  1. Entertaining - right enough - value for money in the end.

I was wondering today during the game -

    (a) when we last came form a goal down to win ( never mind two goals down )

    (b) when was the last time we scored direct from a free kick.

I couldn't find an answer for either question , fortunately I witnessed both today. :001: :001:

  2. JOHN RANKIN - BBC Sportsound Man of the Match

I don't think the BBC had someone at the game then.

I think the MOtM point is being missed there - regardless of how poor any of our team was for 60 minutes it could only be Rankin ( or Higgins ) who got MOtM...his goals won the game - end of story.

  3. For most of the first hour all of our midfield were not in the game at all , looked like they were a yard slower than the Bairns, but then again we were outnumbered in the middle with their 3-5-2 which can give that impression...after our switch they all started performing - getting to the loose ball, making more space to play in and we never looked back...Rankin did get more involved from then onwards.

  4. With Falkirk springing three at the back on us it wasn't really a surprise that they dominated possesion in two thirds of the field , albeit their opener was well worked it was only Grants slip that put Stokes through with only Dods and Brown to beat , apart from all their possession they didn't look that dangerous.

As for tactical genius well it was a decision ( to match their formation ) that needed to be made but I'm not sure if we hadn't conceded the second so early whether CC would have stuck to the 4-4-2 and just made orthodox substitutions.

  5. I would like to leave this subject now with one last thought and that is that we all know how the Dons fans have this ongoing thing with the Rangers fans ever since the Simpson/Durant incident so I'm sure than the majority of them would have viewed our result with some glee and welcomed it as the lead article on North Tonight on monday, I got two e-mails from red colleagues congratulating us over the weekend.

And as I said, I may be wrong, but we were the first team from The Grampian TV area since 2001 to beat the teddies at hame.

And I've said many times before that that Simpson clash made Durants career, I watched him break into the rangers first team at Ibrox and thought him average and out of his depth, all elbows etc, but with that horrible leg break came the adoration from Teddies and the rest is Ibrox and Rugby Park history, a lucky break in every sense.

So, cutting to the chase Sandy...you think that because Dons fans and Huns don't get along that we should have been leading the sports news  on STV - just to give the Dandies something to gloat about!

The words straws and clutching at spring to mind there... :002:

...and I think the animosity between the reds and the blues was 'exascerbated' by the Durrant incident, but it began before that I'm sure.

  6. I'd suspect that although Brewster will have had compensation clauses in the back of his mind when he signed  ET will have had to work to a budget when negotiating any 'early termination' clauses in CB's deal....750k to 1 mil sounds too much even for the grocer - he must be getting savvy to this sacking business now surely.

  7. Why would a performance like that on Saturday entice more folk to the Falkirk game?? More than a few folk have turned up for the odd home game of late and suffered an equally unspectacular  performance but without the **** Turpin-esque result.

No I'm afraid we'll need to see more attractive football, for a sustained spell before the attendances will rise.

...whats that you say - winters coming , oh well, forget  that then! :017:

  8. Wait until December/January , and we'll see how things are shaping up then - probably just seeing Celtics taillights fade in the distance with Rangers & Hearts fighting for CL place, then  about five teams vying for remaining Euro spot and top six status...then a comfort zone of three teams playing meaningless games until May, with Malky Thompsons DU rooted at the bottom of the table. :004:

  9. Who cares to be honest  :006:.It's worked out better for us :003:

completely agree... It just makes me laugh looking at the SPL table and he's sitting bottom with his preferred team and we have a result like we have done today

hope he cries himself to sleep tonight :015:

...I think several members of his 'preferred team' still play for us... :003:

  10. ...Our match with them will be the toughest of these 3 fixtures because of the pressure, and the home fans expectations. A draw won't be a bad result...

Indeed after they dominated the fixture in the cup game a draw would not be a bad result ( you can almost hear the clowns getting on CC's back ), neither would it be an acceptable one though - 3 points is a must and we've got to approach it positively. Worry too much about Latapy and you're creating space for the others in the team. Make them work and worry about our guys.

  11. He could be okay for Raith but don't forget there are another ten guys in his team too so don't expect any great return to form from them...as for signing him for us, really, come off it, do we need any more cover at the back, no -  between Granty,  Dods and Caff we have a good mix of styles and the three are reasonably interchangeable - we have no need for damaged goods as it were, and what with Marvins rather agricultural approach to the defending it'll be curtains for his career sooner rather than later.

  12. Dissappointing petition there , I thought I would be signing up  for making Merc vans and Caravans travel between 12 am and 6 am, or even banning Vectra drivers on weekdays...pity.

As has been said it's some of the @rseholes that get behind the wheel that causes the accidents, mostly - people who can't drive safely at 60 trying to drive at 80 ffs.

  13. I'll have a pint of whatever Bonzo's on !!...............Dicky couldnae pass water and his crossing is on a par with Boric  :004: :001:

I'm in the real "Dicky" camp on this one, 100 is 100% correct  :023:

Fortunately for us -  as a defender he is part of the only fully functional unit of the team right now and his displays have helped keep us above water thus far into the season.

  14. I don't know what the answer is.... Live games on TV don't seem to affect attendances down south, as much as they do hear.... playing each other twice, as opposed to 4 times a season, is a factor... I would be happy to go back to the days of two divisions...  even if it meant a few meaningless fixtures towards the end of the season.... When teams playing away adopt a completely negative defensive approach, it can ruin the game as a spectacle for the fans... The SPL breeds this that type of game where everybody's battling for something....

They do affect attendances down south although for every time they mention Man U's new EPL attendance record they omit the poor attendances for another three or four games , and although the attendances seem bigger down south its relative to the population, and they are alos in decline as a whole .

Good to see you mentioning about away teams playing negatively in  meaningless fixtures at the end of the season , thankfully you don't get that now in our shiny bright SPL...oh, were you not at the game on Saturday. :003:

  15. Cash is king isn't it...well we've all signed up so we had better get ready for a big bite of the sh**t sandwich.

Sandy, what sort of 'resurgence' are you on about??? A resurgence of overrated over paid players half as good as their predecessors bleeding  dry the naive clubs who are throwing borrowed cash at them??

Followed by ten years of cost cutting and save the club campaigns , for the lucky ones.

Aye, what a resurgence, I'll have some of that then - not the resurgence, just some of whatever you have been smoking.

  16. ...Only Rankin thought that. :015:

To be honest I thought the ref did ok, which is a serious compliment considering the usual tripe he serves up - the only complaint is that he didn't speak to Jim Hamilton in the first half about his elbows....then again when Brewster was our front man we didn't mind his 'robust' style did we?? :017:
