  1. The Celtic team popped into watch 'Number 23' at the retail park, tonight. Lennon and co were relaxed and quite approachable. Nice to see Strachan is taking Sundays game serious by having his squad up 2 days before the match.

    Got Lenny's autograph  :001:

  2. Mad Vlads latest load of verbal diarrhoea, which has been pulled and then returned to heartsfc. Its got kickback on meltdown as it normally does at the slightest bit of controversy

    http://www.heartsfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/N...~986323,00.html

In case it gets pulled again I've copied the statement

    Monkeys go home!

The following statement was issued tonight by Vladimir Romanov:

    Dear Monkeys,

Today I will not be showing your portrait to you. It is pointless. You are one step away from becoming human beings.

Go and carefully have a look at yourself in the mirror. Don't you see a human in it?

Stop fighting for the values which the ex-captain of Hearts was fighting for.

Education and truthful information - that should be your input to humankind.

Your leader Mowgli is not taking bananas any more, now he is taking money for lies and untruthful interpretation. However he is greedy and makes you collect rotten information from cesspits and poisons readers with it.

This is unworthy even of a monkey.

Today I will express my opinion in English about refereeing in order that your Mowgli will not make you tell lies.

To discuss whether referees take money or not is the same as discussing a woman who gives herself with no love.

Isn't it better to concentrate on the standard of their work instead of looking for reasons for their poor performance?

A woman cheats herself and nature if she gives herself without love. If a referee officiates a game based on his personal love, he commits a cynical crime, especially when the public has trusted him.

I respect those referees who take money from two stupid teams and then honestly officiates a game. They do not harm football in any way. Though it is bad, still everybody is equal for them. Perhaps that is the reason why football in Italy will never die despite all the scandals that continuously shake it.

I think that is much better than being the champions for 40 years while building up the same system for further 40 years.

Now it has become obvious to me why you, the Monkeys, were trying to ruin Hearts not only in the Championship, but in European competitions as well. I think it was not without your help that the 'frozen' referee from Russia was selected to officiate our match and that in the games against the Greek side we got three red cards.

It is not without your help that traitors were presented as heroes thus showing the road to children for betrayal.

You will always call teachers silly because unlike you they lead children along the correct path.

Protecting your values in that way just spoils not only football, but also a Scotsman's proud name.

I beg you Mowgli, take the monkeys back to the Safari Park!

What a load of drivel  :020:

  3. As a Jags fan I'd hate to see the extinction of another Inverness club. My home looks over their ground and I have enjoyed watching them play. I hope they get over their current crisis as the Highland league needs a Inverness team, it wouldn't be the same without one.

  4. I read in 'The Courier' tonight that Dave Angus has passed away. Dave was the manager of the LaScala when I worked there. He was a cinema manager of the old school. A great man manager and former projectionist, a good one at that. A drawback compare to the modern uni or popcorn sellers we have today, you couldn't BS him with techno-babble when you screwed up.

I had the pleasure to give him a tour of the projection suite at the retail park, when it first opened. He had had a stroke the previous year and was still a bit frail, but he was still razor sharp. He was a great bench mark for me to judge the cinema managers I have worked with, not many came up to his mark.

I always remember his aversion to paying for anything with cash when he could use cinema passes. If we need distilled water to top up the emergency lighting batteries, he would send us across the road to McRae & ***** with a empty bottle and a few passes. It always worked!

My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

  5. Vlads statement on the club site, Thursday. Immature, ill-advised ......... I don't know? But when the yam fans are lookin' for a statement from the clown about the new stand, 28 million debt, his desire to rid his team of its top players, they get this drivel! As a hibby I'm lovin' every minute of this man's one man crusade to embarrass everyone of them at the pink bus shelter, especially the Vlad sheep.

But he's ridiculing Scottish football with his antic's and damaging the national teams chances against Italy, as our No 1 goalkeeper will have no match practice for the game in Bari because of this vindictive poison dwarf. The league should hammer him for bringing the game into disrepute. :001:

  6. Looking forward to seeing you guys in the final. Imagine the hype your going to have to suffer leading up to the game. I'm sure the beeb will be dusting down all that fantastic Millenium footage.

