  1. Rumours about Christiano Ryanaldo on Sky Sports :-/

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11678/9422390/transfer-news-english-eyes-on-ryan-christie?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=english-eyes-on-christie

A host of Premier League and Championship clubs are tracking Inverness starlet Ryan Christie, Sky Sports understands.

The 19-year-old midfielder has emerged as a huge talent in recent months, and is now being talked of in the same bracket as Ryan Gauld - who was sold by Dundee United this summer to Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.

Christie, the son of Inverness legend Charlie, has come through the youth ranks with the Highlands outfit and made his debut late last year.

He has quickly established himself at the Caldeonian Stadium and has his performances have now lead him to him attracting major interest from south of the border.

It is understood more than a dozen English clubs are actively scouting him, amongst those are understood to be North East trio Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough.

  2. I have no doubt that given time TB might have managed to spark Hibs back into life ... but therein lies his first and potentially biggest mistake. Did his ego make him think that he would be the first Hibs manager in recent history that would actually be given any time? He has a record of being **** poor to begin with at most clubs, but when given time (eg 'Well and ICT), and allowed to assemble his own squad, then he has proved he can turn things around or at least have them heading in the right direction.

I have said it before, and will say it again ... I thank TB for what he achieved at ICT, for the players he brought in, and the raised profile he afforded us. It is appreciated and will be looked on fondly .... but, he chose to turn around and bite the hand that fed him, and would have fed him for life had he wanted it, and for the utterly disrespectful manner in which he did so I can offer no sympathy for him whatsoever. He got what was coming to him plain and simple !

Aye. The last game he managed us at Caley stadium, I belted down to the side of the tunnel at the end and shouted "Don't do it Terry! Hibs will **** you up!" - so he can't say he wasn't warned.

  3. Don Cowie been offered a new contract by Cardiff, but rumours about him heading North (to "wealth-off-the-radar The Rangers")

Some interesting chat on the Cardiff forums:

Can't help feeling, though, that Don is a bit too good for the Scottish Championship. Think he's from the highlands, though I might be wrong.

I personally feel that he is waiting for Malky to get a club and then he's off, son of Malky and all that icon_lol.gif

If he wants to go, good luck to him. He has been a good servant to the club and this move would be back to his national roots. He can leave with his head held high and I for one wish him every success north of the border, both for club and country!!!

Here's hoping he's been reading about The Ranger's financial state and signs for us for a wage he will actually see!

  4.

This brings me onto another point.  Why do we never have a number 13?  I know McAllister wore it one year and I think Golabek did in a friendly once but apart from that, there's never been another I don't think.  It's just nonsense.  We can have a number 23 but not a number 13.  Why?

Don't think its a case of 'can't' have #13, its not banned or anything, think its a case of superstition for some players or teams and they just don't choose to wear the number.

I know that, I just think it's silly that people still have these superstitions in this day and age.  It's like people who number their house 12A!  I think in China number 4 is considered unlucky.  People scared of these things need to get a life.

It's interesting the myths and legends behind these things though. One theory I've heard is it comes from the stories of the Norse gods.

Twelve of the gods were invited to celebrate the feast of Freya - the midwinter festival which marks the return of the light.

Loki, the trickster god wasn't invited but he gatecrashed -making thirteen.

To show his displeasure, he tricked the blind god Hodur into shooting the god of spring Baldur the Bright, with an arrow made of mistletoe.

With no spring, the endless winter of Ragnarok started.

Friday = frjá-dagr in old Norse - so Friday 13th is considered particularly unlucky.

  5. Nice one!

I was really chuffed at the passion of the crowd at the cup final - even faced with a really dour game, we did our best to inspire the team, and up until the penalties we made as much noise as three times as many Dons fans.

The flags played their part in creating that positive mentality, well done for all your work in getting it done, and kudos to the club for recognising it.

  6. Interesting browsing the PFA's transfer list - there are a lot of out-of-contract players on there with SPL experience,

    to name a few:

    Paddy McCourt (Barnsley)
    Zander Diamond (Burton Albion)

    Alan Gow (Exeter)

    Danny Fox (Southhampton)

    Carlos Cuellar (Sunderland)

and of course, the mighty Don Cowie (Cardiff)

I'd be quite happy if we stuck with the squad we have, and brought in one striker - somebody proven.

