New Manager - Brewster

  • Teaser Paragraph:

It has finally been confirmed after weeks of speculation over who was to take the hotseat at ICT that Dunfermline striker Craig Brewster is to takeover from John Robertson.

It has finally been confirmed after weeks of speculation that Dunfermline striker Craig Brewster is the man who will take over from John Robertson at ICT.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle appointed prolific striker Brewster as the new manager of the club at a press conference held at the stadium earlier today (Thursday). The 37 year old has signed a 2 ½ year contract and brings with him Malcolm Thomson from Glasgow Rangers to be his assistant.

A compensation wrangle had threatened to scupper the deal with Dunfermline saying that unless the issue was reasolved by Thursday then Brewster would play for them in their weekend game with Motherwell. However both clubs have agreed on a suitable package this morning that will see Brewster move North to take up his first managerial post.

He has met several players and will tomorrow take training for the first time ahead of Saturday's match against Hibernian.

Caley Thistle Director of Football Graeme Bennett said of Brewster, "He is a hungry young manager who can still play too."

Craig's comments on joining the club were "I am extremely honoured to be appointed manager and know that I am taking on a squad that has a great team spirit and a strong belief that we can stay in the SPL. I am looking forward to working with the players and staff and I am relishing the task ahead. ICT fans have already built up a great reputation for being loyal and backing their team and I hope to give them some more to cheer about over the coming years."

Brewster's first game in charge will be against one of his old Scottish clubs, Hibs with his first 'home' game against Rangers to follow the weekend after.