I know its not going to be easy but I've got my fingers crossed and with a bit of luck we should be able to beat QoS and dodge you in the semi's.  :001:

  7. Malkowski from Hibs  :023:

Just checked with my legal adviser, sadly he can't find any precedence in law to make your comment a legally binding contract ........ ****. But if you ask nicely we could leave him behind on Sunday? Just think of the improved attendance, he would drag in all that extra Polish support .......... I believe that slapstick is very popular with that ethnic group. Go on get Charlie to make an offer. I believe Rod Petrie is willing to let him go for £100.000 but if need be £110.000, depending on if we can raise the extra funds.  :001:

  8. 20/1/07   Clach are at home to Inverurie Locos - might be worth a look also.  :003:

I really enjoy the Clach v Locos games. Looks like the jaggies resurrected, a trip back through time .......... ah the memories.  :001:

A bit peed off with the change, as I'm working on the sunday and I will have to rush off to work straight after the game. No chance to celebrate what I hope will be a positive result.  :004:

  9. I remember during the power cuts of 72. When I was on duty at the Playhouse, that when the scheduled power cuts happen. We would pop next door to the Clachan and have a pint by candle light, while waiting for the power to return. I also remember a game getting played at Kingsmills with the flood lights power by a generator to beat the cuts.

Used to love the lamb burger suppers you used to get at Eastgate/Ronnies chip shop? hav'n't tasted one in over 30 years.  :019:

  10. I'm glad that you enjoyed it. As it was my own first viewing of the drama, I wasn't 100% sure how it would work. I liked it, thought it worked very well and helps to dismiss 'the Rainman' myth about autism.

How much of it is true? Almost all, though the time scale of events have been squeezed and some of the characters were composites of several people. My nephew has grown up to be a fine young man and a credit to his parents. Sadly Henry, the dog, passed on earlier this year. But like all good doggy dramas there is a Henry II.

    Thanks for your nice comments.

  11. After Thomas  ITV1 Boxing day at 9pm. Why am I plugging this drama? Well it is the story of my nephew and his pet dog Henry, not Thomas well I'm sure you all know how TV and film makers like to change things. It was originally meant to be done by the BBC, set in Gourock with names like Daniella Nardini and Robert Carlyle being mentioned. The BBC commissioned several rewrites before dropping the project. After being in cold storage for a few years it resurfaced in the form it is now, set down south with Keeley Hawes and the marvellous Shelia Hancock as my mother-in-law.

I have not seen the completed drama, but I have read its script which was very good, though a bit uncomfortable to read. It has been strongly tipped for BAFTA's come March. I have always admired the drive and tenacity of the couple who went through **** for their son, the boy and his dog are a terrific couple as well.  Its one for the wives and the guys who are more in touch with their feelings.

A nice way to come down from Christmas and to prep yourself for the wild celebrations of the following day.  :001:

  12. I agree with Charles, Colin Baillie has some what mellowed with age and is 'a diamond geezer'. But I will share with you .... eh?....... well non members of the Colin Baillie appreciation society, one of my favourite 'Baillie' anecdote.

The changing rooms at Millburn and CB is strutting about with a very erect brand new belt / tawse. He is asking for a volunteer to try out his new and very stiff belt. The impression we were all having was that it wasn't the only thing stiff about his person at that moment. No one was being foolhardy to take up his offer. To empathise the hardness of his belt he whacks it off a tea chest. As the crack echos around the changing room, he turns back towards the class with a manic grin etched to his face. It was an almost surreal moment as his now broken belt flopped over. CB almost when white then stormed into his office, we all collapsed in laughter, then departed when a very well timed period bell rang. :015:

I got on with him fairly well during my time at Millburn, so maybe my views are somewhat blinkered. I do know that he has done more good for this community than harm.

  13. Only real memory of the playing fields was, in 70/71, when we (Millburn) were playing the Academy. I scored a try and was kicked in the face for my efforts only to find out when I regained my senses that Baillie, who was refereeing the match, had chalked it off for a forward pass! No favouritism there.

Scored another against Invergordon at the canal, got kicked in the face again but this one stood! Fortunate for my looks I rarely scored tries.  :001:

  14. It is a real stand out ad, how many out there would have wished the original had ended in that manner.  :001:

For topical laughs try Scotstoon has a east coast leaning but has the odd dig at the OF that we can all relate to.  :001:
