The best final that I attended was my first senior. 1974/75 league cup final Celtic 6 Hibs 3. While we were on the losing side it was a great game to watch. The only other plus was seeing Harper score a hat-trick and still got a losers medal. Gawd I hated that fat..................!
The best final that I watched has got to be the 1970 world cup final, Brazil 4 Italy 1. Superlatives have been exhausted describing that team and game. I generally find finals to be an anti-climax nowadays. Liverpool AC Milan being the exception.

The Hibs fans that come up here love it and have missed ICT's presence in the league. Were looking forward to resolving the only thing wrong with our visits in the past and thats the result.

Personnally I think its fantastic that Yogi has come home. I can't wait until you return to the SPL as we have some stats to correct!
-
A excellent professional who will be sadly missed from the game. I salute the SPL for their quick action in cancelling the games. My heartfelt sympathy goes to the club, players and the fans of Motherwell, but most of all my thoughts are with his family at such a devestating time.
Phil O'Donnell RIP

Hughes has ruled himself out, shame as I like Yogi, his footballing philosophy is made for Hibs. Brewster has also ruled himself out, thank god........ we have enough problems without having a curse!
Neil Lennon has thrown his hat in ......... oh great, the most hated man to visit ER, who isn't an ex-yam or ex-Hibbie who has joined the O/F!!!
Don't want Billy Davis or the wee fatman, Robbo....... prefer our manager sober!
Losing JC is frustrating, especially for the reason he left. We took in 8.8 million in transfers with only 350,000 being spent on replacements. Looks like Murphy will be off during January, our most consistant player for the past couple of season and he will not be replaced. Fletcher has still to sign his new contract, bet that will be gathering dust now.
Whoever we get will have to be unattached, as Petrie won't pay compensation...... Tommy Craig? :024:

A colleague at work told me of Dan's passing. My thoughts are with his family at this sad occassion.
RIP Dan

Dean is a big boy and I'm sure he's heard worse. Every club has its morons, I've heard equally embarrassing chants from Hibs fans and at the same time every messageboard has its resident clown, like [NAME REMOVED]. If you go onto Hibs.net you'll find a few carbon copies trying to push the limits of common decency, hinting at what their corrupt minds really thing but lacking the kahoonas to come out and clearly say what they can only imply.
banana references? Stick them up your bigotted rearend!
[modbreak=Admin Comment]I find it hard to take a poster seriously when they complain about abuse and then start abusing someone themselves.[/modbreak]

