    New T&T Home Top

SCOTLAND may not be at this year's World Cup finals, but a shirt carrying the country's name has already become the must-have fashion item for Scottish fans.

The official jersey of the Trinidad and Tobago striker Jason Scotland, who plays for St Johnstone, is in so much demand that the maker, Adidas, is sending extra deliveries north of the Border.

The shirt has been adopted as the "streetwear" of choice for members of the Tartan Army.

Trinidad and Tobago holds a special place in the hearts of Scotland supporters. As well as sharing frequent underdog status, the Caribbean team is facing the Auld Enemy, England, during the World Cup and has five squad members who play for Scottish clubs.

Retailers are expecting the collectable shirts, which will sell for about £30, to be among the most popular of the season

John Kaylor, chairman of the Perthshire branch of the Tartan Army, praised the sale of the shirts.

He said: "I am a St Johnstone supporter and I shall be singing, 'I'd walk a thousand miles' if [Jason] Scotland scores a goal in the World Cup. There is no doubt that is who everyone in the Tartan Army will be supporting. A lot of people have got the older shirts with 'Scotland' written on the back, and there are already loads of bidders on eBay. They will all be Scotland supporters buying them, there is nothing surer.

"These football shirts will be very common this summer. Jason Scotland will be proud, no doubt."

A spokesman for Adidas said he was aware of Trinidad and Tobago's expected cult status with the Tartan Army. He said: "We do expect a high level of interest in Trinidad and Tobago merchandise in Scotland - as we do from any team that's playing England, really. "

  2. Dundee United player-manager Craig Brewster has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the clash with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Defender Lee Mair underwent an operation to repair damaged knee cartilage on Thursday.

David Fernandez (back), Jim McIntyre (neck) and Barry Robson (suspended) are also sidelined.

Inverness striker Dennis Wyness is set to return.

The on-loan Hearts man, who has signed a pre-contract deal with Caley, missed the win at Motherwell last weekend with a hamstring injury.

Midfielder Ian Black is still not fully fit after a medial ligament problem, while David Proctor will have surgery on a shoulder injury.

    Teams:

Inverness (from): Brown, Tokely, Dods, Munro, Golabek, Wilson, Hart, Duncan, Morgan, McBain, Keogh, Dargo, Wyness, Bayne, McAllister, Fraser, McCaffrey, Fox, Sutherland.

Dundee Utd (from): Samson, McCracken, Archibald, Kenneth, Ritchie, Mulgrew, Duff, Kerr, Brebner, Samuel, Robertson, McLean, Cameron, Gardiner, Abbot, Easton, Goodwillie, Callaghan.

  4. Here we go at the first attemp at a post so carrying on from the old site:

Mixed emotions this morning - like many my expectations have been raised by the team's form this season. We had 4 games to go to the split and unfortunately we were not good enough. In the four games we played we managed to get 3 points, Well 5 points and the Dons a cracking 10 points. Well done Aberdeen I hope you now go on and prove what is possible and overtake both Killie and Hibs as that is where I was hoping ICT would be.

Hopefully our season won't fall apart now - this is where the real test for CC will begin - the dream of the top 6 finish has gone and now we need to show that we are a team good enough to challenge next season for the top 6 again. It will be interesting how the team responds and performs in the remaining 5 games and how CC and DP will motivate them.

There have been some concerns voiced that the team may be split up in the summer but I think the bigger problem is going to be attracting better players to ICT so that we can move onto the next level. Our squad does not have enough quality in depth - we have done very well this season - I am delighted we will be playing in the SPL next season but we need to show in the remaining 5 games that we can mantain a run - it will be very disappointing if this season dwindles away with a run of defeats against the poorer teams. Come on ICT prove me wrong.
