Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC
confirmed today that there will be a total ban on smoking at Tulloch
Caledonian Stadium with effect from Sunday 26th March. |
Presently the North and South stands are no smoking but following the new Scottish Executive legislation, the entire ground including main stand and west terrace, hospitality suites, concourse areas and offices will be “no smoking premises”.
The clubs first “smoke free” fixture at the stadium will be against Aberdeen on Saturday 1st April.
The club will be erecting “no smoking” signs at all entrances to the stadium to inform everybody entering of the smoke free status of the stadium. Season ticket holders will be circulated in advance of the Aberdeen game and on the day there will be a positive message put across to fans within the stadium.
Any person not adhering to these new arrangements will be subject to the clubs disciplinary procedures and may also make themselves liable to a fixed penalty fine and / or criminal prosecution.
With more than 13,000 dying each year in Scotland from cancer related to tobacco use and an estimated 1,000 people dying from the effects of passive smoking, the Directors of ICTFC recognise the benefits of this legislation and look to the fans to support this new policy.
Should anyone have any queries regarding the new policy please contact Mike Smith, Chief Executive on 01463 222880.
