What if Alan Savage's review could create a new role, Director of Football type thing, and make the manager report into that structurally? That way we don't have to pay the exit fee for DF but someone has the authority to influence his tactics directly and crucially DF has to listen. I know we can't afford another senior salary but maybe someone with the club at heart can do it either for a short term or for a nominal fee. This could either lead to a change of style or to DF feeling so unhappy in the role that he leaves.