Finding someone who scores goals for free is not an easy task though!

  7. I reckon our wide play has been improving in the last few games - also our set pieces look much more useful (well, less useless!)

I would tentatively credit Latapy for both of those things.

Our problem seems to be a shortage of width - Doran is probably our best winger, and even he tends to cut inside in situations where a cross would be much more dangerous.

Ross and Christie could both play on the wing, but they seem to all wind up in the middle, trying to win the ball.

This means when the opposition breaks, there is loads of space for them to pass into - we are losing the midfield battle by playing too many men there.

Defence looks short of confidence, and no wonder - in too many games they have been over-run and cut to pieces.

I'm guessing Hughes thought he could tighten things up defensively by changing away from the 4-2-3-1 we played under Butcher, I think he's now realised that was a mistake, and there are signs we are getting back to playing a more shrewd attacking game, and not inviting so much pressure.

We've missed Foran, and we still are missing him - he's well off the pace, and obviously has ongoing problems with his knee.

Draper has been great recently, but we need two players of that type on the field at a time to allow the others to attack.

  8. Most significant in terms of being a very well-timed re-inforcement in an area where we were starting to look thin,

although the players who covered when Foran, Vincent and Draper have been out did much better than I expected,

kudos to Nick Ross and Liam Polwarth, neither of whom looked out of their depth.

Watkins, Williams and Doran have all put in good shifts recently as well - The whole midfield has been covering each other's backs well.

I would say Tansey's chief contribution is that he's fitted back in so quickly. Fair play to him.

  9. Flower of Scotland? Just a thought, no other club sing it, and everyone kens the words?

a few other Tartan Army classics are really Highland somgs - Loch Lomond? Killiekrankie?

There are a load of great songs from the '45 we could steal back I reckon.

    Failing that:

We'll be coming... We'll be coming...

We'll be coming down the road,

When you hear the noise of the Caley Thistle boys,

We'll be coming down the road.

    Works for me.

  10. Mr Cameron.

I'm on the line now, and so are my Dad, my Mum, my brother and my aunties.

You have said too much. If you don't take some of it back, then I won't be able to support the club any more,

until they hold a position I can get behind again.

No to Newco in the SPL.

  11. ICT statement:

"It is never good to see a Scottish club going into liquidation and it is a pity that Rangers have come to such a position," said Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron.

"As to what happens now at SPL level, as far as our own club is concerned, this is a time to consult and to take stock.

"In the first instance we will sit down as a board and consider what the various potential outcomes are and how the different scenarios may play out.

"Following that, we will be consulting with our fans through our Supporters Trust, as we have done previously on many occasions.

"I would expect the SPL to call a meeting of all the clubs very shortly to appraise us of the current position.

"At our last all club meeting we were virtually assured by the administrators that liquidation was not on their radar following discussions with the leading creditors, but as we now know this was not the case.

"This is not a time for snap judgments or rushed quotes on the issue. We will consider our position and listen to our supporters once the picture becomes clearer.

"Any speculation by certain parties as to how Caley Thistle may or may not vote on a NEWCO is purely that and we find it strange that some seem to know how the club would vote under certain circumstances. They must have a crystal ball."

    Hello,

I am writing to let the supporters trust know that myself and my family are currently

holding off regarding our season ticket renewals until we see which

way the club votes on the admission of a NewCo directly into the SPL.

In our opinion this should not be countenanced, as it is an insult to

every club which has acted in a responsible and sporting fashion.

Furthermore, the attitude of the Rangers support regarding the

boycotting of clubs who speak out against them cannot be condoned,

and might well mean there is little financial benefit to having them in the SPL.

Regrettably we may be forced to consider ending our support of the club

if they do not act for the good of the game.

  14. I just joined after reading that. I think Proctor is badly under-rated by the fans.

Remember the huns at home in February? They destroyed Meekings 1st half,

Procs came on for the second and was our best player, stopped it being a real battering.
