  1. see when i'm driving along with it in D can i move it into manual whenever i like or do i have to stop it and then put it into manual,(you just move it over to the left a little and then its just up down on the gear stick and no clutch, i haven't tried it yet. ) ???

You need to stop first. Or you could slam on the brakes and make the car think you're parked? :getmecoat:

    how come? i hate stopping

You shouldn't need to stop the car to select manual as the gearbox will have locks in place to stop you selecting the wrong gears anyway.

I have an automatic and find the "manual" mode helps a lot in the winter.

The trick to hills in slippy conditions is to keep the momentum going (even if the wheels are spinning), drive as smoothly as possible - no rapid changes in direction and don't ever slam on the brakes.

whatever you do be very careful in the snow and ice - sometimes it's better to be safe and not travel at all !!

  2. Having had the displeasure of sitting close to hospitality area I wouldn't wish it on anyone. A few seasons ago me and missus were given seats in front of a load of drunken morons who dished out nothing but abuse to the home fans nearby. Needless to say we moved at half time.

Expanding on Scotty's tongue in cheek comments perhaps a hospitality suite could be built on the west side and retain the Kingsmill as a membership club for home fans.

Yeah - I can probably understand this point of view as people do tend to drink a lot before the game in hospitality not me of course :getmecoat:

  3. so the prawn sandwich brigade are being given priority over the fans? I wouldn't be happy if I was asked to move from my seat. Can they not make hospitality area a bit smaller?

I am a season ticket holder (me plus my son) in the family section. Even though I have these tickets, me and a number of friends often book up hospitality for key games - we were at the hospitality for the final game of this season and last season - plus one of the few tables at the last partick thistle game (we were match sponsors as no-one else would pay up for the privilege) - please don't generalise all hospitality as "prawn sandwich brigade" as me and my group of friends pay for this hospitality ourselves.

I witnessed the Dundee fan being "asked" to leave and to be honest he was totally out of order in his comments given that he was sitting in a home section.

As stated many times in this thread, hospitality is a vital part of the clubs income (we were 75 quid a head for the Dundee game) - why must people think that just because people are sitting in the hospitality, they are any less of a fan than anyone else ... or are any less entitled to be there.

  4. With USH not being a requirement in the 1st Division, maybe the club will keep it switched off to save money?

I was talking to Darren (commercial manager ??) at the hospitality for the Plastic Whistle match and he says they never switch it on just now as they can't afford to run it - it costs something like 5 or 6 grand a day to run ?? Not sure if the figures are right - but I doubt the lost revenue for having to play a few games mid week would be more than the cost of running the USH ?!?!?

  5. It does worry me about what happened to Esson. I think Mikey's uncertainty in the games following the split was a factor in us not winning games. I think Motherwell are welcome to Mikey if we can keep Esson, but maybe we'll be stuck without a keeper if the rumours are true.

As for Terry and June, well..... they have taken a short term strategy to keep us up (15 cup finals and all that pish). I would give them next season to see if there's progress. I think there's more room for young players like Vigurs in div 1. I certainly hope at SFL level we can dispense with all the desperate long ball rubbish.

At a push, if it doesn't work I would actually fancy 10CC to do a decent job for us in div 1.

Bottom line is, the football has been so pish for the last couple of years I'm looking forward to seeing us play a bit and maybe even with wingers. Is there still a place for Zander in that set-up?

10CC would do a great job for us in the 1st division ...

  6. And let's be honest, under Butcher we've played by far the worst football in the clubs history. It's been bloody awful.

No WAY! Worse than the losing run under Brewster??? I have never walked out of a game early in my life, but I twice wanted to walk out after fifteen minutes watching that utter sh*t.

We are a long way from being as bad as we were under brew ... but I think we were much better when Christie was in charge ... a lot of people said he should have cut his teath at a 1st division club ... well here we are !!!

  7. Well there will only be me, you and the other boys who go to the games cause Dornoch is like a ghost town!

You buy the ice cream ... I'll build the sand castles !!

  8. Of course. Will you?

Yes ... never in doubt ... whatever happens I'll be there !! I might even join you on Dornoch beach ... bucket and spade ... and a nice ice cream !!

  9. I think the problem here is refs are inconsistent, send someone off for doing the same action that a player a week earlier never got a card for. We all know what the rules say, so Tokley had to go, yeah it sucks but he didn't cost us the league, the team cost us the league!

You can't blame everything on the referee ... we had plenty opertunities to save ourselves ....

  10. Actually, I am fairly intellegent. But maybe the fact im only coming up 16 is an indication at why i am an easy target?

16 or 60 ... what does it matter ... age is no indication of comon sence !!

  11. No big parachute payment then ???

    250k apparently.

I agree Bauhaus. I hope Butcher convinces some of the talent to grin and bear the drop in wages and just try and help the team bounce straight back!! If they can show loyalty and character we have a great chance.

Who would you keep ... how many players looked like they were up for it today ??

  12. Right, i made this thread to praise the fans that sung today and you are coming on being a *****.

Take a look at yourself before calling anyone a " ***** " . You boast of throwing a battery at a steward and you call someone a ***** for pulling you up about it

Wow ... some really mature people on the forum tonight ... I've got some batteries in my kitchen if you need some more ???

  13. Right, i made this thread to praise the fans that sung today and you are coming on being a *****.

The fans were great today ... wonder how many will be there next season ??

I'll be there .. rustling my sweetie papers ...

  14. It would be nice to see our team stay together but I'm afraid the lack of money and the fact the players have aspirations to play in the SPL means foran, mihadjuks, morais and kerr will almost certainly be offski. I agree it is time for younger members of the squad e.g Vigurs, Duff, Rooney and Odhiambo to try and establish themselves in the first team as many players will be leaving and it will be difficult to bring in others due to the lack of money.

I think Butcher and Malpas will be able to bring in many young players looking for first team football and this is a positive move maybe they can unearth a new Ian Black. This will be good as it will provide the club with new players who are eager to do well.

The problem is money here are some figures from last season:

The SPL gets around ?20million ayear in sponsorship and TV monies. Half of that is shared equally the other half is divided between the clubs based on final positions etc. Last year Gretna came last and got ?900k.

Hamilton won the 1st Division and received only ?45k for doing so.

Caleys average attendance this year was around 4400 the year we won the 1st division it was around 2400. This drop in gates is a crippling blow financially.

These are the reasons that being relegated is so catastrophic for SPL clubs.

No big parachute payment then ???