if he pulls off this new stand deal then he'll secure their finances virtually forever. the fact there will be residential flats and a hotel on the site will make tynecastle one of the most valuable stadiums in scotland, theres also the potential to develop the other three stands in the same way if the main stand redevelopment comes off.
its costing them 51 million, the club are already in debt to the tune of 12 million now gordons gone, the plan is for the new development to make enough profit to pay the clubs debt and have the remaining debt transfered to the new flats/hotels/corporate bit, which will have a real market value far in excess of whatevers left over.
the group that romanov owns is growing all over europe, the mans personal wealth will be taking off big time over the next few years
..does that qualify him to run a football club? clearly not! he wont leave hearts in the lurch though, he has a long term plan for the club and im sure all these dodgey lithuanian managers are a short term fix before the club can really start prospering.
if i was a hearts fan id be pretty excited right now
THERE WAS A HEARTS OWNER CALLED VLAD,
WHO SOME CLAIM IS STARK RAVING MAD
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH JAMBOS CHIEF
Romanov's new rant reveals he writes poetry to ease stress of being target for Russian mafia
By Neil Cameron & Dan Brennan
IN his latest bizarre rant, Vladimir Romanov admits he could be persuaded to sell his controlling stake in Hearts if he felt the money was right.
He also repeated claims he had to rescue Hearts from dishonest operators who were burying the club, that he trusts Lithuanian players because they do not sell out or lie and that he has been tempted to punch Scottish referees.
Speaking in Russian national daily newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets, Romanov revealed he turned to poetry to relieve the pressure of death threats from the Russian mafia.
Q: Was the purchase of Hearts about business or pleasure?
A: First and foremost it is work. Initially, I bought 30 per cent of Hearts. The "well-wishers"at the club muddied the waters - they were ruining Hearts, burying it. I had to buy the club outright and throw out all of the people there.
Q: And bring to the club tried and tested Lithuanian players?
A:Yes. They have not learned to sell out and lie. We are trying to create a team with character, one without traitors or those who put their own interests before those of the team. In the West, these rules are missing. At Kaunas, which I started financing before Hearts, we existed for 10 years without any contracts but in theWest everything depends on contracts.
Q: Will you readily turf someone out if they play a bad game?
A: I'm also willing to punch them in the face if required.
Q: So complaints that players have made are not without basis?
A: Any player who is not needed by the club endeavours to speak more often to the press. And the press selects the worst of what he says.
Q: Do the players respect or fear you?
A: You'd need to ask the players. If I were to do my job based on whether they respect me or not, then everything would be lost.
Q: Why do you change the team so often?
A: A team is a living organism. It must change constantly. If that doesn't happen it starts to ******. Players are like goods that spoil quickly if you don't replace them in good time. I have one player who is going crazy. He wants to go to France to be with his wife. We'll have to sell him.
Q: Have you thought about selling the club?
A: Anything is possible. It's a question of money. If a normal partner appears who cares about the club more than me and I can help Hearts in that way. It is not essential that I am the owner.
Q: What is the attitude towards Russian club owners in the West?
A: They try to present us as aborigines ie primitives, something from ice age.
Q: Why do they try to do that?
A: Due to a lack of intelligence. When people say I am from the ice age, I am happy to play the part.
Q: In what way?
I might punch the referee or someone else.
Q: Has that really happened?
A: Not with me. But it happened to Saulius Mikolunius. Somone was pulling his shirt. He lost his temper and ran up and shoved the referee.
Q: Is it true that you write poetry and when did you start?
A: Five years ago, I found myself in a stressful situation. Russian businessmen "put the squeeze on me" - sell us your shares, or we'll bury you on the spot. I sat there, not knowing what to do, and spent three days writing.
Q: What do you write about?
A: About life. In verse, you can always find the meaning of life. For example, in my poem entitled "The Frog". I wrote it when I was out walking in the hills after it had been raining.
Sometimes I ask myself why it is that people leap around like frogs in the kingdom of the bog.
Translations of poetry can be tricky, given cultural differences and influences but this is the gist of Romanov's poem.
The mountain road rumbles
After the heavenly rains,
The hills fill with gurgles and murmurs
Beneath the order of the earth's dome,
A white stone lies in the bog
Under a solitary reed,
All puffed up,a frog croaks
At the call of his restless mate.
Longing to be with her,he puffs out his chest
To be number one in this boggy kingdom,
And produce a dynasty of brave offspring
Who will trumpet the glory of these places,
A living symphony
Above the ordered chaos of the earth,
And the clock ticks
To mark my passing years.
If I was a yam I'd be pretty ecstatic

YES! :001:

Your a fickle bunch! When the Brewster was at Inverness, you had one of the fittest teams in the league, you were a b*st*rd to break down and equally hard to beat. Surely its better to have someone you know rather than someone who will use the old excuse that it wasn't his squad, if he fails you. It would also be interesting to see if the curse can be lifted with his return. :001:
-
He should play tomorrow and rest himself on saturday. :001:
-
I have actually cancelled my plans to travel North tomorrow becos I feel betrayed by the club and I simply could not gaurantee that I would not say or do summat that I may regret - especially if I was told to feckin sit down. :001:
I will chill out a bit and will resume normal or abnormal service at Easter Road.
Could you no wait until the Celtic game? I got pelters of my mates the last time you were there. 'Who's the loud mouth ****** in the caley top?', 'are all Invernessians d*ckheads like that one?', 'that must be the IMMORTAL REAR ENDER going by the gob on it!'. So please extend your boycott one more game as I'm running out of excuses, 'no he's not typical!', 'no he's a one of in any society', 'no,no,no.......................' :001:
-
"If you want entertainment go to a cinema" Blobby Williamson. What a sh*t footballing philosophy. :001:
-
It was 2000 and Mixu netted the hat-trick. I take it your an Invernessian born and bred? If so then your where your meant to be. :024:........ you do like football? That was one helluva game, even for the nuetrals.
I remember some idiot posting on here, during ICT's first SPL season, claiming that he supported ICT and the huns and that he didn't see a conflict as ICT wasn't challenging the huns for the title? I wonder if he's still confused.
I didn't have such a dilemma it was always the hibees for me, still miss Kingsmills though. But that is all confided to the history books. :019: :sillywave: :019:

