the sheep shagging population of South Wales fink of that.
-
Gary has been a great signing for us, strong in defence, and dangerous when he goes forward for corners/free kicks. I just hope he remains injury free for the rest of the season.
It seems as if you Newport fans arn't really missing him either. So its a win/win for both of us.
The past month we have Berks we where top slipped down to third now and gone form conceding the lowest goals in conference to giving goals away!!
Should have been away to Gateshead this Saturday but due to the weather now rearranged back down to us
-
Well done Caley as I said before you have a South Wales branch now thanks to Gary http://the-exiles.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27348
I know County is not a popular word round these parts but make an exception for us and join us if you want

Ouch, just noticed that Newport lost 1-3 at home last night to "Yate Town" who now reach the 1st round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history. They play in the Southern Football League Division One South and West.
Yes hands up Yate where the better side on the night, We can now concentrate on the league

Here's a question for the Newport fan.
I remember back in the 80's when watching Final Score on Grandstand, that the Newport score was always late and wouldn't come in til about 5pm. I used to think they must always kick off at 3.15 for some reason, but then I heard something about the lack of a telephone at the ground for journalists. Was that the reason?
Yes we used to kick off late due to the Steelworkers at Llanwern on Saturday they worked 6-2 2-10 10-6 so they kicked off at 7 for midweek games for them to get to work for nights
I know this as im a steelworker myself but in Port Talbot these days but Llanwern is still open but just mills these days
-
The Division three sides that have played them so far have they had many problems and do they get more money than they did for TV deal etc
-
Cost clubs in SPL? if so how much and do you miss playing them or are the Old firm a pain in the Rectum with there sectarian bile
-
Oiiiiii leave Swallow alone Yes cracking player but tends to go down a bit to easy and refs have sussed him out already got him when released from Brizzle RoversShoot! sussed out again.
You guys should remember what an employee once said to me after I fired him for not doing what I telt him to do.
He says, huffily..."You get more with honey than with with vinegar...." ...ah was younger then and didn't suffer fools gladly in them thar days. Now I am more laid back and more crafty.....
So be nice to the older fella --he's got his beady eye on you and I repeat, Scotty is a master of the design and deserves all the praise he can get.
I still like you, County, and you are a breath of fresh air, but go carefully into the night, dear boy, or old Scarlet might conjure up one of these witches in the book and she'll give you a right scare when you least expect it. Aye, rite enuff. Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble.
Meantime, bring some more of your pals on here, mun--go on, we like yer footie although there are, apparently, no hard tackles. That Swallow lad took my fancy-- is he in it for the club or just to feather his own nest, like ...eh?
-
Welcome County
You are now visiting the best set-up and designed site on the net. Highly recommended ,Very professonal, mun
Oh and the footie's good here too.
Keep tuning in, you represent a change from the old Fuddy-Duddy's on here from time to time. That is, when they can get the energy to get up from the pipe and slippers by the fire routine. When these guys get to 70 they seem to fade away. Puir wee things.
And if you want a little bit of romance, action, adventure, magic, wiizards, witches, princes and princesses..... and more.....try this fantasy novel for size too ... www.destiniesinmotion.com
Looking forward to your coming back--a breath of fresh air, so you are.
Cheers, Scarlet
Don't mind him... he's mad.
We've got lumps of it round the back!
At First I thought it was Spam

To answer your question on Gary we wanted him to stay and offered him a new contract but he had an offer to play in the Scottish Premier and I cant blame him
Gary only went full time three seasons ago he gave up his teaching job to go full time
His replacement Tony James has been out standing so far this season and like Gary scores goals too
Our FA Cup game Saturday v Yate
we got out of jail in this one replay tomorrow nightWe played in red for some reason
-
What does the 1966 denote ?
Its the year I was born Butt
-
Thanks for the warm welcome fellas There are some very good players in non-league down here what is the standard up with you and where do you think the Conference teams would sit in your system would we be able to beat for example Scottish division two teams on a regular basis?
-
http://www.ncafc.net/fixtures_results_11-12.htm click on videos and see some of his performances for us last season even our first trip to Wembley
They are not taken professionally mind just Glyn`s hobby but still good job he does
-
Gary's settled in very well. He's A real leader at the back. What we've lacked for a long time. But aswell as been solid and a leader he can play abit. Very comfortable with the ball at his feet and he's a brilliant distributer of the ball.
And as last night scores goals too, and one with his feet!!
-
Evening all Newport County fan here just popped in to say glad Gary is settling in well cracking lad and we miss him!
You have a few followers in South Wales now watching your results
We are doing well at the moment top of the conference but a bit short of defenders only an 17 man squad at the moment and luckY to draw today against Yate in the FA CUP
