  1. I second that. We should be very, very proud of what we've done this season with practically no cash. And don't want to tempt fate, but we've also not been hammered by anyone yet. Outside the top three, can anyone else claim that?

  2. I'd jump at the chance to sign him too. His contract runs out at the end of the season, but Robbo's quite keen to hang on to him. In the past, he's been unlucky with a couple of leg brakes, but he seems to be back to a very good standard.

Nice belly there, too, IHE. Respect.

  3. I don't think it is that simple... would we have won all our games if we had to play Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts, and Hibs in the last five games?

If there was no split, who knows who we would have played. The point is that we'll never know if we could have made Europe, because our challenge ended three fixtures ago. Where's the romance in that?

  4. Surely the biggest argument against the League split is that it stops any teams in the lower half of the table making a late bid for Europe. With Hibs on 56 points and us on 52, it could have been a really exciting end to the season (and a whole lot more interesting than the us vs. Motherwell vs. Aberdeen for sixth battle).

  5. He's been really solid this season, but I can't help feeling that the first half of the Future's game did him more harm than good. Looked pretty nervous throughout.

  6. Personally, I'd be gutted if Caff had to leave. He's done a turn when he's been asked to this year, and it's just bad luck for him that we've been so consistant at the back. He also seems to be good with the reserves, talking some of the younger guys through games, and overall seems the kind of guy you'd want at a club.

Mystified as to why he hasn't started the last couple of games though. Any chance we can turn this into a "Caff must stay" thread?!

  7. Was hoping to get to these games, as it would be a rare chance to see some Caley players in action (rather than listening to the delights of Sportsound, or waiting for two weeks holiday at home over New Year). But work has just moved me to Saturday shifts. Grrrrrr. Feel a sickie coming on...

  8. I think what you said about Rory is right, he needs some protection and needs to be blooded gradually. That said, I think that Bayne is a known quantity and stands little chance of establishing himself as a first choice next year. He's (Bayne) not lacking in commitment, and links quite well, but I just think he's not a threat to goal.

  9. Not sure who we'd want to drop to find a place for him in the first team, but if he doesn't mind bench-warming...

As for future signings, it would be nice to find some flair and creativity from somewhere. Wilson's not getting any younger, which leaves Hart and.... hmmmm.

  10. Give the lad a break! He's done well enough in the reserves to deserve his chance, but will need a bit of time to make the step up to first team level. I'd rather see him start than Bayne to be honest.

  11. Was glad to hear Brown's comments about staying, 'cos I honestly think it would be a disaster if he were to go. He's probably the main reason we've been so strong at the back for the past two years. We've got ready made replacements for Dods and, to some extent, Blackie at the mo, but Dargo's goals and Brown's constistancy would be very hard to replace. I'd leave the cash and keep the players thanks!