i was caley/clach/hibs.. but im only 24. i was 10 when the merger stuff was going on and to be honest wasnt really into football at the time
some would say im still not really into football, leaving me in a position to laugh at hibs nasty youth academy free of guilt or envy, itll be a dump and will forever be viewed as such by me :022:
you know i wasnt expecting anybody to take offense to me laughing at an aerodrome being used for football!
:024:...... wouldn't have been a hard choice in those days! I expect its a bit like the former smokers syndrome? As for being offended, I would prefer to look at it as defending the forward thinking of my club, just as I have defended the Tulloch Stadium! But its nice to know that your opinion of the academy building has improved. Aerodrome is a step up from a barn. Hopefully the results of our dump.... oops slip! academy will grace the Tulloch Stadium against an entire county team rather than the midfield you have today. :001:
-
the barns look cheap and tacky, end of! :sillywave:
why do you support hibs anyway?
Born in a side street at the foot of Easter Road, slightly diluted Leith Irish...... what else could I have been or wanted to be! Raised in Inverness in the red n' black. Out of curiousity every Invernessian I know was either a Caley/whatsit, Jaggy/whatever or a clacher/? I doubt if you only got into football league 12 years ago........ so who did you drop to follow your local club?
-
you ever been to victoria park? youll see our up and running academy there (note, that isnt a joke about them being our feeder club but the whole county-academy combo thing seems to be doing us no harm)
hibs land still looks like a barn to me mate. im not sure whats worse, if theyre keeping it green because hibs are green (hideous and stupid) or if its the fact they cant afford the paint job
what makes you think im a closet yam?
I'd say the tone of your whole post! :001:
As for the academy lookin' like a barn? I'll just have to accept your comment! You have a bit of a downer on barns? Been knocked back in a couple I expect.
As for it being green, what do you expect it to be? maroon! Thought the name Hibernian would be a clue. :023:
Jesus we've even painted the grass. :rolleyes02:
-
compare that to
:015: poor hibs. at least they're giving it a go
For a closet yam your not too subtle. Posting a photo of a unfinished building and slating it is not too clever. It was nice to see the smaller Herriot Watt facility and the marvellous Murray Park. Its the way ahead for the modern game. I'd love to see one set up here. I watched Rangers having training sessions with 50 to 100 local kids in their Rangers tops at Grant street, last year and the year before that. I must say I wondered why this wasn't a ICT initiative?
How it will look when completed.
-
Nice to see some commonsense being applied. :clapping03:
-
Well, well, who would have thunk it?
Top marks for vision to Hibs--this site is huge. Imagine five full pitches and a synthetic pitch up to FIFA top standards for International matches. Plus the top rate facilities and all due to be in place and finished by the end of 2007.
I wonder what all this is costing them? :022:
Scott Brown, Gary O'Connor, Kevin Thompson, Steven Whittaker and so on........ but as Alex MacLoed says the club will benefit in the long run! What we have to figure away around is how to stop the O/F benefitting from it? :001:
-
Man U and Boca Juniors

Craig Gordon was a great yam. Many thanks to Vlad for chasing him out the door.

Butcher offski?
in Caley Thistle
Posted
Don't think Butcher realises what he's getting himself into? Alex Miller got Hibs their first cup in almost 20 years and the fans hounded him out. Not because of his negative football...... No! because of his association with a certain Glasgow club! Butch I wish you all the best, don't be surprised when they turn on you. It's not personal it's history!
