  1. Big Dunc refers to 'our philosophy' in his post-match interview and I have worried that an overzelous commitment to playing it out from the back could be his undoing. But we were actually quite pragmatic today, playing the conditions well with Ridgers hoofing it when he had to. The second half performance was excellent and if we'd had Carson bombing into the spaces that Spoony and Shaw were creating on the right then I think we would've won.

Their goal and the period after it showed that we still have a lot to do to improve at the back, and we also had nothing to bring off the bench. 2 good signings in January and we might be a half-decent side. And even if we're not quite there yet, the passion and some of the football mean it's fun to watch and be part of.

*my opinions are based on 3 recent away games - I haven't seen a home game and appreciate that we might be pretty turgid when teams come up and sit off us.

  2. Didn't really get going. Thought we were popping it about quite comfortably first half and building to something but the departure of Shane really shook us. Seems weird to say it because he's not one of our best technical players and it's taken him a while to establish himself but so much of what we've acheived so far this season is built around what Shane does. Saw a bit of squad weakness for the first time in having to play Harper in left mid for a half and he was truly awful. Still, great penalty box defending and the best keeper in the league (maybe in the country?) saw us through. It's a point we would've been delighted with at the start of the season.

  3. We were excellent in terms of shape and effort throughout but at half-time I still couldn't see us winning the game as we were getting deeper and struggling to keep the ball. Huge credit to Dodds for changing it, bringing Welsh on, moving Roddy forward and then adding Doran. The way we played around Killie in the last half hour was a joy to watch and they never looked like getting back into it.

I think with duffy, deas ,devine ,harper, nicolson and carson we actually have great depth in defense.

We still need someone who takes charge and dominates the box at set pieces.

We also have an issue at left-back. Harper is an excellent player and the best crosser of the ball at the club, but is he a full-back? Neil McCann didn't think so.

The general theme tends to have been the second and first second seed meet in the last game at the 1st seeds ground. No idea about the rest.

So trips to Tynie and 1 other. Hoping for Cove, although I hear the new ground is sh1t, it still needs ticked off the list.

  6. He had a good season. Played well at right-back for a spell earlier in the season and very well at centre-half under McCann.

Never a fans favourite, more due to costly mistakes than overall performance level.

Good luck to him at Falkirk.

  7. Last time we played Stirling i was honoured to witness the debut of Felitciano Zschusschen. Thought he looked a player.

It seems that some folk can tell which games are where and when according to seeding - how do you do that then? Need a trip to Cove/Peterhead/Stirling to look forward to.

P.S. is there a prize for spotting the deliberate mistake... 'as ugly as Darren Dods' 😜

I saw Machine recently and he's as handsome as ever. Davie on the other hand...

    Songs guys:

    1) Lewis's dad used to start off the "Give me a C" back in the old div 3 days.

    2) The doo-doo-doo song was sung for Eric Odhiambo mostly as I remember it.

    3) You're now singing that back to yourself to see if it scans...

    4) A personal favourite - Spirit in the Sky 😎

    Another great pod guys 👏👏👏

I think we should revisit the songs in the next episode - we barely scratched the surface.

I can picture Lewis's dad belting out "Give me a C" before returning to the pipe.

  11. I enjoyed this game. Chances at both ends and - we got away with few which is understandable given the options at centre-half, but also created good chances - Shane played well but his finishing was poor. Most pleasing was the desire to start the 2nd half on the front foot and that's really when we should've moved out of sight.

We're a bit fragile at the moment but i still think there's more to come from this team once it settles down and we'll go on a wee run at some point that takes us into the top 4. Perhaps we have to accept at this point that Dundee and Dunfermline will be too much for us over the course of the season but that just leaves Raith and Ayr as our competition for 4th spot and we have a better squad than either.

I too think that we can achieve a play off spot. However, to have a realistic prospect of promotion, that probably needs to be the top play off spot, the one that we were occupying last season when it was brought to a premature end and, to achieve that, we probably need to be winning our home matches against potential rivals like Dunfermline and Dundee rather than dropping points against them.

We are not in a terrible position but certainly need to do better in the final two thirds of the season.

Perhaps the shortened season improves chances for a side from 3rd/4th. Obviously we'd prefer 2nd, but hitting form in what would be only be our 28th to 31st games of the season could be more important. Then you get a shot at a Premiership strruggler that's already played 38.

That’s a sure fire recipe for mid table mediocrity but we can definitely do better.

36 points this season = 48 points in a normal Championship which is exactly the total you need to find mid table mediocrity in this league. I still think our average will increase and we'll be 4th at least.

Difficult to see top four now we have most of our injuries sorted. We’re far too inconsistent especially at home.

I think we'll be comfy in the top 4. Tonight was poor for the most part but we've got enough quality in midfield and spark up front to see us turn in more performances like those we saw against Raith, Dundee and Queens. Still unbeaten at home this season.

  15. Allow The Wyness Shuffle to ease you through the pain of the post-Christmas lockdown with this bumper Yuletide episode. Alongside the usual reviews of recent matches and previews of games in a busy festive period, we find out who is the brains of the ICT dressing room, hear from an Alloa supporter on Saturday’s game, go behind the scenes at TCS once more, add to our Nightmare XI, empty Santa’s sack and drop an exclusive Christmas cover version. And if this isn’t enough, there’s another opportunity to win a fantastic ICT-related prize, and a few familiar names drop by to send their Christmas wishes. Get shuffling!
