  1. The SPFL Chairman of the Year will not man up and admit his mistake but he will back Hughes in whatever way he can.

The likes of CaleyD and other fans who are involved with the club will continue the mass circle-jerk so that everyone upstairs thinks we en-masse are delighted with the appointment.

I said this on the day he arrived, Hughes deserves NO respect and we as fans are not obligated by anyone to give him time to bed in his losing strategy.

  2. Another comparisson. Looking at our last 10 games this season we've Won 3 Drawn 3 and lost 4. For the ten games at the same time last season we'd won 3 drawn 4 and lost 3. These are league games only. Not really much difference. Lets just see how the run in over the final 7 games compares. Last season was 2 wins 1 draw and 4 losses.

IMO even if we do better between now and the end of the season, the downturn since Hughes arrived should not be swept under the carpet, unless you believe saying 'at least we were not THAT bad' is considered good enough?

Besides, all comparisons with last season are only fair if you think we did as well as we could've possibly done and that Terry Butcher was still the right man for the job post Barnsley ****-up.  Do you think last years run-in is the level we should be aiming for or do you think we are capable of more?

  3. Brewster did well with us first time round so was given a bit more time than he should've by both club and fans.

There were a lot of non-football issues surrounding Brewster towards the end of his time here that I doubt will be a factor with Yogi lol

  4. What  the problem with the naysayers about John Hughes on here is :

    1. NEVER CHANGE THEIR MIND

    2. always LOOKING FOR THE NEGATIVE COMMENT

    3. DON'T SEE THE PASSION AND EXPERIENCE OF THE MAN.

    4. Can't appreciate that he will gain nothing against a stressed and tired bunch of good lads by getting angry, petulant, overly critical and berating them for every mistake as soon as they get back into the dressing room. Did you hear what he said about Brill--he balanced  the mistake he made in the last game against the excellent save he made in the previous game.

    5. They don't fully understand that it's not all just about winning games because without adversity, and the cauldron of fire to stress the steel and harden it , you don't get the growth or the resilience to realise that life is a battle-- unless you want to crawl into a corner and hibernate.

So I suggest that you  adopt a completely positive approach and listen to the voice of experience, John Hughes ,his fired up imagination and passion, his positive ideas, his vision and frankly his inspiring thoughts.

    And learn. :clapping:

What  the problem with the happyclappers about John Hughes on here is :

    1.  They think he has a track record of turning around corrosive, terminally bad form.

    2.  They're right good honest laddies who roll their sleaves up and dust themselves off for the last dance back at the well to go again.

    3.  The think defenders taking 3 touches to make an 11 yard pass sideways is slick, imaginative football.

  5. My choice at the time Butcher left was by a distance Craig Levein but I don't think he was a realistic candidate (even less so now).

Regardless of what anybody here wants, Hughes will rightfully get until the end of the season.  As I've said already my main worry is how we're performing in the run up to the January transfer window, if he carries on producing losing teams as he has his whole managerial career then we could face a bit of an exodus with pre-contracts.

I've no idea how stubborn or proud a man the SPFL Chairman of the Year is but if he doesn't admit to his mistake before the next festive period, it could turn out to be even more disastrous than when Brewster was let go in terms of what squad we close out the season with.

This is all hypothetical of course, we could win our next 7 or so games, storm into Europe and then sign Aguerro in the summer.

  6. "Too much water kills the plant and we keep telling the boys to go back to the well and they've done absolutely fantastic.

"I just felt tonight there was a little bit of fatigue, but we'll dress them up and get them ready to go again."

Hamilton really did us a favour in turning the big man down when he applied there.  Absolutely fantastic he says.

  7. holy sh1t did we need that.  onwards and upwards.

Top 6 secured, not that it was in doubt.  Would 4th be enough for Europe if Aberdeen and Dundee United get to the final?  Rangers cant get in to Europe I think was mentioned in that interview with Yogi but I may have read it elsewhere.

  8. That was the least inspiring half hour of my ICT life lol

It's all well seeing a weakness, its fixing it thats the hard part.  Not much in the way of accepting guilt for how terrible our form has been since he arrived.

The whole thing was too cosy for my liking, the pair of yous seemed scared to upset the man and just nodded along with all his drivel about how great the boys are doing.

  9. What I find most amazing is how so many posters only ever appear on the forums when the team have a few bad results.

..the same could be said for the happy clappers response to each solitary point gained.

I appreciate you cannot criticise any club personnel given the importance of good relations (same goes for others on here) but there's no need to throw yourself heroically in front of bullets for them either by being so dismissive of fans with opposing views.

In your opinon CaleyD, how many hours of football should we play without scoring a goal before questioning the head coaches tactics?  Into double figures?  You yourself just said 'I'd judge that all in all the team are doing pretty well.' so I assume it's more than 8 hours.

  10. Despite this though, going from what we're seeing on the pitch and looking at his previous record, fans have the right to be concerned and be free to air their views without being labeled as "idiots" and other such terms.  I thought the aim for this club was top six, cup finals and Europe.  Now "happy clappers" are telling us that we all should just be happy with staying up.  The worried ones are the ones who want the club to kick on.  The ones who are easily pleased with just staying up, if anything, are the real negative ones.  Only the manager and the immediate staff have changed - not the players who got us to second, yet people are now happy with just staying up and attack those who want to push on to bigger things.  That's the type of attitude that'll get us nowhere.

Great summary overall Renegade and I admit this last point totally passed me by.

I'd fully expect the man himself to say he expects more than just avoiding relegation.

My fear is that the SPFL Chairman of the Year will wait far too long into next season to pull the trigger, should he come out when the time comes and apologises for his mistake then it will soften the blow.  I just hope by then the damage isn't terminal.

  11. I will say it again, I started this discussion to guage opinion, not to start arguments, so this time, I am going to stay off this thread, I knew as soon as I posted it that negative response was inevitable, was reluctant to start it but did just to see if vast majority backed gaffer, which they do bar 2.

I wouldn't go that far, the consensus among those not burying their heads in the sand appears to be things are going terrible but now isn't the time to talk about it, as I posted myself earlier in this thread.

Those with their head in the sand think hes doing a wonderful job, clinging onto the magnificent effort he brought out of the team to beat the worst performing SPL team in years in a semi final and being kept in the top 6 by Hibs and Super J's inconsistency.
